I find that a $3.50 Paint Pot is cheaper than most sprays (excepting the wal-mart black spray mentioned above)

I use good ole WalMart $.97 flat black spray. When it's too humid, (which it always is seems where I live) I used a thick wash of Chaos Black.

Duplicolor costs about $5 a can and goes on pretty lightly, I'm never going back.

I've been using GW black and white depending on the model.Yeah, it's more expensive but supplies is the one area where I always support my local GW store. I could get stuff cheaper elsewhere, but I get value out of the GW store and if it gets axed, my friends lose their jobs. Not to mention that I use their facilities to paint and I'm not that guy that paints and plays at a place but never buys from them.
for sealant I use Krylon.

GW white spray basecoat - nice and thin, lovely and smooth. It can miss smoe recesses, but not a huge deal and it a really nice base, better than thinned-down Skull White.

It depends, if I'm lazy I'm using canned black or white primer, GW or Prince August, if I know I'm gonna do some airbrush work on the model I usually start with a black coat through the airbrush. Going forward I'll probably be doing AB only. It is cheaper, you need a single step to cover all the spots of the miniature, there's no fume to ventialte away, and I can worrk on model at 11 PM without disturbing the neighbours or my family.

I prefer brush on a coat of chaos black because I feel I know I won't over do the primer. But if I'm feeling lazy which I normally am I just use a can of 1$ walmart flat black spray paint. I don't see why anyone would pay 15$ for a can of spray paint thats way to much I don't see any difference between it and what I use.

Tamiya Fine Surface Primer. It's the best. However, when I don't feel like waiting I use Testors paint on acrylic primer. Its fast, but fills in details more than the Tamiya-- not as much as paint though.

most non-citadel spray paints will melt/warp the plastic. no joke. I have used...MOLOTOW, KRYLON, OFF BRAND, etc...
none of them are worth it...and plus, if you use citadel paint, it has bonding issues. because you are doing water based over oil based....ever pour olive oil in a glass of water?
for those of you who DO use chemical/oil based undercoats...I don't want to know what your armies will look like in a few years.
I like citadel paints because I don't get high while I paint in my man cave. water based = win.

The cheapest black, white, or gray FLAT sprays you can find at Home Depot or Lowes depending on the color scheme of the mimi.
The cheap crap tends to really stick to metal or plastic. If the can starts to get powdery or sporadic I dump it immediately. $1-2 US dollars is no great loss.
I spray for a whole day's session though. I hate the priming process so I'll knock out a hundred models or more models on a lazy Sunday, so I don't have to do it again for a while.
If I only painted a few models a month or competed, I'd have no problem spending the a few extra bucks on the quality GW? or Armory! stuff.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!
