Does anyone know if the GW carry cases will hold the battlefoam 6" vehicle Foam?
I have the large and smaller one and am thinking of using Battlefoam to transport my 5 raiders and 3 ravagers in the large case and infantry in the small one

I was thinking of the Feldherr cases when I posted.

I found out about them the afternoon after I bought my KR case. Probably would have gone with Feldherr if I had of known about them at the time. Not that I am disappointed by my KR.

If you want to pay 50% more, for bags that dont carry near as much, go pay for the battle foam brand name.

If you want cases that do the job , for a good price, go sabol.

As others have said KR Multicase all the way. Customise the depths to suit and are cheap enough for you to buy a couple for the price of one equivalent wallet busting monster from Battlefoam.

Some of the cases are card and some are aluminium but don't think that the card is naff, it isn't.

GW carry cases hold something like 4.75" of foam. That is 3 x 1.5" trays and a 1.25" foam topper.

What I am looking at doing is replacing my beat up GW foam, with new battlefoam trays. I'll be able to increase my trays from 36 models to I think 44 per tray. I don't mind the cases, I don't mind sabol cases either, never had a problem with either, except... the foam. GW foam, seems to last a long time, at least 5 years, and some of mine are 10yrs, but if you have metal models they'll beat the foam up. Sabol pluck foam is very cool, but I have trays that fall apart from metal models in less than 6 months, depending on how much use the army gets.

So in my opinion, any case is good (I don't have a case any newer than 5yrs old), but you want to make sure you have quality foam, I am at odds with pluck foam with metal models.

I have to say I had never thought of foam longetivity as an issue - I have early GW cases that must be over 15 years old, although they're rarely used.

Anyone else have experience of limited life for non-GW foam? Perhaps this should be another thread?

I have a sabol motor pool, and a GW large case.

I think the better of the two really is the GW. It's not falling apart cuz of the cheap foam, and it's slimmer easier to transport and carry.

I'ts holding up well for all the wear and tear i've put it through in these few years ... as to where my sabol is already starting to come apart

Battlefoam foam in Vaultz Locking Letter/Legal chest.

It fits battlefoam perfectly, is a fraction of the price (mine was $45), locks and is tougher then a Battlefoam case.

Apparently, you have never heard of the Foam Wars! Do a quick search for that term, it makes for some interesting reading.

I really like the quality and capacity of BF cases; I recently picked up their FoW case, and I like it a lot. However, when it comes to 40k I just can't justify the extra expense of BF over Sabol to myself. Especially since, in my case, I have a vehicle-heavy IG army, which near as I can tell means that there isn't much of a capacity boost between BF and Sabol. My impression is that most of the major differences in capacity between the two comes in with infantry models.

The problem with Battlefoam is thier price. I was recently in desperate need of a case for my IGand origionally wanted a battlefoam one, but the prices were rediculouse. I was looking at the Motor Pool from Sabol, or the PACK 720 from Battlefoam; in the end I chose Sabol for price. The Motor Pool was $70.00 and carried 16 in. of foam, and the PACK 720 was $135.00 and carried 12 in. of foam. It was a very easy decission in the end, since the 720 might not have carried my entire army.

Or the preferred choice of someone who needs the custom cut and is willing to pay the price.

I just ordered two BF trays to go into GW cases. Compared to the value of the models it'll protect, and the time I spent painting them, the cost of the trays was worth it to me.
