sitting at school early, using their printer to print out stuff for Necromunda . My phone rang, luckily class isnt for a while yet. It was the neighboring community sending out a phone blast letting everyone near rivers, lakes, and streams to evacuate immediately. guess it's worse than I though. While driving to class i passed over the Meramec River, it was over it's banks, but not that much. I was out of high school when the flood of 1993 hit us, I was in water up to my neck (i'm 6'5" tall) wading through the water back to my cousins truck where he had left all his business cards, ledgers, and cash when it ran off the road. It was a fun swim back to the new shore with that bundle.

Got sick while at school, decided to bring my printouts home . Will work on more tonight after the kids go to sleep, the cold medicine I'm on has me awake, but just keeps everything draining down into my stomach, not fun.

@ PDH I am amazed at the things in your thread, real talent man, keep it up.
@bbb thanks
@bruticus, are you using the same handle over on yakromunda, have followed your stuff for a while very nice
@chelnov saw you started your own blog, I will keep an eye out for updates, looking great so far. Seeing everything these guys have done while intimidating at first, is very inspirational.
@two spartans the stairs were supper easy, if not pricy. Got the o gauge steps and o gauge stair rails from the plastruct display at local hobby store, added glue, and some struts to keep it upright, now just needs some rivets and paint.
@nathanie1 your Gang looks sweet man, hope to get to that point in the future.
@skalk thanks for the heads up, figured that's what was happening as I would edit the post but it didn't go to the top. Everyone better know their now enlisted in the bump-brigade.

Before I left for school I knocked this out.

The braces on the bottom will be thinned down quite a bit, they were the scrap card left from cutting out the levels, and I needed bracing.
Hopefully will have time tomorrow to cut a sheet of plywood I have in the garage down to 4'x4' because my card table is full right now. Also would like to work on some scatter terrain.

Living in saint Louis I wanted to give a little of my homeowner flavor to the board, so....what about a plastic card arch? I don't think it would serve as good terrain, but would at least be characterful. Just an idea that's been bouncing around my head for a while.

Lastly still need some more avatar ideas.

Thanks Vic, it's always my intention to screw my opponent see I can do the bad puns too.

Here's som pics of the Saint Louis Gateway Arch
Starting with my favorite the old saint louiscourthouse in front of the arch

This is when it was being built back in the 1960s, you can see the Eades bridge, and the Mississippi River, I forget if that's the basilica Saint Louis or one of the other cathedrals.

The arch is 630' tall clad in stainless steal and welded together. If i build it it will have rivets instead mine might just wind up being one leg of the arch. The rel arch has a team car in each leg that carry 40 people at a time up to the top observation port, a great place to go if you ever come to saint Louis.

Fun fact, while planning the arch they figured that 13 people would die during construction. No one died during construction, but at least one person has died parachuting off of it, after parachuting down onto it his reserve chute didn't deploy.

The arch can sway up to18" due o wind, though a 50 mph breeze will only sway it 1.5" and can survive 150 mph storms, good for when we have tornados around here. I can remember a few times in my life it being closed due to flooding. But now they have the western expansion museum under it showcasing Lewis nd Clark expeditions and settler clothing. We went last fall to see it with the kids. Indoor theatre showing historic movies. If you want to go to the top there is a charge, and usually an hour or longer wait, don't know if you can book reservations online o not.

Well, have to take the kids to school, maybe start planning the project when I get home.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Got home from taking kids to school and started looking more in depth at the possible arch project. Decided to put I on a major delay. By my calculations if a bulkhead is 10' tall then the arch would be 63 bulkheads high and the same width. One leg base would be just under 15" wide and would take up a good portion of a table. And the other leg wouldn't even be on the table even at 4'x8'. I started looking at doing a ruined arch, that might come in the future, I cut out a section the size of the narrowest part at he top of the arch and that is 17' wide triangle hitch breaks down to over 4 1/2" on the gaming scale. It might be completed in the future as a crumbled part of the hive that had once been part of some noblemans gesture to the people. Fallen after centuries of neglect it will probably be in parts of a Larger diarama.

After my plan was crushed I decided to loot through some of my bits boxes. Didn't realize I had some good stuff tucked away. Found two more malcadons for the spryer gang as well as wings for two yelds. A couple of arbites missed the purging a few years ago when I sold my adept us arbites army.

Also found these guys again. They may become recruiters for talent. Also the two story tower right next to them I finished knocking out hil watching battlestar galactica: blood and chrome. Go Toasters!

well... now i understand about that arch idea...but even tho the maths don´t work...IF they would have worked...i still would have to vote against such an idea in an underhive setting... way too much pompous and grandeur for such a hideous place like the underhive... my two cents really... a rouned something is as close as you might get without mixing too much styles ... tho i can understand your idea as you seem a proud st.luisian guy... but for ´munda terrain everything that looks like grandeur would be nicked sooner than you can get the paint dried^^

those warmachines (i can do puns too) look highly interesting... not only do i like those conversion on the two walkers... but i would love to get my hands on such an iron man model... the things i could do with that.... *mad scientists laugh*...

Dude. Do not talk about building that arch. dsteingass has enough projects going on as it is.

Cool that you found some old stuff! I love finding things like that. Hasn't happened to me in a quite a while, I did a massive cleanup / inventory / reorg in March '12.

I saw on my thread that you're thinking about crates and barrels. Not sure if you use eBay, but I found a few things cool enough that I'm thinking about getting some for myself:

Crates

er... he is currently probably a bit low on cash...

but... you could do barrels and crates quite cheap but still good looking with paper or cardboard...

and barrels the easy way ... just glue two bottle lids against each other... presto barrel...

@skalk, cheers dude, I will check into those links it will help fill the table nicely.

@vik, I was thinking that the arch would have been part of a glorious estates of one of the original hive lords. After centuries of the hive building higher and higher the estate would have been swallowed up. In a hive quake the area became inaccessible, and the former lord nd his minions died over the years. A hundred years later another quake breaks open the area and the scavenging begins. Hovers move into the expanse and the arch is just a broken ruin and shell of its former self.

That was the idea, but now scrapped (another pun)

I have three of that iron man, they were to be knights taken by the iron warriors in their battles. I'll return to them someday, but today I'm taking a breather as the cold has the better of me.

We got between 2.5-5" of rain here yesterday and many rivers are overflowing. I was 80 degrees yesterday, and this morning was in the 30's with reported flurries in some areas. I know most places talk about changing weather, but we corner the market.

Did another walkway today, might get pics up later, watching the hobbit for the first time right now.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Just finished the hobbit and tucked the kids in for the night. Lawn work planned for tomorrow and the inlaws are coming over so I'll get to show my bro-inlaw the necromunda terrain. Well probably bloodbowl all night, might play the hobbit in the background. Didn't get to cut the tabletop that I wanted today, might do it in the morning, or next week.

Here's a walkway I made from the templates today.

Trusses attached for strength and coolness factor.the square parts sticking up will be mounting points to attach legs for stabilizing the platform. I'll cut the tubes that will insert into them at varying heights (1,2, and3 bulkhead heights.) also thinking about some other attachments I can do to dress it up more.

If you got ideas I'm wide open at this point. I keep thinking about gluing pipes to the bottom of the walkway, but nothing is really calling to me.

O.k. Last update before I go to bed....really. Decided not to make the angled walkway adjustable height. Instead went with a two bulkhead height set of legs. Also squared the bottom up with plastic card that can be covered later by debris.

Still looking for ideas.

well, if you put it that way... the arch idea could very well be some sweet looking terrain piece then...fulffy ideas always sell the product^^

and that walkway looks very good... i was a bit surprised about the angled truss in the middle...but then reading saved the day and perspective kicked in again^^...

as for ideas... a bit hard atm... as i don´t know what you need and what you have and what you aim for...

idustrial wreckages would always be something worthwhile to add to such a setting...

The walkway is looking great, really like the supports. I'd suggest some pretty serious walls along the top of it though as that is not something you'd want to fall off.

Perhaps X-braces between the support legs would look cool.

Dave are you channeling juju beans?

Bruticus, good idea on the x bracing, it will also help square it all up. Will have to ponder how to do it to round tube though.

Hyena joke, thanks, still looking for more ideas, think I'm going for slightly less run down than most boards. If I use my arch idea then his will be a newly reopened part of he underhive, so lots of stuff still to scavenge.

Vik, even hen you don't think you have any ideas you come through. "ATM" it is

Also I was still trying to come up with an idea of what to use the girder towers for. On the way to pick my kids up from school yesterday it hit me....highway signage. Tube I hard to see and I'm looking for alternatives as I would like to do moe and have it with a pillar on both sides, but for now here's what I have mocked up. You could do xbraces from the square parts at the top and bottom of each column, going across the walkway rather than along it. Don't forget to put a little skull in the middle of each x-brace, that's the Necromunda way.

Well here comes some blasphemy...... I don't like skulls everywhere.

There I said it, cats out of the bag. Going to the hardware store with the family in a little bit, getting some 1" PVC for my street signs, and stuff for around the house.

Thinking of just making a ground level down below to square the columns, I want some open air underneath for big baddies.

ATM was put on hold to do laundry and make lunch. Will work on it later tonight if not playing bloodbowl. The inlaws have stuff going on that might stop them from coming over.

Dave it's called perforated paper, I found it by he cross stitching supply's at m local hobby store. Came in6 o 8 different colors. Cuts with a scissors or hobby knife pretty easy. You get 2 sheets to the pack. I picked up silver and gold, but have Bly played with the gold so far. Testers orange glue, tape, everything so far holds it. Not sure how it will paint up so I'm leaving it just taped into place till I paint the rest.

Wow, edited for words and letters dropped by my I pad. Also m picture didn't attach, so reattaching.

Is it really paper? Very useful-looking stuff.

Beautiful stuff - so inspirational, and you're knocking it out at such a rate of knots! Love the variation in the bridges, and those signs are brilliant. Any idea what you're going to put on them?

And is that a scratchbuilt yeld I spy hanging out on the top?!
