A very good point. The others are half the tank commander that he is.

I want to like Chronus, and even own and have painted him, but he lacks a decent ride. He’s too expensive to put in the cheap tanks, and the LRs don’t need him.

Longstrike isn't a commander. Hes just a really good pilot. But a Hammerhead in his hands does wonders.
I don't know too much on the other two but Pask has commander in his title. Plus he commands a whole squad of tanks, nether Longstrike or Cronus can do this outside of Apocalypse.

Longstrike is TL against IG due to preferred enemy. He misses one out of every 36 times.

And no one who wants to keep calling the army IG instead of 'Astra Militarum' can't pull that one without really looking like an donkey-cave. Plus the book says Imperial Guard a few hundred times inside which is enough to point out that it's an official synonym.

Past the first page, there isn't a single mention of Astra Militarum in the book aside from the rules. If someone is dense enough to argue that certain rules don't apply because of a name change which is an official synonym, you're in the wrong hobby. There's being rules-focused, and then there's being the worst example of a pedant.

To be on topic, I think Pask is now king of armour. Sure, weisemann has a Baneblade, but Pask actually stands a good chance of killing him with a Punisher for less than half the points. Put him in a Punisher, and you have one the most cost effective anti-everything units in the game in my opinion; rending on that many BS4 shots, which re-roll to pen vehicles is a threat to hordes, elite infantry, fliers and especially vehicles. All in a tastey AV14 vehicle.

Now, that being said, Longstrike is quite good, doubly so against Guard, as while he lacks the same all-round offensive power of Pask, he has more flexibility of movement and a very important almost guaranteed 4+ save. A Paskisher has to be aggressive, move up and may not get much of a chance of getting a save, or if he does, it'll be limited to certain arcs and so on. Longstrike always has a 4+ so long as he nudges somewhere, and can fly up on top of things, or into a ruin for a 3+, and doesn't care what angle he's being shot from. I had one Apoc game where Longstrike stood on top of this giant stone arch we use for those kind of games with line of sight on *everything* blasting tanks at will. I wouldn't discount him.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I really don't see Pask scoring 9 glancing hits on a Baneblade in one turn. The Punisher cannon is only S5, so the best he can do is glance.

Not really. The Baneblade out-ranges the Paskisher by a huge margin, so there's a decent chance of dying before ever getting to fire a punisher cannon shot. And once he gets in close he has to deal with a twin-linked demolisher cannon and two lascannons in addition to the main gun. Meanwhile the Baneblade has three times the HP and doesn't suffer damage results or explode.

I was actually rather happy to see how often they said IG in it despite the new name.

Anyways, what's everyone's opinion on the new Executioner? As a tank commander/Pask? I was honestly bummed to see them remove the Plasma safety and trying to decide whether I should push on with the unit (it's my favorite tank) or if I should just put it to rest for now due to it glancing itself to death every game.

It's not as bad as it seems. The point reduction lets you take a divination psyker to twin-link it, which makes "gets hot" pretty much irrelevant and improves the accuracy significantly compared to the old codex. I'd probably just take a Stormblade or Warhound though.

As a tank commander/Pask?

Probably not worth it. BS 4 isn't all that impressive on a blast weapon that's almost always twin-linked already, and Pask's special ability is terrible compared to what the other variants get. I'd just take it in heavy support like usual, unless you really need the FOC swap.

Correct me if I am wrong; but the new IG dex allows you to take (mind you this is just an example):

HQ: Pask (can take up to 2 more LR)
HQ2: Tank commander (can take up to 2 more LR)
and for your 3 heavy slots 2 Manticores, and 3 Wyverns (squadron counts as one slot)

This would be legal correct, obviously once you complete the list with troops and such. But very cool to get that much armor on the board.

I quite like longstrike. For 45 points you get a hammerhead with BS5, PE(IG), TH, BS filter, and can over-watch. And it's not limited to over-watching once per turn either.

One is a genetically enhanced super soldier driving some of the best tanks the imperium can produce.

The next has a technical wonder of targeting systems to aid him and a tank that can fly, not to mention the main weapon.

And the last drives a tractor with guns bolted on.

I'll give this one to Pask

Query. How does Chronus get in a Super-heavy?

He can only get in Tanks, and Super-heavy vehicles are technically not Tanks.

SGT Chronus' doesn't specifically say "vehicle type tank" it just says he can command any tank. Key word ANY.

A fellblade is a super heavy but the title is...Fellblade Super Heavy Tank. It's the name of the tank in the IA V2 2E. That's the latest publication.

It gets pricey but I like him in my Sicaran, it's nice to give it IWND. Even though the accelerator cannon is heavy 6 twin linked I have yet to ever not get 6 hits with chronus.
