I'm really looking forward to this one, provided that...

...The Price Is Right!

I can see using this terrain and mat for a lot of games...

Including Wolsung, of course!

First of all this weekend you can expect the start of our kickstarter

By the way we wanted to share with you a small preview of one of our terrain pledges.
Pledge Downtown 230$
2x XIX Century Block of Flats
3x XIX Century Walkway
2x XIX Century Walls
1 x Ware Piles Set

The HDF board is not included, it's just for photo purposes. I'm sure that you will ask why It's to heavy! This boards are extremely heavy and the shipping costs would be tremendous

But we will be offering our awesome gaming mats as an add-on for 38 $ ( Gaming mats are made out of a materiel similar to that of a mousepad. No major wrinkles if loosely folded not rolled and it levels itself once spread.)

The area covered in the picture is 100x100cm

Very interested. I backed your Indiegogo... love the terrain. I have a few of the flats and walkways already so interested in the other options that are available.

Will keep an eye on this one

I would say your design is all over the place.

I see some 1880-1905-ish looking figures then I see 1930's like gangster types. The styles are fifty years difference apart.

Tommy-guns don't belong, tailored suits and wing-tip saddle shoes don't belong.

A tabletop game is as much about the visual as it is the abstract.

If you want to use tommy-guns and gangster suits, then add vacuum tubes and diesel engines and call it 'dieselpunk'.

Steampunk as a genre has a very distinct H.G. Wells, Jules Verne, Victorian period architecture feel. There has been over the last few years such a solidification of that aesthetic that a deviation from it is glaring and recognizable.

I'm only saying this to encourage you to be more focused with your ideas and think them through a bit more.

I think a 'dieselpunk' setting would be a great idea, no one is doing it much right now. It could take pulp gaming to another level.

Armies: Space Marines, IG, Tyranids, Eldar, Necrons, Orks, Dark Eldar.

Even if he did do a dieselpunk theme game, people would still call it steampunk. Steampunk has become a bastardized term, unfortunately. go on to ebay and search for steampunk.

It's hilarious.

But I would love to see a strong setting in a Dieselpunk world, with all that beautiful art deco work, much like you see in Bioshock. They did their home work on that. Door knobs, tiles, walls, wood works. Amazing stuff in that game.

and of course, the neon.

100cm x 100cm is 3'+ x 3'+.

Nice!

If I did the math right, that $230 pledge a significant savings over the 'regular' price (about $300) - the real potential deal breaker there will be shipping, of course!

Also, will you be offering the excellent "XIX Century Warehouse" in a pledge or as an add-on too?

This is mostly a matter of taste and "accuracy" of term "steampunk"
We are using existing World (First there was a Wolsung RPG) We read about the halfling Mafia and that was so great idea for miniatures that we decided that we need to do this.
World of Wolsung is a mixture of steampunk/ fantasy (dragons)/ and pop culture. It's all about fun in the end.

And we promise - that we will not include any space marines ( unless they will look steampunky

So the terrain should fit great to WM and Malifaux. The WWX is made in larger scale ( ask guys form battle foam why they decided to do this
If you are looking for nice WWX terrain we also have it in our offer

So the retailer price for this pledge is about 330$ The shipping is 40$ to US, but if you take more pledges you pay only for the heaviest

not to get too off topic, but I feel sorry for a lot of European and Australian backers. Some member over at The Miniatures Page had to Pay over 200 bucks in taxes for his Wild West Exodus stuff.

Is there not a better way to get around this, legally?

Regarding scale...

I'll admit, I was hoping to dual purpose this Wolsung terrain for WILD WEST EXODUS too - so I'm sad to hear that might not work?

sadly not

1) either a company imports a container load of stuff into the EU (and they pay the taxes) and deal with cusoms, the container load can then be sent out by a forwarding company (some will handle the import paperwork for a fee, some won't) to the backers

while option 1 is more hassle for the company it may not be all that more expensive (depite paying taxes and for a forwarding service), especially if the packages are heavy as it's a lot cheaper to ship stuff within the EU than from the USA to the EU.... but it only really makes sense if you have a decent number of backers in the EU to send stuff too

or

the company ships from outside the EU to individual buyers, and they buyers pay VAT of approx. 20%, it varies from country to country (+ possible other charges and taxes too)

In theory a company could declare a fake value to minimise customs charges to the buyers, but this is ILLEGAL so not something they should do.
(They could possibly declare something like a manufacturing cost rather than a retail cost but the actual mechanics of this require a qualified EU tax/import export to determine exactly how and what to do which tend to be to expensive/inconvenient for most to do as if they try it and get it wrong once again it's illegal)

Sorry for being off topic also, but I believe if someone buys the KS for you from the territory it's sold from, in this case the EU, and then sent it to you as a gift it's exempt from import duties (I think). Although then you would be doubling up on postage.

Back on topic;

The minis on BoW look awesome. Can we expect the demo game with Warren soon?

I'm in the same boat, but finding 35mm terrain is basically impossible outside of the couple of MAS licensed buildings, so I just use as close to 35mm as possible. This looks like it might work. Hopefully we will see a comparative scale shot at some point during the campaign. If not it will be great for Malifaux, and could potentially work for WM.

Not to go too OT but for the life of me I'll never understand why the WWX made some of the decisions they made (scale, bases to name 2).

There are a few plastic model kits out there for model railroader focusing on the late 19th century that will be pretty close.

here is not much as 1950s on up are the more popular eras of model railroading.

You have talked about the shipping costs so it looks like that:

You only pay one shipping fee for the heaviest of the pledges you chose.

As you can imagine most of the pledges will be quite heavy, especially the terrain ones. Because of that we have prepared 3 distributions centers around the globe: in United States, Europe and Australia. Everything to Europe will be shipped from our studio. The US and Australian backers will get their rewards sent through distributors in their countries. Thanks to that you will be not be charged with any additional customs and taxes and the products will be shipped the cheapest way they can be.

Welp, you've pretty much just guaranteed that i'll be pledging for this one. Really high shipping costs would have been the only thing that potentially put me off from pledging.

Can't wait for this to start!

Micro Arts, Will you be adding the different terrain pieces as add-ons as well? I hope so. I love those walkways and I want a ton of them.
