Lovely clean casts, and even cooler models IRL. Looking forward to doing something creative with these.

The Double Team Bundle is a little above my budget, is there a plan of making a smaller "starter" set with like just 2 large mechs, the smaller droids and the rules and cards?

Short answer is yes, but not yet.

The drones were done in metal and ended up costing 3x more than the original quote way back when. For some reason their prices were just way off from the get go, thats why they were so cheap in the campaign. So I'm getting an all new quote to have them done in resin which should bring the costs down, and then that will lead to a cheaper starter bundle that will come with 1 light mech and 2 drones. But I probably won't have the price for that till next week, and then it will take a few weeks to make the molds and get the resin copies in.

These models are fantastic, I'm extremely pleased with the half dozen medium mechs I got . Sale looks good!

Is there a reason that Overkill is significantly cheaper than the other medium mechs on the webstore? Not that I'm complaining . Really love that more realistic paint job on him, too:

Yep it's because the other mechs have pricey metal shoulder bits and arm bits, but he's almost all resin. The medium mech chainguns are all 1 piece and they're resin. His only metal bits are the missile pods and booster jets.

I'm planning to go back and redo most of the medium mech parts in resin, but the mold costs add up quick so I'll just be doing a few at a time. First on the list will be the 2 different drone bodies since they're both the most expensive single pieces in the whole range. The were supposed to be the cheapest

We’ve slashed the prices on all Blackwater Gulch miniatures! All starter sets are now $15 USD, solo Hired Guns are $4 each and the rulebook is $10. All miniatures are available on our new online store here:

http://store.gangfightgames.com/blackwater-gulch/

All of the Blackwater Gulch miniatures will also be included as add-on items in the Bad Lands Kickstarter when we reboot that in April. This price change was part of the reason we canceled the first campaign, since people we’re already pledging for the old prices we couldn’t really change it. Next time we’ll have everything updated and correct. So you can order them now if you don’t want to wait, or you can add them to your Kickstarter pledge in April.

We are also moving forward with the first expansion for Blackwater Gulch, tentatively called “Vicious Beasts”. This will make a whole new faction for the game, based on the Skinwalkers (were-things) and other critters found in Bad Lands. It will likely take quite a while to get all of the new miniatures together, so rather than doing a big and costly splash release or Kickstarter campaign, we are just going to make and release them the old fashioned way, with downloadable playtest rules. That is still several months away, but I wanted to show off the preliminary sculpts for the first few beasts. Here is the Alpha Werewolf, followed by two standard Werewolves. They’re not finished yet, but you can get a good idea of how they will look. I posted these pics in the Bad Lands news thread a little while ago, but here they are again. You can click them to enlarge:

I'll have more information and playtest rules available for the expansion in the coming months, and I'll post pics of new sculpts as we get them

I thought it would be best to just update this post continually, rather than using those separate ones I had before for Bad Lands, etc. So going forward I’m just going to put all new news here and update the 1st post with important things like new campaigns.

We have a lot going on right now, and it’s going to be a busy summer!

The new Bad Lands kickstarter will be launching around the 2nd week of April. We may make that a shorter, 3-week campaign. I have updated game components on the way and will be making all new how to play videos shortly. The new campaign will have a $30,000 funding goal, with a $45 price tag for the game and will include EU-friendly shipping and a free Alpha Werewolf miniature. Other Blackwater Gulch minis will be available as add-ons again, and all stretch goals will be designed to add more stuff to the core game rather than making new add-ons.

Blackwater Gulch is now being self published by me once again, but will continue to be distributed/shipped by Game Salute. The prices of the miniatures were cut in half and have been selling very well. We are moving forward with the first expansion for an entire new Beast faction, centered around Skinwalkers (werewolves and other were-things). Sculpting is underway on new models starting with 3 werewolves (pictured above), and a PDF Vicious Beases playtest rulebook will done shortly. We’ll be releasing new individual models slowly over a time and not doing a retail release with a printed book until the faction is mostly finished. The new models will get added to our online store as they’re finished.

Mechadrome will be coming back in a big way in August. We will be launching a Kickstarter campaign to get the Terran Heavy Mech produced. There will be 2 variants - Terran Titans will get Behemoth, he’ll be armed with a Railgun, Plasmagun, 2 Chaingun turrets and 1 Missile Pod. Team Bushido will get Kaiju, he’ll have 1 Wrecking Ball, 1 Siege Drill, 2 Blaster Turrets and 1 Chaingun turret. We are planning to package both together in the same box, with Mech Cards for each pilot, so you will have all weapon options to create your own payloads or for magnetizing fun. We will have the model sculpted, printed and master copies produced ahead of time to show it off properly, and the campaign will be small and focused to recoup sculpting costs and fund the production run. We also intend to introduce Rookies to the game, as a squad of 3 men in heavy armor carrying around a big gun. The Rookies will be similar in size to a GW terminator and come on a 40mm base. They will likely have to be done as a stretch goal for the campaign though. Too early to tell.

That’s all for now. I should have concept art done for the Terran Rookies soon, and as usual I’ll share everything I get as soon as I get it!

Howdy folks

I’m still waiting for the new printed cards to show up }:( hopefully they’ll show up this week. I want to get started on my new videos, but I need them first. I’m going to be making a bunch of shorter 2-3 minute videos showing each part of the game, rather than one big one that drags. I thought that first one came out kinda boring.

I have the 3D sculpts for the werewolves all finished now. Here they are.. lots of parts, but that’s the only way to get the poses to come out good. The pyramid style plugs on each joint will make the parts fit together easy, so you just need a little super glue and you’re all set. We also had to close the mouths on all of the heads for them to come out right, if not the jaw would have had to be a whole other separate piece, or would have had to have a lot less detail.

I’ve decided to hold off on getting the 3D prints done right now and go ahead and get the Chupacabra sculpted too. I was going to just release the werewolves first but they kind of need some minions to make a proper starter set. So he’ll have 3 different poses, but since he’s a minion he’ll be a little smaller. Then all of them together will make up the Werewolf Starter Set for Blackwater Gulch. 1 Alpha Werewolf, 2 Werewolves and 3 Chupacabras. They’ll also be sold separately in packs of 3 Chupacabras, a pair of werewolves or 1 alpha. Those are also the amounts that we will have in Bad Lands, so players that want minis can get those and not have to worry about not having enough or ending up with too many. So I will have them all featured as add-ons in the new campaign, but I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get other beasts sculpted before the new campaign ends. Guess we’ll see how it goes

Right now it’s looking like the new campaign will happen around the 2nd week of April or so

In Mechadrome news, I just got some concept art for the Rookies, here it is

I haven't decided if I want to do them in pairs or units of 3, will need some playtesting. But they're basically going to be around as tough as a Drone, and as big as a GW terminator or so. They'll come on a round base and will only have ranged weapons. So there will be a railgun, plasmagun, blaster, rocket launcher and chaingun. The whole unit will have to have the same weapon, and they add their to hit dice together if they shoot the same target, but they will be allowed to target separate enemies if you want.

We're gonna be getting the heavy sculpted first in May, and then move on to these guys in the summer. I'm planning to have a couple painted resin masters for the heavy done for the KS campaign in August, but the Rookies will be a stretch goal for after the Heavy is funded.

I actually like the look of these guys. Will they be metal, resin, or a hybrid like the mechs?

The Last Chancer Who Survived

Don't know yet, I'd like to do all resin but we might do a hybrid if it's easier. I'd at least want to have the bodies be resin and the weapons could be metal if they're small. What I'm hoping to do is have 3 different poses, but a universal gun piece where the hands can always line up to the same spot, so you can use any gun piece with any body.

Eventually when they're done I plan to do team starter sets that have 2-3 rookies + 1 light mech. If the campaign goes well I'm also hoping to resinify lots of the metal parts from last time, starting with the medium mech since those parts are more expensive in metal.

And now back to BWG I got the 3D files for the werewolves and sent them off to the printer. Here are some high res renders I did, I added in Nightshade's 3D sculpt too for size comparisons They'll be about the same height, but bulkier. The alpha will be a little taller, close to 40mm tall to the top of his hand.

We have some updated Drones in the works for Mechadrome. The original models ended up being too big and more importantly too expensive. These new models look the same, but they will be a bit smaller and designed to fit on a 40mm base. They’ll be done in resin to hopefully get the price down even more. These new ones are designed to work with the Light Mech Missile Pod, rather than the bigger ones for Medium Mechs.

The bodies are being printed now and I hope to have them for sale probably around May or June

Here are some 3D renders:

Would be all over the werewolf guys if they had guns and some armored ones.. unless they're intended for BWG. Sci-fi dogmen with guns.. it's something I want I know there are some out there but there's not enough IMO!

Got the poses for the Chupacabra now Here he is. You can click the pics for the bigger gallery version.

They are going to be smaller than the wolves, about chest height. It turns out my 3D printer hasn’t started printing the wolves yet and it will take another 2 weeks, so we’re just going to do all 6 minis at the same time, then I can release them all a full starter set. I still plan to sell them separately too, as 1 alpha werewolf, 2 regular werewolves and 3 chupacabras. When I get the actual 3D files I’ll do renders with the whole pack together.

Also, I decided for the alpha werewolf we’re going to include a separate right arm that doesn’t have the totem staff, so you can have the option to give him a weapon or not, so here’s what he will look like with just a fist instead.

Howdy folks!

We finally finished the playtest rules for our upcoming expansion, Savage Beasts. You can download the PDF on our site at http://www.blackwatergulch.com

We're planning a Kickstarter campaign to fund some new Beast sculpts, that will probably be in June. It will be a short 2-week campaign just to fund the Werewolf starter pack, with a few stretch goals for other beasts, and a couple of new professions for human gangs.

We're hoping to have the Chupacabra sculpts finalized this week and off to the printers. The plan will be to get them painted up along with the werewolves, to show off in the campaign, so that's why I'm aiming for sometime in June at the moment

I got the final 3D files for the chupacabras today and just sent everything off to the printer! And as usual, I made some high res renders, you can click for bigger pics.

here's the finished Chupacabras

And here's the whole Werewolf Starter Pack - 3 Chupacabra minions, 2 Werewolves and 1 Alpha Werewolf

Hopefully I'll be able to get the master models done in the next couple of weeks.

In other news, we have an all new website. It's taken quite a while to get it all done, but we're almost there. I have the whole Blackwater Gulch section pretty much finished, and will be updating Mechadrome to match. The online store will still be the same though.

http://www.gangfightgames.com/

This new design will make it easier to show off stuff and have news integrated, along with social media too. I'll be setting up a facebook and twitter account too one of these days....

And also, I just got the concept art for the Preacher. Still doing some tweaks, but here she is now She was kind of based on Ruth from Hell on Wheels, with a little Van Helsing mixed in for spice.

Howdy Folks!

We have just updated the playtest rules for the Savage Beasts expansion. Included in this new version we've added rules for creating your own beasts, in addition to new rules to divide up the current and future models into 4 primary factions and 2 supporting factions.

The Vigilance Committee, Widowmakers, Dockside Drifters and Wilde's Rangers make up the Lawmen faction. The Clancy Gang, Bandidos Mexicanos, Bloodwolf Tribe and Secret Fist form the Outlaw faction. The Tranquility Crew are neutral and like other Hired Guns may fight for either side.

And for the upcoming supernatural creatures, all Beasts will be one faction, the Undead will be the second faction and released later, and Demons are unique enemies that may join either side, just like Hired Guns.

This change is done primary for fluff and background reasons, the actual game rules for all of the above gangs will not change. We will however be putting together new character cards for all gangs. The data won't change, so your old cards are still valid. These new ones just look nicer We'll have these updated versions available to download soon. For now, you can grab the updated Savage Beasts rules from our site

Quick update for Mechadrome, Dave sent a little video of the new Blaster Drone just to show how the new turret will look, here it is

So we're going to replace the old Crawler drone with the new Missile Drone (pics a few posts up), and the Blaster Drone will get the old rover body. They'll both be resized to fit nicely on a 40mm base, and will be done in resin to get the prices down.

Since my Kickstarter timelines keep pushing themselves back, I'm just going to release these new drones when they're ready. Also planning to do new official starter sets for each team finally, that will have 1 light mech and 2 drones. Still have to think of which pilots I want to include

Best guess is the new drones will probably be available around late June

Come play Blackwater Gulch at Origins!

Porkuslime will once again be running BWG demos at Origins, June 3 - 7 at 10 AM and 2 PM daily. There’s more info down in our forum here
http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/648492.page

In other news, we have some mostly-concrete upcoming release dates now.

In June we’ll be releasing the Gatling Gun as a single model. Up till now it’s only been available in the Wilde’s Rangers set, but a lot of folks have been asking to offer it separately, so we are! It should be available in the next couple of weeks. We were going to hold off and offer that in the new Kickstarter campaign, but I figured why not just do it now since it’s looking like the campaign will be more like July now. Not exactly sure yet, but I think it will be $5. Will post when it’s available, of course.

Then, in July, we plan to release the new Missile and Blaster Drones for Mechadrome. They will be available separately and in discounted squad packs of 3 of the same drone. No idea what the price will be until we can get the molds made though, but I'm guesstimating $5-6 each.

Also in July we’ll do the Blackwater Gulch Savage Beasts campaign, rather than June. There were some delays in the printing dept. It will be a short 2-week campaign designed to fund the Werewolf and Chupacabra production molds & minis. We’ll also have the first Monster Hunter hired gun, J. W. Clarkson, and a new artillery piece called the Grappler (gatling gun carriage + ballista that shoots grappling hooks). I plan to give backers a choice between the monster hunter or grappler as the first freebie for the sweet spot pledge. Both will be sculpted next month Will be a short & sweet campaign designed to be fulfilled quickly, hopefully by the end of October.

And the Mechadrome Heavy Mech campaign will be planned for October/November, after the Savage Beasts have shipped. Another short & sweet campaign. We’ll probably start sculpting it in July if all goes well.

That’s it for now. Will be posting pics of new stuff as it comes in
