Wow, nice Stalker...

Don't know if you have mentioned it earlier, but what colour do you use as the base for the Raptor scheme ?

I use Castellan Green (or however you spell it) as the base colour. I then spray Vallejo Model Air Dark Green from above to create a highlight and wash it with Agrax. That's pretty much all I do in terms of the colour green on these guys.

After a few weeks of being ill I've managed to get pictures of the rest of the finished models in the army.

Some better pics of the Librarian.

My plasma toting Tactical Squad.

Plus their ride:

Can also double up as a Razorback with choice of Lascannon or Heavy Bolter.

My second Tactical squad.

Plus their Razorback (mostly for close fire support as I often outflank the Grav guns in it).

Throw in a Storm Talon for Air Superiority.

Then add a Predator for some dakka.

(Also converts into a Razorback or Rhino depending on needs).

, so much awesomeness in that latest post !

I just love :
- The Librarian just looks gritty and without the usual "grandeur" that the SM psykers boast, but is still easily identified as such. Looks great !
- The OSL on your models (plasma & others) are really convincing !
- The use of Sternguard bits on regular models !

Keep it up

Those are look killer. I second the Librarian being just completely BA. He looks like he means serious business.

And I really dig the Sarge doing the 'HOLD' gesture. These guys are excellent.

Great stuff mate! Really cool and gritty! That colour scheme is pure boss!!

And the weathering on the tanks is truely epic!

As my father once said to me : You cant polish a turd... but you can roll it in glitter!

Wow, loving the weathering on these guys. I am a fan of this chapter anyway, and your rendition of them is superb. They really look the part on that scenery piece too.

Wow, you made them look like actual marines. Nice. I wish Space Marines looked like that more often rather than covered in scraps of paper and robes. The work on the vehicles and the scenery is great, too. I especially like the shot of the Predator with the scenery. Very nicely done.

My Raptors have gone to a new home in Gibraltar but that doesn't mean I'm off the hook for painting them. Nope their new owner has commissioned me to paint up a unit of Centurions, a Drop Pod and a Landraider in the same style.

So today I got started on the Centurions.

Unfortunately I have to leave them at this stage as I ran out of the next highlight colour and I can only buy it online as there isn't a local stockist.

I will say this though: Man do Centurions take along time to assemble. I wasn't expecting them to take as long as they did with each one taking nearly 45 minutes each to build in the end.

Waiting for paints to arrive so I did the most logical thing: Painted the inside of the Drop Pod.

I had forgotten how much I dislike painting Droppods. The sheer surface area that needs to be painted for a 35 point model is ridiculous.

The plasma OSL was really well done but imo a little bright. I could see it being that bright hot when its ready to overheat...but not when their standing there. That's just a minor detail because your painting ability far outclasses mine. Great job cant wait to see the Landraider.

Finished up all the commissions for now.

The client wanted a Captain with the Burning Blade and Shield Eternal and asked if I could convert something up for him. This model is based on the Plastic Captain with Combi-Grav with various bits of Sternguard and Vanguard thrown in.

Wow, nice job. Those marines sure look good in a military colour scheme. To be honest, I'm not a big fan of the abundance of OSL here. The plasma guns are gone great but on the lascannons and vehicle headlights, I'm not so sure. The lascannons need wat more contrast I feel, and the headlights, well, they're blue. They make sense purely in colour scheme, but not in light of the otherwise realistic flair you're got going on.

Some more commissions for the Raptors completed this week.

My client loves the over the top glow I've given this army so when it came time to do some thunder hammers the brief was to ramp it right up!

He also wanted a Knight in Raptors colours/heraldry so I borrowed a little from House Cadmus and came up with Retribution:

The weapon was magnetised to swap between a Errant and Paladin easily. It was far easier to do than I was expecting barely increasing the build time at all.

Really like what you've done with them. Those terminators and sternguard are particularely good. Much prefer muted main colours. It's more realistic-looking and it lets any small amount of bright colour for the details stand out much more. I'm doing something similar with a space wolves based army at the moment.

Wow, this is a great army. You paint really quickly too! I really like the weathering.

Do you spend any time doing brush highlights or do you focus primarily on weathering and airbrush shading?

For this army it's just airbrush highlighting and weathering on the infantry. Vehicles get a light drybrush to pick up the sharp edges but that's all.

Very nice, so how long on average does a unit of infantry take you to paint?

I'm really digging on this army and I can't wait to see the knew Knight made up and painted.

Another question, the head on that Knight looks static, is it cast that way or are you in process of assembly?

It can turn left and right. It's fixed to a ball joint as well so you have a lot of pose potential. By this point I'd already assembled the torso.

The infantry take me less than two hours each I think although I haven't timed them recently. I know I can knock a five man squad out in one night.

That's pretty cool that you can bang out a squad a night!

That Knight is the next one I am thinking of buying, what do you think all and all regarding construction, ease of creating a dynamic pose, quality of casting etc?

Shrewsbury

The casting quality is excellent (yet to have problems with large forgeworld models) and it's far more pose able than a regular knight. It's constructed more like their Titans with all the pistons in two parts, individual toes and ball socket joints everywhere there should be one.
