Without having tested them its hard to say but it seems to me that Mission 1 favors smaller more elite armies, and Mission 2 favors assault armies and even scenario three makes smaller elite armies viable for the battle.
With so little time to test before the games I dont know how many people will have a chance to shift armies but this really seems like Vulkan Marines with multiple assault termies shoud do very well.

Happy:
I really like round 2's objective setup. Good way to inject some tension into the tried and true objective mission.
Round 3 is suitably climatic. A struggle for the center, with the Semi's on the line. Take it or lose.
I even like Round 1 punishing troop heavy armies. They got a pass in the initial round, time for the other shoe to drop.
Sad:
Ugh, round 2 is an objective mission with nonrandom game length. Guh! Lasherrific.

All in all, fact is that Warhammer 40K has never been as balanced as it is now, and codex releases have never been as interesting as they are now (new units and vehicles and tons of new special rules/strategies each release -- not just the same old crap with a few changes in statlines and points costs).

After looking at the scenarios, I'm second guessing my army choice and being tempted to switch armies, rather than merely tweaking the list I used for round 1.
Is there any reason why I wouldn't be allowed to switch armies between rounds?

No reason at all. Alot of people have been talking about taking a different army to the semi-finals. The ticket you recieved is just tied to you and that email address. I don't even think there was a spot on the sheet the TO had me fill out that said what army I was playing. Just the scores from the games.

Scenario 3:
A troop unit can claim the center objective and a single table quarter, an enemy non-scoring unit in the same table quarter does not contest the quarter but could contest the objective in the center of the table. Is that correct?
Scenario 1:
The amendment for Tie games = KP 5 or less than opponent wasn't posted up there.
BTW I've now played all 3 scenarios, I think they are very good. (Meaning I've haven't lost yet, haha!) Now watch me get slaughtered tomorrow :p

You should expect it not to work, and then ask the TO of where you are going which way they will rule it. But don't expect any official ruling. They are avoiding it.

Dunno if anyone asked but when it says "hq choices" does it mean things in hq like farseer and warlock squad or just things that take up a force org chart slot for hq?
