The upper hull section was really annoying me in its unfinnished and incorrect state...... so i woke up extra early this morning before work and then decided it would be good to sort it out!

I have used my second option of the A-symetrical front section and would love your opinions on it...... to be honest i am not to sure why it is shaped like it is... maybe just for aesthetics??

but anyway..... i like where it is heading and IMHO it is looking good!

As mentioned by BIG H i have had a look at Blood & Skulls shop on e-bay.... some amazing peices.... (have i seen a blog on this site by the creator?!?!)...... and i have decided that when pay dy rolls around i will be investing in some battle cannon and a nice engine unit from his site!

More work on the tank?? YES PLEASE!!!

I actually prefer the second front section, it kinda reminds me of a baneblade design with its turret pushed to one side.

Oh and...

MAGNETIZE THE MAIN TURRET!! So you can change between the different turrets

And I also noticed you placed some tools on the front of the tank. I would advise to move them to the stowage area of the tank

Anyway... I'm loving the progress on the tank!!

Thanks mate, yeh I am really happy with the look of it. Definetly going to be magnetising the turret. Been thinking of doing a Vulcan varient turret anyway aswell as my battle canon model.

Yeh I did think the tools might move... but I kind of like them where they are. Planning a lot of little added details aswell... so still a long way to go! Thanks a lot for the comments mate! Glad ur enjoying it as I am really enjoying the build.

Thanks for the comments again.... Jehan-reznor, sorry.... no other 40K models to scale against for the momment... so just take my word for it!

Working my way through extra details etc on the hull, engine covers, vents and crew access/escape hatches at the momment. Also need to finish off the nose section of the lower hull and get the details there finalised.

A scratchbuilt macharius? Now there's something I haven't seen before. It also looks completely freaking awesome.

I've always liked the Macharius, I'd like to get one eventually for my Korps, the only problem is rules wise they're decidedly mediocre. Make perfect sense in the fluff, look awesome, but they share the same curse of the Malcador of being an up-gunned Leman Russ for x2 the points.

Thats a fantasic looking scratch build, cant wait to see it finished.

MajorStoffer.... i have to agree.... the Malcador is another damn good looking tank..... i dont want to get ahead ofmyself as there is a lot of work to do on the Mach first... but i might go as far as saying i will be moving onto a Malcador after this one!!

Looking ahead..... cna any one reccomend a good undercoat/primer paint i could be using... i have a mixture of plastic... plasticard and also grey modeling card... so looking for something to cover them all..... my only concern being the edges of the grey modelling card sucking up the paint and balooning.....

Ok folks.... lil bit of progress.... didnt have a lot of time so had a look at the weapon sponsons on each side of the track units.... pretty happy with where they are apart from the suport brace i have added in grey card ontop of each sponson..... will wait and see what it looks like when i have the track units made up...

I've used Krylon Matte Black as my primer ever since a discovered it; it adheres to anything (I've got plastic, resin and metal models), dries out reasonably thin so you don't lose detail, and is dirt cheap. It also dries rapidly and is an excellent subdued matte black if you intend on leaving any of the model black (my armour is a similar scheme to what you posted earlier, but with black as the dominant colour).

Wal-mart carries krylon, as do most hardware store, runs about $4.50 CDN per can, lasts a good long while.

I rather envy what you're doing here with plasticard though, as thinking about, in the end, your model will be much more durable and less prone to bending, warping or such than resin.

Those are some pretty symmetrical looking sponons. Awesome plasticard skills!

After just arriving back a few days i have managed to sneak some time for an update on the Mach!

Also received a bag of bits and bobs from another lot i won on E-Bay before i left on holiday!

Progress! More progress please!

Hey all!

Again..... a long slow process.... but have finally got some time away from work to be able to put some time in on the Mach.

track units are now built..... a little bit of filling to be done but on the whole i am really happy with them. I have added some of the main detail to the right unit but as you will see theres a lot still to be done.

It is great to see the while size of the tank coming together and i have to say... IMHO i think it looks pretty sweet!! But for sure it is suer heavy..... its huge!!

Run out of suerglue at the minute so when i get resuplied i will be adding the remaining details and then having a go at the tracks themselves...... i have seen a couple of ideas i am going to have a crack at!

I hope its recieved well.... but please... all and any comments are welcome.

Also... at the end... i have added a pic of my "bijoux" work station where i have been creating this!

Forgot to mention earlier,

Once all the detailing is done and the model is complete i am going to try and have a first attempt at a paint job.

The fact i am rough edged card and plasticard i am sure means i am going to need to use a decent "sealant" paint and a primer......

I got recommended one in aprevious post (i cant remember offhand) But can anyone recomend a good primer in the UK?!

I heard somewhere that even a Hallfords Fine Car Primer Spray can work well?

Any thoughts would be great.

Hey all,

Just a quick update as i have a lot of track units to cut and glue! ( as you will see from the pics)

Was going to go all fancy and get some plastruct sections to use for the tracks but i decided just to go for a basic plasti card base with grey card "grip" for the tracks. The first pic shows the 2 final ideas i had but i settled on the second option because IMHO it is simple and robust looking and pretty fitting with the tank,

Really want to get atleast one side tracked fully today.

Also toying with the idea of adding track guards along the top of each side....... any thoughts? I might try them as an option and see how they look.... anyways..

PS.... the last pic is an image of a part i found in one of my Ebay goodie bags.... can anyone identify it?? i have about 3 or 4 of them and would love to knoe what they were so i could look to use them perhaps..... cheers.....

Well well..... 2 updates in one night.... i dont know whats got into me....

Run out of another tube ofsuperglue so thats about a good time to call it a night... most of one side of track done.

Really like the extra texture and detail it has added allready and really want to push on and get the other side done!

Also i have added a shot of the Mach beside the ruler to give you an idea of Scale.....

The track guards sound good to me!

I have no idea what the mystery item is. Maybe an exhaust pipe?

Oohhhhh! BLOOD AND SKULLZ. They do have pretty awesome cannons there.

Don't forget to magnetize the cannon too.

Great work on the design and on the build. I just looked in on your build and I am always happy to see another scratch builder in the nest. If I had started to look earlier on your build, I would have referred you to my baneblade for the track build. There is another disigner out there who has done variants of the Macharius in the approximate GW scale. The macharius is on my build list and if you look at my build threads I mostly make my armor out of cardstock. I laminate the card to styrene thickness and then treat the paper parts like sheet styrene. My cardtock models are very sturdy, even though they are made from paper. I recommend to check out this site http://www.zealot.com/forum/showthread.php?t=170912 for more Warhammer armor. You will have to join, make an itroduction and read the rules. The mystery pieces is the backside of a Space Marine vehicle spotlight. There is normally a front side to it that is the light lens and cover.

Thanks all again for the possitive comments! Although i have a confession... i made a huge faux pas with the tracks.... but think i might have gotten away with it! once completely done i dont think it will be too visable....

After my mistake i cannot face anymore track cutting!! haha... so here is a pic of where i have ended the night..... not a huge diference from yesterday... but another 50 sections of track done and added!

I just thought i would add a little comment. I have managed to source some scaled rivets from www.antenocitisworkshop.com. Their selection of parts sees amazing and the girl on the phone was really helpful! they are due for arival tomorrow 10/10 so i cant wait to see what they are like and then getting stuck into some serious riveting!!

More updates soon! Track parts finished just need to add detail to the left side panels and sponsons.... and then riveting.... that only leaves me with a little decision to make on what canon to look for from Blood & Skulls... and then an engine unit!

There might be a small glimer of light at the end of the tunnel........

EXCITING TIMES...... I HAVE RIVETS!!!! Got to say on this note....... www.ANTENOCITISWORKSHOP.COM .... great service... and awesome choice of parts!

I figured i had saved a lot of money so far in the build so i pushed the boat out a little for these...... Round sections with square bolt heads.... they are lovely!

but i wasnt quite expecting them to be so small ( stupid thing to say i know)

Any way... some pics... as i am at work... and then this evening i am aiming to get the turret rivetted!!
