Thanks for the comments guys...have been hard at work painting this last week and hopefully will have something to post in a week or so.

Boba Fett - The head is taken from the Daemonette kit, with a Ork Nob top knot and an earring made from the end of a weapon from the Dark Elf Corsair kit.

As for painting Black, I will try explain as best I can - Once the model has given a black spray undercoat I drybrush the entire figure multiple times with a mixture of Abaddon Black and Ulthaun Grey progressively adding more grey to each successive dry brush until the final one is pure Uthaun Grey. Then I go back with a watered down Abaddon Black and neaten things up, generally only leaving the places where the light would catch the model with grey showing.

I then Glaze everything down with a mixture of what I would say is roughly 1/4 Nuln Oil, 1/4 Lahmian Medium, 1/4 'Ardcoat and 1/4 Water (maybe even slightly more water, as you can always do two coats if need be). This is what gives the black the dark and shiny appearance. Finally if need be I go back and pick out the final highlights with Uthuan Grey and a little Abaddon Black added.

Hope this makes some sort of sense, anymore question don't hesitate to ask.

Neil101 - Thanks for the comment, As with Bruiticus - I am big fan of your work!

I am stunned! These are perfect, the best Dark Eldar I've seen. Now when I think of Dark Eldar, ie in a book, this is how I will picture them.

Crush your enemies, see them driven before you and to hear the lamentations of the women.

One small detail I especially enjoy is the brown tinge in the blood on the weapons.

Maybe it's just the color palette off on my tablet display, but if intended, it's the first time I've seen dried blood being simulated, and for me it adds wonderfully to the presentation.

Cheers for the comments guys...

hurtmypony: Your eyes do not decieve you, when painting the dried blood I begin with a base coat of brown ink which I leave traces of showing at the edges of the dried blood.

To update on my current progress, I have begun work on a second raider and completed another (small) addition to the force which I will hopefully find time to photograph and post sometime this week.

A Small Update

Made this little guy awhile ago and finally got around round to painting him. Not sure what he could represent in game terms, but hey...was good fun.

This is very nicely done, the hat-gimp-familiar is brilliantly executed, very moody.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

Aw, it could be a baby Ur-ghul in training, having to wear a gas mask to protect it's sensitive nostrils until it gets older. Not quite sure how the hat fits in.

You should consider doing baby versions of all the archon's court.

If you played CSM, the hat guy could make a great familiar - I don't know if DE have something similar.

Picta Mortis, how did you paint the faces? I'm going to paint some pale skin tones on my marines and I like your final effect very much.

Also, your archon is superb. Horns scream Giger to me, and there's a great, characterful touch with the red marking on the skull.

Great work on the models.

I do have one question though why does Elyria Syn look like she cut some poor guys sack off and wears it where he used to?

lol sorry if that is supposed to be a bone unfortunately it matches your skin tone a bit too closely, and positioning + color + blood effect makes it look like a bloody sack

Great model. An Archaon's court is almost like an Inq28 project, lots of interesting characters. Any plans for a lhamaean?

Cheers guys...

@Bruticus - My thoughts exactly

I plan on making at least 1 representative for each of the Court (as you suggested earlier - the little guy is an Ur-Ghul), so after the Ssyth there will definatly be a Lhamean.

Very grim, very dark, very well executed. They sorta look more like vampires than most peoples take on dark eldar. I like it.
