Yeah, five sides :/

I printed the crimson fist logo on clear plastic and cut it out with an exacto.

Then i attached it with blue tac and airbrushed from the same angle all over.

there was quite a bit of over spray outside the stencil because it didnt sit stuck to the surface.

Cleaned that up with a brush.

The arrow was done with masking tape, was a lot easier and didnt require clean up.

Started work on a chaplain today.

Got the PF/CA version.
Cut away the old legs and put him on running assault marine legs.
I might not always want to run him with power fist so i magnetized the right arm, put together another arm with a skull shoulder plate from old metal death company and put magnets in the wrist and shoulder joints.
This allows me to use other right hands i have finished earlier as well as more to come.
Im looking at running him with a combi flamer to start.
Also the backpack is magnetized, i dont see myself going with a jump pack but now i have the option.

Nice conversion work. If you ever want to try out Ultramarine tactics, the c-flamer version would make for a good counts as Cassius. More options are always good, magnets are out little magic friends.

I have a lot of fun with a jump chaplain, definatly give him a try some time with a few assault marines.

Thanks!

Will might look into the UM chapter tactics for fun since im looking to put together at least 10 assault marines with switchable backpacks to be used counts as blood claws so i will have the option.

The list im currently aiming for is this:
Primary CAD Crimson Fists chapter tactics

Libby with sword, based on the DV libby.
see earlier page.

Dreadnought with Twin-Link Heavy Flamer/Powerfist-Heavy Flamer.
Based on Black Reach Dread, gonna paint up a left power fist and either convert the MM or get a Flamestorm Cannon arm for use as the TLHF.
In a Drop Pod with Deathwind Launcher.

5 Scouts in a Storm.

10 Tacs with Plasma/Cplasma in a Rhino.

10 Tacs with Melta/Cmelta in a Rhino.

Stormtalon, havnt got this one yet,

5 Devastators with 3 Lascannons.

Space Wolf Allied Detachment, will be painted as Crimson Fists with grey shoulder rims to mark them as part of the 8th Company which is the reserve assault company.

Chaplain / Wolf Priest, the one ive worked on today.

A full squad of Assault Marines / 9 Blood Claws with a Wolf Guard Leader

In a Stormwolf, it will have all runes and other SW specific details taken off it, some fist specifics added and it will be painted to to fit the Crimson Fists.

Looks like a fun list.

Yeah i hope so, should be pretty mobile and be able to deal with a variety of different opponents.

Ive been building lots of different lists since i started these Crimson Fists, initially i was going with the libby, five sniper scouts, three tac squads, two in rhinos and one in a drop pod, two ironclads with dual flamers in drop pods, a full unit of devastators, a tfc and something else i forget.

I kind of wanted a stormraven for its functionality in an army but didnt want to go with it in heavy support, after the Stormwolf dropped i knew i wanted to get me one of those, incidentally i think it looks a lot nice than the Stormraven as well.

And since im now getting a flier i need another one, cant go with just one flier

Both the Stormtalon and the Stormraven make me think of Metal Slug but not in a positive way, the talon is lot better than the raven tho and it has sorta grown on me since it came out.

Nice Chaplain. I like the weathered appearance of him.

What made you change the legs on him?

Thanks!

I dont like details that covers up the power armour and especially if those details are harder than the armour to paint

There we go!

I finished up the optional right arm while i was at it.

Ill hold off painting the icon on his left shoulder pad, gonna look into options with brass etch since im no good with freehand.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I had an old Captain Tycho model left over from a trader i did a while back.

I already have a Tycho painted up from back before i got into Orks, however Tycho is one of my fave minis citadel has released, i dunno why.

So i figured id make this double into a sargent.

I gave my new jewellers saw a try and was able to remove the shoulder pads inside, leaving the trim intact, after that i sawed apart a crimson fist shoulder pad and stuck that in the slot on the mini.
I also did a headswap since i want helmets on my whole force and went for a Corvus helmet since thats what my other sargents wear.
I bought most of the minis in this force 2nd hand and the sarges all wore Corvus so i didnt change that figuring that survivors of rynn were more likely to use older marks of armour.
His drop of blood on the chain around his neck was replaced by a fist.

I figure ill just paint up the other blood drops as blood drops seeing as the crimson of the crimson fists is blood and this guy has served with detachments of blood angels earlier in his career and won the honours he bears.

Did some more work on the drop pod, it just needs to have its weapons painted and its exteriors scuffed up a bit for it to be completely done.

I tried to magnetize the bottom/doors/flower part to the top but even with five magnets it didnt stick together steadily enough, i gave that up and made latches to keep it together instead, they work well enough for any normal handling and will allow me to swap in the interior for troop transportation, initially tho i will be using it for a dreadnought and wont care about painting the harnesses even though i have put them together.

Worked on the transport for my allied detachment, right now im looking at building a full Assault Squad / 9 Blood Claws with a Wolf Guard leader for the troops choice, they will have magnetized backpacks, one will have a magnetized powerfist and another one or two will have special weapon options.

Took pretty much all wolf details off it, replaced the hood ornament with a fist, gonna look at putting something where the wolf heads on the sides of the front used to be.
The model is a delight to build, its the most recent GW kit ive had my hands on except DV marines since forever.
Magnetized the weapon options.

Wow, that de-wolfed nicely. When I first saw the sprues I thought it would take an inordinate amount of work to remove all the fur and fangs. But you canā€™t tell it didnā€™t start itā€™s life as a generic imperial flyer in your pic.

Well done!

Thanks!

The hard part was getting rid off the big wolf heads on the sides, i used a rotary sander to get most of them and then scraped with an exacto to get it smooth, not perfect but im happy enough with it.
(The Stormfang would be a lot harder, requiring pretty much a rebuild of the whole weapon/hull.)

Other than that it was mostly just shaving off small raised parts which should present no problem to most people that have cleaned mold lines or sprue off a few minis.

I have yet to do anything about the helfrost cannon turret, im thinking i might leave the sides with the runes off, making plasma style accelerator coils instead and calling it a Twin-Linked Plasma Imploder or something.

Damn, that looks good. I'm looking to see how you continue it.

In addition to continuing to slowly work on my own Crimson Fist army, I had been wondering for awhile now how feasible it was to dremel the SW iconography off the Storm Wolf. I'd been thinking of building a Carcharodons army using SW rules and wanted to use the Storm Wolf or Storm Fang - I wasn't excited, though, at what I'd have to do to de-Wolfify the vehicle, though. It's nice to see how cleanly it came out.

Man, I wish there was a real Black Library where I could get a Black Library Card and take out Black Library Books without having to buy them. Of course, late fees would be your soul. But it would be worth it. - InquisitorMack

Thanks dude!
You have some sweet crimson fists going, i love 2nd ed starter marines and 2nd ed multiparts interspersed in the units, hadnt seen those for a while

The SW dex is a pretty good fit for the carcharodons, full aggression
Ive been thinking of Astral Claws/Red Corsairs, Ally with IG for The Tyrants Legion, thunderwolves as their special biker units, using the special detachment to get infiltrating troops a la Huron and extra HQs for wolf guard battle leaders as Legion Centurions to put in the IQ units.
There are some other specialized stuff that can be represented as well im sure.

I havnt gotten any more done on the Stormwolf over the weekend, i went to a rave where infected mushroom were playing after the last update and didnt get back home until maybe 10 the morning after so i slept away most of sunday.

What i have managed tho is to de-sprue and put together the genestealers and punch all the card stuff from my Space Hulk set as well as put together a sniper scout squad.

I kinda dont want to airbrush in the evenings unless its the first thing i do when i get home from work at half past seven at best since the direct acting compressor does vibrate a bit.

Needs gloss, oilwash, chipping and matte.

Started the pilot, turret and sponsons.

Needs Gloss, oilwash, chipping, OSL on the Twin Frostcannon/Plasma Imploder and matte.

EDIT: oh, and i finally did the storm bolters from my rhinos and the deathwind launcher for the drop pod.

There we go

I also finished up the dreadnought arms so the match the dreadnought.

While i was waiting for the oil wash yesterday i went through my old boxes, sprues and bitz and collected enough stuff to build 10 assault marines/counts as blood claws.
Im just missing shoulder pads with fist icons so i think im gonna put them together and either paint them with one shoulder pad or wait for my order to drop in.

Things that i have but need to finish that are to be included in the army as im looking to initially run it:
Master of the Forge from a TFC, gonna get a magnetized wrist so i can swap out weapons/combi weapons.
Land Speeder Storm, need to convert a heavy flamer onto it.

Things i dont have but need for the army as im intending to run it initally:
Stormtalon
CC Scouts

Nice work, mate. I like the weathering, especially on the flyer. That thing looks sleek and fast without the Space Wolf bling.
Hmm, the OSL might be a bit on the harsh side though.

Thanks!

Yeah i think it looks a lot nicer when its cleaned from SW detail like this, im very happy with how it has turned out.

OSL, this is my third try with the technique and i think its good enough for now, some of the gradient disappeared in the photo but anyways, different stroke as they say

No Pics tonight but i did some work.

On monday i bought a second hand Master of The Forge and had it sent from the other side of the country.

It got here earlier today, i stripped off the many layers of paint with red methanol, cut off his Bolter hand, put a magnet in the wrist so he can have options(looking at a Combi Flamer) and changed out the Power Axe arm for a Bolt Pistol arm with a Crimson Fist icon shoulder plate.

Put together five assault marines with magnetized regular backpacks, initially im going to run them as blood claws.

I decided i wanted to try putting minis on wire for painting so i put wires in their feet and punched holes in a box that now works as a stand for the minis-on-wires.

Im gonna finish the rest of them tomorrow i hope, gotta magnetized the sarge and another couple of guys for flamers and power weapons.

Except that im still waiting for the left shoulder plates with fist icon to show up.

Might go ahead and paint them up missing that bit, paint the plates after i get them and glue em on.

EDIT:

Finished up the rest of the assaulters, in total there are 7 with pistol/ccw, 1 with flamer, 1 with ccw and switchable pistol/flamer , 1 with pistol and switchable pf/ps that will be either a sarge if running as marines or just a regular blood claw with special close combat weapon if running them as SW.

Im using VMA colours, Blue Angels with shadows in Signal Blue, highlights in French Blue and then a wash of GW Drakenhoof Nightshade.
The photo makes them look a bit brighter than they really are.

Ah yes, comparing the assault squad blue to the blue on the chaplains shoulders I can see a marked difference in the shades.

Guess that's what lighting can do to a photo.

Any plans for doing Kantor yet? No Chapter is complete without the chapter master!

Ive got the 25th Anniversary Space Marine with Kantors backpack and bolter arm that i intend to use as him.

Though there are no immediate plans to paint him up since i dont have any Sternguard yet, i generally want to run more units rather than expensive HQs.

I did some basing yesterday.

MoTF with magnetized combi-bolter and Siege Dread.
Im gonna do some more details on the MoTF whenever.

5 Assault Marines / Blood Claws, power sword arm is magnetized, gonna paint up a power fist alternative
Got shoulder pads with Fist icon coming in the mail, they will have grey trim to mark this unit out for when its used as Blood Claws and to show they are from the 8th Company.

5 Assault Marines / Blood Claws more, one has a magnetized flamer/bolt pistol.
Got shoulder pads with Fist icon coming in the mail, they will have grey trim to mark this unit out for when its used as Blood Claws and to show they are from the 8th Company.

Based the Stormwolf.
I went back and wrestled the lascannons loose, magnetized them and the stormstrike missiles option as well and got a Razorback kit for the twin las turret that im gonna paint up for this model.
This way it will be armed wisywig for being a counts as Stormraven.

As i was priming the bases i also did 5 Sniper Scouts i had built earlied.

After the basing was done for today i built a box of CC Scouts, these are also going to be painted on lenghts of wire, like the assault marines, becase it proved to save a lot of hassle to not have bases attached while airbrushing and for painting the bases as well.

So im getting closer to completion on my 1500pts list.

Whats left:
Painting Cc scouts and a Storm for them.
Building and painting a Stormtalon.

Hopefully ill be getting some hobby in after work this coming week.

Yeah i think it looks a lot nicer than with the wolves on it.

Thanks mate

Update:

I primed the CC scouts.

Im sure everyone has seen scouts before but i know i was looking around to find good helmets to put on them, found only few examples of alternate heads on scouts, chanced a buy that worked out great and will now share it

Space Marine Scouts with Helmets.

These helmeted heads are from Pig IronĀ“s Kolony Militia range, they were really affordable and arrived quickly, quality is very nice, hardly any mold lines and the sculpts look great.

I figure they have built in light amplification as well as filters in the masks and can connect O2 as needed from the nozzle hanging across the chestplate.

Looks like i might get off work an hour early tomorrow, if so im gonna try and the blue on these.

So scouts are not yet full members of the chapter and therefore dont get a crimson left hand, what about sargeants? They have full marine stat lines but are they full marines with the right to wear a crimson left hand?
