I'll call it by its name. It says Astra Militarium on the codex. That should answer the question in my opinion.

I'll call it whatever I damn well please.

I'll call it Susan if it pleases me.

It'll always be Imperial Guard in my heart.

Imperial Guard... Astra Militarum sounds stupid, the sort of name you say and makes you realise "wait a second, I'm a grown man playing with a child's toy".

Actually I just realized something, I need to call them Imperial Guard no matter what. Longstrike has Preferred Enemy(Imperial Guard). Until they FAQ that to Preferred Enemy(Astra Militarium) I won't be able to use that ability because there is no army named "Imperial Guard" in the game!

I'm not actually making this argument, but I can see the YMDC call threads springing up now.

Either, both, whatever. IG or AM.

I'm not fussed by it at all.

Probably "your codex" as in "Do you have your codex handy?" I don't really refer to codexes by name unless it's in casual conversation, and then it's more by nick name (Marine, Sisters, Nids, Orks, Space Elves, Chaos Marines, ect).

Good thing GW is (supposably) working on updating those things, eh?

Astra Militarum sounds so much cooler, faux Latin is badass guys.

Space Wolfs should be Astartes Lupus
Blood Angels Astartes Sanguinus
Orks hopefully get named Astra Fungiods

So much cooler than those lame names

I mean they still call themselves space marines in the book, so I assume Astra Militarum will be sort of like a full blown title call out like when the space marines want to primp themselves over how they're the peoples protectors super humans the space marines, Astartes supremitorium-w/e-burble-le-blub.

Pretty much this, "Astra Militarum" (like "Militarum Tempestus") will be said with a faux posh Made-In-Chelsea style horseface and voice.

Otherwise it's still going to be Guard and 'Troopers

Yeah. IG and Storm Troopers for me as well.

Who the heck is gonna call 'em with the new name? It's IG for most of the players.

The GW literally renamed one of their iconic armies of the 40K a "space military", and they expect us to call it like that?
I'm sorry, but I can't imagine a guy who says it out loud with a serious tone.

"Gardist"...sometimes Astra Militarum when I need to specificy the new codex. But its still guardsmen.

Astra Militarum doesn't roll off the tongue very quickly.

"Guard" or "I.G." is easier to say than "Astra Militarum" or even "A.M."

Perhaps if we just called them "Astrums". It flows better than the codex name.

Nah, I'm sticking with IG.

It'll always be IG or Guard for me. Thought in time "The Militarum" might start grow on me (like a bad rash?). All in all The fact is that that on very first page is:
Astra Militarum
(crest)
Imperial guard
