I would suggest you make some bald heads, should be easy to do and I'm sure allot of people would buy tons of them. Just the torso would be a good idea as well, so people could do female IG or similar.

They will hopefully be about the same as my escher stuff, so maybe I can expand my IG regiments!

I purchased 2 some months back. Very very good sculpts! Little flash, even less mold lines. When standing next to other companies minis they are 1 or 2 mm taller if they are standing straight, but I use them for infinity so they are just tall women. If I can I will put up a comparison pic... but that depends on if I can figure my new phone out...

These look great, and I especially like the fact that they look "real". I saw the thread from work but was actually too scared to open it there...

These are rather nice. I'm glad to see more than one-shot figures that are usually released (not that there's anything wrong with those ladies either). I have been considering IG or SoB allies for my Sallies, so this does present me with more options. Going to have to think about this more.

Interested in these! Will second that everyone needs comparison photos on how the scale with other miniature lines. And I don't mind that their faces are a bit uniform: they're done well and with a bit of paint they'll look different from one another.

Statuesque Asylum

Right, I took a quick comparison shot.

L-R Infinity Ghulam, Statuesque, Mantic Corporation, Statuesque, Games Workshop Imperial Guard (a rather battered looking Ebay purchase!)

My GW collection is a bit limited these days, but as you can see GW figures are somewhat bulkier. My figures are more at the Infinity end of the scale, also working nicely with Mantic, Sedition Wars, Hasslefree, Pulp City, Crooked Dice, some Reaper, amongst others. The weapons are a bit smaller than some, as I'm not a huge fan of enormous weapons as you can probably tell by the way I've lopped the end of the Mantic rifle!

However, the intention for the Resistance Fighters is to create a complete range with specialist troopers and leaders, allowing you to make a whole gang (perhaps even an army) of Statuesque girls.

Hope that helps!

Oh my... fits well with Infinity figures. SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

I'm enjoying the overall move to 'infinity' sized minis.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

I've seen their stuff, it's pretty nice

But probably I'll try and work these into my Sedition Wars set up, as some sort of bodyguard unit for a Smuggler

Perfect sculpts.

Lines are crisp yet soft.
Fabrics held up convincingly ( something GW sucks at )
Pose are natural and dynamic ( GW can only do bald and screaming with 2 arms in air )
Perfect faces ( GW cant sculpt femalel faces )

You sir, > GW

Agreed on the quality, I've ordered miss Tumbleworth and miss Foxwell for my games of 7TV. Excellent casting quality, exquisite detail, superb additions to the rest of the stuff I've been hoarding for this game. Might have to order these ladies along with miss Come-Lately to complete the action team. I do like that the girls all have matching uniforms, nicely done!

If you had some more weapon options and a couple of poses, these would become my new IG army. The entire thing. Seriously, this stuff is hot. Heavy weapons poses would be a boon.

They look real nice.

Any chance of doing some boy resistance fighters to match? I think they'd look great as a bigger unit with boys and girls, all mixed together.

This is unnecessary, and not even clever or correct. GW isn't a sculptor. GW is a company that over the years has hired many of the best sculptors in the world.

Jes Goodwin.
Kev Adams
The Perry Twins
Mark Copplestone
Juan Diez
Mark Bedford
Will Hayes
Brian Nelson

Yeah, they're all a bunch of hacks who can't sculpt a face, fabric or a decent pose. riiiiiiiight.
These Statuesque Miniatures are great, but you can easily praise them without trying to score "geek cred" points from slagging off GW's sculptors. Especially when it's so clearly wrong. It just weakens your premise (that the SMFRFR are good figures).

Look a little big for Guardswomen, but I might buy a set any way including the sniper gal just for funsies, maybe see if I can use them for infinity too. They look about the right size and look to be part of a Ariadna force as Caledonian Volunteer counts as.

I beg of you sarge let me lead the charge when the battle lines are drawn

I wouldn't replace Infinity models for anything, what with them being so good on their own, but these look like they'd be great civies.

Fantastic faces, really much better than GW's, who look like they've been soaked in a punch bowl of testosterone. Great proportions too. If I didn't have such a huge back catalog of miniatures to work on, I'd definitely buy a few of these. Maybe in the future.

I think GW has a certain style when it comes to both their poses, the depth of detail, concept art, and other art direction factors that all those sculptors you listed are subject to that Statuesque Miniatures is not.

For the factors listed above (fabric, female faces, poses, etc.,), if someone doesn't like the effect of GW's art direction constraints on their sculptors, they're obviously going to assess Statuesque as being better than GW.

And I'd agree with them if they did so as I don't like GW's general aesthetic that is makes it's sculptors adhere to. Compare the Perrys work for GW's 40k & WFB line with the stuff they do for own historical miniatures company. GW fails for me because of the unified aesthetic they have doesn't appeal to me while these miniatures definitely do.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better.

While they do have an overall aesthetic, the details of that vary across each individual range of figures they have, and even from faction to faction.

Categories like "female faces", "poses" and "fabric" don't really come into this though. The Perrys' female faces are quite different to Jes Goodwin's, which is different again to Diaz. The Perrys' work on Empire troops is different to their work on the LotR range.

It's fine to dislike the "MOAR SKULZ" and "screaming bald man" stereotypes that GW uses, but to apply that kind of dislike to not only across the entire range but each sculptor's individual work is clearly just wrong and makes that poster look foolish.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I mean - does the Perrys' "fabric" suddenly improve when they're working on Hundred Years War figures as opposed to Gondor infantry? Did Mark Copplestone's faces suddenly change to be wonderful when he left GW?

And this is the crux of the issue.

Statuesque stuff looks more like when the Perry's do LOTR stuff (which they seem to approach in a style like their historical stuff-- more realistic than their Empire stuff).

You may not like other people pointing out the things they don't like about GW, but do like about Statuesque. But for what they like, these miniatures are indeed better than GW. When it comes to 40k and WFB, I can only describe GW's approach to sculpting female faces as 100% poo. Since we know those same sculptors are capable sculptors, I blame the warhammer aesthetic and GW studio art direction.

Since Statuesque doesn't fall into those same categories of things I dislike:

Statuesque > GW.
