I imagine the troopers are marching down the corridor in a massive battleship towards their dropships while the leaders plan a frontal assault against the eldar.
Looks good so far!!!

Good (and that's probably an understatement) to this project rolling again!
The towering buildings on the side maybe give it a sort of oppressive look, perhaps better suited with the "returning and decimated" regiment than a leaving for combat parade, but that's just a thought.
Moss and lichen would be a good add-on to the rock walls, too.

Welcome back J-paint - glad to see this project is still progressing even without an update in a while
The set up looks fantastic, and the resizing of the 'board' certainly adds to the dramatic impact the final result will undoubtably achieve. My only suggestion would be that you might want to increase the height of the buildings by maybe one or two levels to make the buildings TRUELY imposing - the original artwork you've used to base the diorama on I think suggest soaring spires rather than just a 'standard' Shrine build... But that's just my opinion - I dare say it'll turn out fine regardles!
Looking forward to the next update

@Paradigm, Warboss, San, - Thanks guys! encouragement is always appreciated!
@ Queen anne- Exactly so! Thats how I see it anyway!
@Gogsnik - Ty, the lichen is something I will try soon-ish, the pools are maybe a bit tricky what with it being on a flat surface, but yeah, a trickle out of one rock might be a cool idea!
@Ryannnn - Lol thats a very specific image! but i'm glad you can see a story behind what is currently some foam and wood!
@ Littletower - I was tending to think they would be going in to fight, but tthats not to say it cant be oppressive! I like to think that they are marching into some hell and will have to fight in a few minutes rather than it being a pompous parade!
@Phutarf - Thanks, in an ideal world i think you're right, I would love to stretch it up into the heavens, to stupid proportions, but I think for my sanity and the over all cost of the project I'm going to be limited by what I have below, Its the balancing act between the initial vision and how much time you can physically put in.
So thanks for bearing with me guys, figured I would show you just how long it seems to take me to do anything recently, have made a teeeeny bit of progress with the trooper green, mostly you wont be able to tell, but i promise it is building up slowly!
I have also started adding some bits and bobs to the downstairs cave command room to make it look a bit more, well, command-y. nothing is stuck yet, this is just a quick blue tack set up, the other plan is to have a pingpong ball in the centre to act as the hololithic map and have an obscene number of cables coming down from the ceiling.
And finally I have unpacked all my shrine kits and laid out what i think will be the rough idea for my above ground scene, thoughts? I unfortunately have to use the broken wall pieces as I cant justify buying any more of the damn kits!
Be gentle noble dakkarites.

Lol - I totally understand where you're coming from, on both cost and sanity fronts - don't get sucked into an endless spiral of good but costly in time and money embellishments... That way madness lies!
I had really been thinking in terms of single wall pieces from the Administratum or Basilica kits rather than additional shrine levels, but on seeing the ground level mock up I think your vision will work just fine - the perspective given from the depth of the board will 'add' height anyway. Mind you, and this is just my OCD speaking, if you could stretch to just one more Shrine to "even up" the two sides.....
Love the command cave set up too - this is going to be fantastic once complete

Good work, going to look great.
One slight niggle, If it's a parade, shouldn't your troop be walking and not standing still? Or have they just not set off yet?

Phutarf - Lol you really are playing devil's advocate....i will have a think, you shouldn't tempt me though, I have little enough will power to resist buying more as it is!
Camkierhi- Tyvm!
Lol Dr H, a very good point, and I tried a marching style pose and it looked almost goofy, my current thoughts on this minor quibble is that they are marching but at this exact snapshot they have had to halt, I have two explanations, 1st I am toying with the idea of there being two guys/sentinels/something at the front with flamers melting a snow mound that has got in the way, causing the column to halt, or 2) the guy at the front has called a halt to listen to the illogical and garbled orders coming from beneath his feet? Thoughts?

This looks like an awesome project, can't wait to see how it progresses
I think both explanations as to why the column has stopped could work, but my personal vote goes to two guys/sentinels clearing the way for the others. You could make it a bit more eerie by replacing the snow mound with some corpses of the enemy the IG drove out of the city (or, even more lugubrious, some dead citizens).
The commanding officer could be sitting on his vehicle, cursing at the guys cleaning up, telling them to work faster

If they are on parade, and not in combat, you could have them halting to be presented to an Inquisitor or local dignitary. This would create a nice contrast with the grittier war scene below, allow you to include some models that aren't guardsmen, and make sense fluff wise.

Lay out looks very good. Nice statue!
Are you taking requests yet? Maybe adding some lightning in the sub-level, as not to loose the detail of what is going to be going on over there?
Maybe a led lamp or too hanging from the ceiling, or making the central holo-map you mentioned earlier a light source for the underground scene?
(Just adding these because I'm not the one actually building it, it'll sure look great either way!)
