The "Indomitable Fortress" shown in Planetstrike, at least for now, is not a kit scheduled for release.

Your post fit in with your Avatar Sid.

Well you know what they say, if you can't laugh at yourself you can't laugh at anyone else.

That's kinda why I like my avatar, it looks like he's reading my posts and reacting like I imagine most people do.

You'd go in looking for a purchase, spend half an hour looking for the right blister in his mess of shelving system, then spend another half hour at the till waiting to be served whilst he played Magic The Gathering with his cronies up the back of the shop.

Ha, I know what that's like...except instead of playing at the back of the shop, it was right there at the counter not five feet from the register, while I sat there with a model and cash in my hand, in plain sight, just waiting for someone to ring me up.

Eventually I ran off and came back with $20 worth of green stuff, since I figured maybe a $4 used model wasn't worth stepping away from the game for. It's also kind of irritating going in there and seeing the same damn blisters and box sets each and every single time, but I guess I know that blister with the female Catachan that looks like Vasquez from Aliens will always be there whenever I decide to get it.

I agree with Yakface,
If the choice is not of price but which store to support, I would support Neal at the Warstore due to the support and frankly fantastic service that is offered.

Us in Australia however,
There is a huge difference in price due to the free shipping and Maelstrom has never failed at being the highest level of service that I have gotten from an online gaming store (And that is a very big call!).

So you guys in the US,
Unless the exchange rate goes bonkers, I think the Warstore has earnt your respect at the minimum.

As for the Pre-orders.
I'll wait for H.B.M.C. to buy them and see how they look

If you live in the US buy from Warstore, unless your order is large you might actually cost Maelstrom more to ship to the US than their profit margin, while interior post is cheaper in every country.

I get the impression Maelstrom is sucking in some losses on international shipping orders to build its rep and customer basse, looks like they are doing a good job at though.

Now if only I could get free delivery on cheap AT-43 from a US supplier. It irks to be living in the only country doing free discount stock international deliveries in the hobby.

The Warstore has NEVER let me down. Quick shipping. excellent customer service and great prices. When I lived near decent stores (Dayton, Ohio & Charlotte, NC) I would buy almost all of my stuff from them. Since moving to West Palm Beach, FL, however, I'll probably be going to Neal quite a bit more. We have a local game/comic store that carries GW, unfortunately, they are not the most supportive of the games. When they decide to dedicate a bit of space to tables & terrain, I'll get my fix from them, but as long as I'm doing the magority of my gaming in my garage, the Warstore will be my dealer!

I've purchased from Neal at The War Store several times. I can give my personal assurance that the operation is top notch because of its tremendous prices and prompt shipping. I would comment on his customer service, but because I've never had a problem with any order I've placed with Neal, I've never had to really utilize it!

Neal's page also explains why you should stop at the War Store.

I'm pretty sure that GW gets paid even if we buy it from the other stores. Yes they get more from their stores (But they also have to pay for the staff etc) so that makes sense.

But in Oz,
it's sheer insanity to buy direct from Oz GW unless it's VERY convenient (which for me, it really isn't). Mail order would be the easier way and then they just cannot compete.

I really hope you're not being serious, because if you think re-sellers are leeches then there's little hope for you. No really, blindly buying at higher prices because of some imaginary moral construct is just plain idiotic.

Panic wrote:I've bought from other companies before, sure I saved £2, but I'm starting to question, do they give anything back to the community???

Two things:

1. Insane Hyperbole: £2? That's all? And you're trying to claim that as indicative of all online discounters? I save 33% on all my orders thanks to Maelstrom. That's right, take whatever GW's price is, and knock a 1/3rd off of it every time. That's how much I save. Every-fething-time. Why in the hell would I buy from a GW? To support them? They don't need my support.

2. Giving Back to the Community: To start with, who says they have to? Where is it in their mandate that a store has to meet some sort of weird ethical need to help the community? Secondly, does Maelstrom? Well, yes they do.

My last order from UK to Oz arrived in two boxes. One box took 7 days, the other (perplexingly) took 14. Not quite sure why one box was delayed.

If you can go UK to Oz in 7 days, then it should be the same if not quicker to the US. Hell, I've had US to Oz in 36 hours (GWUS is awesome!).

Well for me the difference of buying my current army from overseas as opposed to retail here is

from maelstrom games and GWUK $800 including currency conversion fees

buying locally from my gw store $1248

So it works out to be over 400 dollars cheaper to buy it overseas I think that pretty much speaks for itself

yeah,
all i'm saying is that when other companies are taking a slice of the action, less money is going to GW.
I'd like as much money as possible to go to GW, the more a success planet strike is, the more likely we'll see more plastic buildings/ thunderhawks etc...

Other companies arn't making 40k minis for me so why should I boost their profits.

*facepalm*

Ok so I take it you never buy anything from a grocery store, you go direct to the manufacturer. Because the grocery store doesn't make your favorite cheese, Big Farmers Inc does. How do you think these "leech" stores get GW products? Do you think they steal them from some warehouse, then sell them at a discounted rate to undercut GW? Do you not know how a business with a product to sell works?!

I hope you never buy your TVs from an electronic store, those damn stores are taking all the money away from the manufactures....

So the GW site is full of 'articles' pimping the existing product you should buy. Does anyone know if they'll have any sort of package deals like having 3 carnifexes in a box or anything like they did for apoc a few years ago?

Planetstrike is launched on July 4. Many Games Workshop stores and independent retailers will be hosting Planetstrike hobby events that day to give everyone a chance to test out the new scenery and expansion rules.

For example, GW's Maryland Battle Bunker & HQ will be hosting The Battle Of Cold Steel Ridge. This will be a massive mega-game pitting players against a Tyranid Hive army of more than 25,000 points! This game will combine Planetstrike with Apocalypse over ten large game tables for one of the largest Battle Bunker game events ever held by GW in the US.

Similarly Planetstrike-themed events will take place in stores all over North America that day. Please contact your local game store for information about specific events in your area. Visit this link for more info on the GW website.

Sounds good. Please brief us here on dakka as to how it goes and any fun details you care to share after the event. You can also share comments in my topic "blog" about this on BoLS if you care to do so. Thanks!
