Oh heck yes. Like a special flamethrower variant for dreadnought and other heavy platforms. I wonder if "Sandcaster" is under copyright... be kind of hilarious to watch GW "borrow" someone else's IP and try to claim it as their own.

Are people in this thread seriously failing to grasp that a) it is essentially a humourous thread and b) the longstanding and enduring connection between vampires and bats?

Yes, but there is no longstanding connection between bloodangels and bats, or even vampires as we know them, only the blood.

They just drink the blood, blood angels are not undead, they dont wander around glamouring people, or flying, or turning into bats, or bursting into flames in the sun, or ....

They could just as easily be the mosquito marines if drinking blood is all it takes to link them.

Oh c´on, make funny about the icy weapons of the space wolves but forget about the "blood" lance, or how about a dreadnought librarian flying across the sky with a pair of BLOOD wings, or how about the apothecaries carrying a chalice full of BLOOD, surely they leave a nice red trail....
I know this is a joke thread, but really people, a lot of jokes lack imagination and are pretty lame and redundant, you know exist more than bat vampires (the correct name, bat is the species, vampire is the clasification) there are a plethora of animals and mythologicals one that feed of blood, like leechs or the vapire finch or the chupacabras (i know, is a mythological creture)
How about the blood angels gettin a rabid chupacabra as MC or how about gettin a chariot full of mirrors (remember, they are the most handsome space marines) or how about a unit of space marines, with assaul weapons like leechs, they stuck on their victim till they is dry of blood lol.
Gosh poeple, internet ruin the imagination of the kids these days.
Pd: using a vampire theme, there should be a character named nosferatu(or with a variation of the name) maybe a librarian or captain, that could be very badass

I think being able to summon a swarm of stirges would be dope. Take a swarm of locusts, replace it with stirges, and throw that at Orks

Nah, nosferatu already exists. Usually can be found over in YMDC.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

To be fair, back when the Angels of Death Codex came out in 2nd Edition
Mephiston Looks like a Vampire
has fangs
"Red Thirst" hinted at blood drinking
There is a little paragraph somewhere mentioning that villages worth of people have gone missing after Blood Angel visits.
Blood Angels are extrodinarily long lived, even for Space Marines.
Blood Angels would hybernate in coffin like chambers between missions
Blood Angels drink the blood as part oftheir transformation
Blood, Blood, Blood

Blood Angels were obivously inspired/linked to vampires like Space Wolves are to werewolves

GW has since moved away from that

Remember that 40K started out as Space Warhammer Fantasy counterpart
Blood Angles = Space Vampires
Space Undead = Necrons
Eldar = Elves
Squats = Dwarfs
Chaos = Chaos
Imperial Guard = Empire
Space Marines = Human Knights
Tyranids = Watching Aliens, and kinda obvious for Space Game

Im just a little afraid of various nerfs that will come to he codex. We already know that sagas and grey hunters got the nerf bat.

Edit: and ive always seen a bigger connection to cannibalism than vampirism with the angels. Guess sometimes the red thirst manifests itself as wanting to drink blood, but other times you just... eat people.

I also love how we totally dont worship Khorne. Blood for the blood go-... uhh, i mean emperor.

Well, actually:
Phase 8: This implant allows a Space Marine to 'learn by eating'. It is situated in the spinal cord but is actually part of the brain. Four nerve bundles are implanted connecting the spine and the stomach wall. Able to 'read' or absorb genetic material consumed by the marine, the omophagea transmits the gained information to the Marine's brain as a set of memories or experiences. It is the presence of this organ which has led to the various flesh-eating and blood-drinking rituals for which the Astartes are famous, as well as giving names to chapters such as the Blood Drinkers and Flesh Tearers. Over time, mutations in this implant have given some chapters unnatural craving for blood or flesh.

All Space Marines are kind of vampires.
Blood Angels are just.. worse.. Especially with their blood lust and their tendency to go flying rodent gak crazy (See what I did there?).

Is it possible to nerf our 'unique' units any further?
Our standard units are going to get point-adjustments to reflect the Codex: SM and I think it's actually impossible to nerf Sanguinary Guard any further without being intoxicated.

Space Marine Chapters take after their Primarch.

Blood Angels have and Angel for a Primarch, but other than Angelic Good Looks, they are grim dark vegetarian vampires with PTSD.

They were my 1st 40K army, so they will always be special to me.

Still dont thing sanguinary guard are bad. Same cost as tactical termies, trades the 5++ for a jump pack (good trade), has a super cool bolter that shreds dire avengers and firewarriors like its nothing, has a master crafted power weapon instead of a fist (also a good trade), and are fearless. They may need to be 5 points cheaper, but with cover so easy to find with mobility, an invuln isnt really needed, and with easy access to fnp they have the same save (or better in cover) vs plasma and the like.

Frag cannon furiosos will probably see a nerf, as will baal predators and ap1 stormraven missiles.

And blood angels are my favorite army, so i cant possibly be a heretic XD

I just saw the rules for the Murderfang.
And wow.. Just wow.. I would take a bat if it came at that amount of points with that many attacks.
I would even field a sparkling vampire for that cost.

Dont know if this has been mentioned yet but what would a baalsac look like? Perhaps an immoble assault transport that can latch onto other vehicles (imperial knight comes to mind). And give it missiles.

Am I the only one that thinks this is the other way around that Space Wolves have finally caught up with the 5th Ed BA book for silly naming.

I mean the ammount of blood themed stuff in that book was already kinda over the top.

Blood fist (just a DCCW)
Blood Talon
Blood Strike Missiles
Sanguinary Guard
Sanguinar
Sanguinary Priests
Blood Chalices
Sanguinary noviate...

BA kinda started the stupid naming convention thing.

I don't understand the purpose of this thread.

As far as I can remember, previous to the "invention" of the Thunderwolf cavalry, all Space Wolves had were Fenrisian wolves as "pets" for HQ characters, and then later as units of their own.

Even the appearance of the Thirteenth Company during the Eye of Terror codex- who were explained as some of the original members of the Space Wolves to follow Russ into the Eye of Terror, only got Fenrisian wolves (and of course Wolfen units).

Blood Angels will simply bring in their most famous of successor Chapters as reinforcements- the Angry Marines.

Yeah, let's worry about this sort of stuff when there's something to actually worry about.
