I really dig the theme and just love the use of your banners.

Tau fire warriors use to, been ages since I built any, have sword bits that almost look like wakizashi. Could try those as side arms for your guys. Just a suggestion though. Keep up the good work.

This project is getting real schizo on me. I finally got my parts and bits to make Guard Allies in the same theme...making this project 3 armies at the same time; GKs, SMs, and IG. I really hope to get this done before Sisters of Battle get updated with new models, else I'll start making Geisha Girls with flame throwers!
So anyways, a trial IG Grenade Launcher dude. Some GS is still visible between the arm and body and I'm not happy with the banner symbols. Time to make about a billion decals on the printer.

And a SGT very much WIP. I cut of the rediculously monster chainsword and gave him a scale Katana from the WGF Samurai kit. SGTs will have Samurai Armor, heads, and trimmings while regular grunts will be made with Ashigaru armor and heads.

Wicked idea on the guardsmen, the katana looks much better than that chainsword you get in the pack. Can't wait to see those geisha girls with flamethrowers.

Thanks. The idea for the Guardsmen was a 3 way collaboration from fellow Dakka-ites Yuri and Psychadelicmime on other threads using different combinations of WGF parts and GW parts. I went with this design because the chest armor best apoximates guardsmen armor (IMHO).
I plan to give each unit a different color of pants/shirts as a squad unifier, along with identical shasimono (banners) with the red armor unifying the entire army.
Each Vet gets a banner while the regular grunt guardsmen get a single squad banner, as befitting the status of each.

I've got to say you're doing the Samurai IG better than me. I tip my hat to you, keep up the good work sir.

Thanks Yeri. The pants/shirts are giving me fits...trying to figure out how to represent silk garments with acrylic paints. The 'shine' from the grenade guy is from mixing a drop of paint with 2 drops of glaze medium and using that as a glaze coat over the purple base. Then a few highlites with Warlock purple and the old school "3 dot pattern" in white.
The armor is Macharite (sp) Red base, wash with Charadon (sp again) red, highlite with evil suns red, then accented with the new orange (sorry, still not used to the new paint names).
The skin is actually a tad darker with a wash to accent detail...but it got bled out in the flash pic.

So I've finally gotten the Melta vets done, along with a trial for model for a Lord Commissar. Plus some tanks with the initial painting.

So far I have 1 Battle Tank, 1 Executioner, 1 Exterminator, 2 Demolishers, A big gun on a Chimera hull that I use as either a Colossus or Medusa, 1 Manticore, 2 Hellhounds, 2 Hydras (scratchbuilt), 1 Vendetta, and 5 Chimeras.
Not sure I like the all red hull. While it matches the Army and i have tons of Kanji decals and banners to make each tank unique, It still feels unfinished with a big red hull.
As always, C&C desired.

And the Plattoon troops WIP. For these guys i wanted to follow the theme (duh), but not be as ornate. So they each get a simple single plate armor and bare top-knot heads with no banners. Brown clothes. The Sgts will get helmets, pistols/swords, and will have a banner.
