I really don't like the look of the stock chimera chassis. The thing that bothers me the most is the open tracks that go around the top. At first I was just going to get an assload of trackguards from the vehicle accessory sprue. After putting them on, however, they just look too big when I put the top parts of the vehicles on. So, very slowly I started my journey into plasticard and made my own track guards.

The first step was to cut out sections that would make up the front, top, and back portions of the guards. Next, I glued them in place and filled all the gaps with cheapo greenstuff. Third, I took my hobby drill and I made some small indentations in the plasticard where I wanted my rivets to go, all 384 of them. Next, I raided my girlfriends brita filter and collected a bunch of the white beads. Finally, using a toothpick to put a wee bit of super glue in the indentation, I carefully glued them into place.

The Holy Terra Special Operations Company is an elite mixed arms formation. The main command element is normally assigned directly from institutions within the Commissariat. The post is known as Colonel Commissar of Special Operations. The company is called upon for various duties across the Imperium, although its primary objective remains unclear. The Colonel Commissar reports directly to the High Lords of Terra. It is rumoured that the company receives regular assignments from many departments. The Master of the Administratum, the Inquisitorial Representative, the Ecclesiarch of the Adeptus Ministorum, the Master of the Astronomican, the Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, the Captain-General of the Adeptus Custodes , the Grand Master of the Officio Assassinorum, the Lord Commander Militant of the Imperial Guard, the Lord High Admiral of the Imperial Navy all regularly call upon the Holy Terra Special Operations Company to complete a variety of assignments throughout the Imperium . Curiously, most assignments come from the Fabricator-General of the Adeptus Mechanicus, although a particular connection with any of the High Lords remains shrouded in mystery.

Due to the potentially sensitive nature of the missions that the Holy Terra Special Operations Company performs, lower level tactical command is also assigned from the Commissariat. Although the company is manned by a wide assortment of talent gathered from several organisations within the Imperium, the main source of line recruits are handpicked from various Schola Progenium.

I really, really like the commissar models so I wanted to try to include as many as I could. These will be useful for running as officers, veteran sergeants, or even actual commissars. In any case, expect some more from the commissar corps. Also here are the first two veterans with shotguns, still very WIP. I am really trying with greenstuff but it is a little difficult. There are only a few small details to fix up anyway. Plus,I have got a bag of purity seals, grenades, and the like to patch any rough areas that need some more detail. Two squads of these guys coming up, so stay tuned.

Is there a rule to support dual wielding plasma pistols? which weapons do you use in this place?

In the old codex we could dual wield plasma pistols. They could both fire by way of the gunslinger rule. In the new codex, unfortunately, GW in all their eternal wisdom, decided that gunslinging dual plasma commies, sarges, and officers were not cool, and made it difficult to Forge™ the™ Narrative™, so they removed the option to have two.

Over the holiday I managed to get a fair amount of work done. I wanted to add a little weight to the chimera tops, secure the magnet that attaches the turret, as well as add some stability to the frame, so I busted out two packs of milliput and stuffed it inside. I also used the that flat plastic bit that comes on the chimera sprue to cover up the rectangular gap at the front. I also magnetized the gun on my last bassy, to make transporting easier, and to make gun swaps possible if they ever decide to bring back some of the dropped artillery pieces. Finally, luckily, the turrets that I built for the hydra are fully magnetized, so I can use them as manticore platforms, as well as wyverns. Just need to source a bunch of mortars to convert the guns.

So, everything is now ready for priming, and the airbrushing can finally begin on the tanks.

I've also finally had a good look at the new IG codex. I am a little disappointed that they took away gunslinging plasma pistol characters. They fething gave the commander an option to have a shotgun, but not dual pistols. On top of that, despite the point drop, I really think that stormies took a big nerf. The deployment options that they had before was well worth the extra points. They really killed the "Special Operations" theme that I was going for initially, so I've decided to update my space marines for 6th, and bought a bunch of things. I've started a blog for them, which you can follow here if you are interested.

I've thought about what sort of guard list I will try out first. Vets supported by artillery at 1850, putting a lot of hidden blasts and av12 hulls on the table. I'm not totally sold on the need for the MotFs, and the total only comes to 1812 now, so there is quite a bit of wiggle room. I might drop those advisors and put in a third Wyvern.

I just don't understand why they took away simple options like dual pistols. Oh well.

I suppose they did. Challenge with pistol and powersword! .....Or......shotgun? I just don't understand why they took away simple options like dual pistols. Oh well.

Another shameful is that stormbolter is now pintle mount weapons (on vehicles), not personal weapon.
