There's no proof in your statement about WoW. Your personal opinion? Ok, but no proof.

As for the 40kMMO, yea, this thing has been dead for a long time. How do we know this? NO MARKETING, no new screenshots, no interviews, no news of any kind about it since their HUGE splash at E3. Game companies advertise their projects to keep up interest. Notice how Vigil (makers to the 40k mmo) is putting out lots of new information about Darksiders 2, yet... nothing about the MMO? There's a reason: the mmo is doing horrible.

And now it seems to be dead.

MMOs tend to give off information in spurts, not the usual drip feed. SWOTR went silent for nearly a year at one point. It's part of the development cycle. It's useless to hype a game that isn't coming out for years.

Do you remember that time that thing happened?

Considering that this thing has been in development for years, and we've still heard nothing, I don't buy that argument. We would have heard something about a new class, some new screenshots, anything.

As for wow: dropped down to 10.1 million? There's games that dream of having that many subscribers. We'll see how things do after the next expansion.

We've heard plenty. It wasn't supposed to come out for two more years.

Oh god, I hope Dawn of War 3 is safe. :/ I REALLY want Relic to continue making games under the 40k IP. I love them!

I've never heard of anyone spending less time playing 40K because of Dawn of War/Space Marine, and conversely, I've never met anyone who picked up the tabletop game because of the video games.

Nice to meet you, I picked up 40k because of Dawn of war Winter Assault.

I know no one wants EA near this deal, but they make the most sense. Especially if their fantasy license would then allow them to use Relic to pump out both DoW games and a fantasy variant. If they go that far, why not grab Vigil and get Darksiders and the 40k MMO. Of course that depends on how THQ would structure the sale and how much it would cost EA.

EA would probably snap up the entire carcass of THQ to get UFC (and spite Dana White) and wrestling as well for EA Sports.

I owned Dawn of War long before I owned any tabletop, and it is the reason both my friend and I begin playing 40k. (Oddly enough, in DC, he played orks/eldar and I played IG/SM. I now own a large SM and IG army, he owns orks and is thinking of eldar).

It was more of Mythic's fault. I was in the Closed Beta for it, and they rarely if ever listened to the things we pointed out were bad. Most of the testing was done for the lower tiers, and only at the end of the beta did we test Tier 4. This is why the tier 1 and tier 2 were so good, we refined those experiences very well.Tier 4 was the problematic part of the game, there was barely any balance.

Would EA want another Sci-fi MMO?

EA killed the Command and Conquer franchise. They wouldn't do anything good to Dawn of War on Origin.

They killed Maxis and Westwood and they're trying hard to kill Bioware (and succeeding). Nothing good could come of an acquisition.

Aye, I've had a fair few THQ games over the years.

Oddly there is one franchise THQ owns I'd like EA to get if this was accurate, as in general they do sports games better than anyone else, and thats the WWE license.

Proof is in AresX8's post, as you saw.

They've been marketing Darksiders 2 more because it's the next big thing from their company. They have a marketing department with finite resources, and they're going to market the one that's closer to actually coming out.

I'm sure pretty much every other MMO would love to be "circling the drain" at 10 million subscribers after losing 1 million. There is a difference between no longer growing and failing.

Not to mention the crafting being shoehorned in at the end. If I remember correctly that wasn't even implemented until a few weeks before ship date. It was the low level of polish on all of that higher tier gameplay that led me to not purchase my preorder.

In any case I will be very sad to THQ go if this is true. I have been playing Relic RTS games since their first Homeworld, all of the Dawn of War games, the Company of Heroes franchise and had a hell of a good time with the newer offerings like Darksiders and Space Marines. I had been looking forward to seeing the same PAULDRONS quality of Darksiders in the art direction of Dark millennium Hopefully someone will make some use of both Relic and Vigil even if not on anything GW related.

Heres hoping this is false or overblown.

Relic is owned by THQ but all THQ does is publish the games - Relic will live on regardless, it's just a mystery over what publisher buys them up if this is all true. Personally I'm hoping it's not because I generally like the IPs THQ pushes, and they aren't as evil as Activision.

Rumours are false THQ has made a statment.

"THQ has not cancelled its 2014 line-up, and has not made any decisions regarding the planned MMO.
As part of the ongoing review of our business, we have made decisions to ensure that the company is strategically addressing the most attractive markets.
As we have previously announced, we have dramatically reduced our commitment to the kids' boxed games sector which leads to a significantly more focused release schedule moving forward.
Our slate for calendar 2012 and beyond is focused on high-quality core games and continues to build our digital platform and business.
We are excited for our pipeline of original and high-quality content along with our relationships with some of the best talent in the industry."
