May seem like thread necromancy, but relevant and current news has emerged regarding this kickstarter.

Backers have received (worldwide, including myself in Australia) a letter of bankruptcy from the kickstarter owner. The project was apparently 70% fulfilled and many people are out a lot of money. Due to a lot of behind-the-scenes post kickstarter purchases, refunds and reselling we're unsure exactly what amount the project owner had left, only that all assets relating to the project were sold for a measly $2,000 (maybe as little as 1/10th of the discounted value by backer estimates). Delaying tactics had been in place since May where timelines were pushed back to an absolute deadline of december before the letter was issues in early Feburary (received earlier this week). Apparent issues with the painter on top of pushes for refunds (well after the delivery date) had drawn out the process, and communications were getting sporadic towards the end of 2014.

It looks like the owner has no intention of fulfilling the rest of the pledges, so I guess beware of even fulfilled kickstarters.

Personally I'm out over $500 (almost half is just the *shipping* cost from Canada).
