Dude - welcome back! I neglected to tell you I'd updated as I figured you'd notice immediately. Sorry for that - you'll get a PM next time. ;-D
Yeah the WG head issue is still pressing tbh. I've got a few ideas boucing around up there, and I need a lot more bits. Even with my extensive collection on Eldar bits, 10 EMLs are surprisingly hard to come by!
I started painting my Warp Spiders the other night. They're a really random colour that doesn't fit with the craftworld, but in this one instance I don't mind as they look cool. However this now puts Tek the Impatient at 4 in-progress units. I think tonight that I'll finish the Fire Dragons and get them uploaded, and then finish the newer Banshees.
Stuff to buy in the future will be a plastic Wraithlord and a set of Jetbikes and some High Elf Silver Hemls. Totally inspired by your blog Gavin, I love the way the HE stuff melds so neatly with the Eldar kits. Oh and I totally agree - a trans-Atlantic Eldar teamup would be a great idea!

==UPDATES!!==
Awesome times. This week I've painted up a new unit and stolen my girlfriend's camera to update the blog! Hooray!
It always takes ages, but hopefully you'll all enjoy this meagre update. The good news is, with the Dakka Platinum Devil meetup tourney here in the UK looming - I've got a real kick up the bottom to get moving.
Wraithguard haven't made any progress unfortunately, but I've started brain-planning a new unit to be kitbashed/converted up!
PICS!
Fire dragons finally completed. I like the blue face on the Exarch, I think it has a nice 2nd-ed feel to it.
Vyper! I've got another one to complete now - both with the awesome power of starcannons. These guys are awesome - despite what you say! The colours are more muted on this, a bit of a failed experiment.
Warp Spiders. I was bitching to by buddy Alex about how I'm never going to play these models again, after playing 5 games they got completely trounced each time. I figured if they had a cool paint job I'd be convinced to persevere
She's in here just to point something out. If you compare her to my previous Banshees, you can see how much my painting technique has improved in only a year. It's entirely down to patience. My lines are cleaner, paint thinner and finish smoother. I'm not being big-headed, it's entirely down to taking your time, which was something I was not willing to do a year ago. She's still not finished though. I plan on having a squad of 10 painted up soon, with both exarchs.
I hope you've enjoyed this little update, meagre as it is. Like I said, I'm fairly confident when I say I will be updating all the way up to christmas now. Sorry for taking so long

Looking great! Glad to see that you haven't given up on us! I know my own blog is in dire need of updating, but I've lately been working almost exclusively on my long neglected Crimson Fists army. With the new Dark Eldar models coming out, the conversion possibilities are opening up. Anyone notice how ... tribal... the warrior models look?
I'm with InyokaMadoda, let's see an army shot!

Good to hear from you Gavin! I keep looking at the DE range and thinking I want to re-do my whole army as a Crone World force or something similar - I'm getting the same vibe from you buddy! You'll be glad in a week's time when some of my preorders turn up... So, as requested, here indeed is the very first army shot of my Eldar. It was taken on my living room coffee table, please excuse the pink drinking cup and the salt & pepper The pictures a bit blurry due to the focal depth of the stock lens I was using, plus the lighting in sucky. I've had some very nasty occurences with flying bases lately; the farseer came clean off in a game (need to find a heavy-duty solution to that) and my old metal Fire Prism has completely come apart. Very upsetting. Anyway, enjoy!

That's a nice army shot!
Sorry to hear about the Fire Prism. I've had issues with my own recently as well and have been looking at a nice 5 minute epoxy as a permanent solution to keep the peices together. Of course, there's always the (more expensive) option of buying the new kit... by the way, did you brush-paint or airbrush your grav tanks?
As for the flying bases, I made mine tripods, widening the hole on the falcon body and drilling two more. The posts were fitted to a decorative base and anchored in cork with PVA glue. So far I've not had too many problems with them and they're much better balanced, especially given the weight of the prism cannon.
In addition to the models, I've been contemplating turning my list to the dark side and picking up the new codex to run my Exodites with. I'm digging the idea of my "jetbikes" taking a bite out of whatever unit they happen to pass by, along with that 36" turbo boost. My seer council would have to be re-defined - maybe as hellions - but my dinosaur transports would make easy raiders and ravagers. So tempting...

Gavin those are great ideas! The new DE makes me excited and kinda jealous at the same time. I say go for it - Exodites can surely be a little more cruel that their craftworld cousins.
Flying bases idea sounds good. I'm rebasing my heavy-as-gak farseer tonight, probably going to do something like you suggested.
I've definately considered grabbing a couple of those new prism kits anyhow, mainly due to liking the idea of dual Night Spinners when fighting my buddy's gunline guard. I might be able to flog my old metal one to a mate...
Oh and I brush-paint the tanks. The Mrs was very confused when I tried to explain to her why I needed an airbrush. Still, I reckon OK with a brush. I basecoat Codex Grey (over black primer), leaving black in the recesses if possible. Wash black into cravasses, then drybrush Fortress Grey. I then go and hit the edges of each panel with a highlight of Fortress. I'm working on my vehicle skills atm, I want an 'Eavy Metal finish on my vehicles, we'll see how close I come

Wow - check me out, updating TWICE in the same year Here's my newest and greatest idea - my Shining Spears. I really dislike the current models, and they're hella expensive. I came up with this idea when I saw the new DE Reavers. I've kitbashed them with WHFB Dark Elf Cold One Knights. I'm worried that they still look too evil - I don't mind them looking mean and cruel - that kinda suits the Eldar, I just don't want an evil unit. I contemplated using normal Eldar Jetbike carapaces on the front, but I really like these ones. Is the head OK? I'm still quite uncertain about it - it looks pretty Eldar-y, and it works really well with the DE rider's body. I think I need something to make them stand out a little bit, so they look less Guardian-esque? I'm planning on putting ends on the lances which I'll either be sculpting or casting from the Ranger Long Rifle. The Guardian backpack was an afterthough whilst I was bashing this all together. Obviously I need to create the "front" of the shoulder pads - but look how well this fits! The piece literally just fit so perfectly, it makes me think Jes actually designed these kits for ease of conversion with other Eldar products! Oh and this guy did have two backpack vents, but one fell off after I dropped him and I can't find it in my grey carpet

Tek, take a look at the original Shining Spears for some converting inspiration...
I used Dire Avenger bodies instead of Guardians because they're a little bulkier, more appropriate to Aspect Warriors than a Guardian's torso would be. Also, the backpack vane is longer, raised on a pole of some kind. I duplicated the effect with a Guardian vane attached to a bit of stiff wire, paper clip if I recall correctly. Your helmets are the spitting image of my own, though.
I love the bike - I considered picking up some Reavers to do this same conversion, but the wife reminded me that I've got exodites, not craftworlders, and they ride dinosaurs not jetbikes. She's a sweet thang.
On a related note, I picked up a raider to convert into a dino-tank once I finalize my inspiration. The real question is coming down to whether I want to play CWE or DE and it's a hard decision. Involves a lot of re-customization that I'm not sure I'm ready to do.

The jetbikes look great. They are reminiscent of the larger Eldar tanks due to the topside vents. I don't think they're too evil, they're just right.

Thanks for the feedback guys!
@Silver - steal away! This is the single, one and only original idea I have ever had for converting anything. All my other ideas are generally lovingly borrowed from some poor other dakkaite.
@Gavin - thanks for the advice, DA torsos may indeed be a better choice you know. I guess I'll see what I can afford. I actaully tried out a DA torso and it looked pretty good, but it was the targeter part that screamed "Dire Avenger" at me. I'll continue eperimenting though!
@MoD - Thanks buddy! Yeah I found these to be fairly reminiscent of the grav-tanks, with a lot of the details.
@Grimm - I will indeed be painting these us in almost the usual aspect colours, which should help. White and blue, with a little grey and orange thrown in to tie them to my craftworld.
@BtM - I read on the GW blog the other week that the new Eldar jetbikes are actually finished - Jes sculpted the DE and CWE bikes at the same time, using the basic frame as a common design feature. Lord only knows when they'll be out though, and I'm impatient!
Thanks everyone else for commenting, I did a little work last night, nothing worth photographing. I'm waiting for some supplies to finish these guys off. What do you guys think about using the War Walker pilot's head? I can replace my War Walkers head's with regular Guardian heads (seeing how they're just regular Guardians anyhow), and that way my bikers can have individual-looking heads!
(Bottom right)
