If you're going to a tournament, make sure you bring it up before you bring your army that day. You don't wana get hit with a rule issue or waste points if the judge leans one way or the other.

It may be a good idea to give em Lances + Flaming banner just in case. The good thing about Skullcrushers, is the Mounts stay S5, so you're not missing out THAT much with Ensorc Weaps and also get a bonus on the charge.

You're right I will run them with Lances to be safe, that way on the charge I have 18 WS5 S6 attacks, which is tasty

That is pretty sick. I never want to see that kind of damage output charging across the board at my High Elves.

That's what's great about WoC... nearly everything is a high level threat so long as they make it to battle.

One of my fav things to do with Skullcrushers is either lower the enemy unit's weapon skill with Misasma (Lore of Shadow or Lore of Nurgle) or better yet, Enchanted Blades (Lore of Metal) to ensure the Skullcrushers hit their mark. Enchanted Blades is such a great spell and even adds Armor Piercing which with S6 is a -4 to armor! That is painful.

Lore of Slaanesh for +1 attack is also fun.

Lore of Metal really is fantastic when you get the right spells, though.

@lliu Thanks so much!

@Evertras I SOO want to run a Slaanesh mage in my list but I'm points hungry and I cant afford a lvl 2 on a steed, however I also cant bring myself to loose the -1 to hit and 1/6 chance to regain wounds/toughness on lore of nurgle! In a troll heavy list its the wrong lore, because I need 3+ Regeneration, -WS, +/- toughness, poison... BUT when I run actual warriors I will run Slaanesh, I have a 2500 list I'll be posting soon as well

@scorpio7777 The problem is if they get caught off the charge they're not as great, but when you get them right they are a freight train!

I don't mean to be insulting, but everyone and their dog knows that the army is good. It's what people mostly run. It's hard as nails, takes big points and gives up little.

To put it in other terms, it's what Diesel would run.

@thedarkavenger I'm not insulted don't worry! I know the individual components are quite competitive, ie the cookie cutter BSB, cookie cutter DP, Skullscrushers are generally competitive so 2 is more so, but I hadn't seen many/any lists with a horde of trolls as I thought people ran them in little 6-8 man units for mobility, plus I wanted to know the synergy of the list, if I should trade something competitive for something else competitive. Finally I just wanted to post it up for any blindingly obvious errors like double arcane items or illegal unit sizes because sometimes they slip through. I'm sorry if you think I'm wasting time posting it on here, but I don't think I am

If it were perfect you wouldn't have had to edit your list or have so many suggestions to change things.

That change from Knights to another unit of Skullcrushers did leaps and bounds for your list.

I never said you were wasting your time. I just said that it's a very good list. It's been proven time and again. And any individual changes, like the lances on the skullcrushers won't ruin it. As a matter of fact, the lances on one unit is a good shout. It gives you a monster hunter, aside from the chimera, what with all these frosthearts and treemen floating about.

As for the horde of trolls, it's fairly common. Although I believe people are starting to shift away from it due to the rise of fast cav based lists and the fact that death is making a resurgence. But they're still really good, as they fit this type of list like a glove.

@thedarkavenger yeah I needed to have monster hunter without tieing my DP up with it, would you recommend using my BSB as a bit of a monster hunter? He's S7 which would strip armour, should I give him burning body as I have some points spare? Or poison on him?

I didn't know troll hordes were common, I am scared of death magic and fast cavalry shenanigans but I have some fast assault units and solos which should be able to find the wizard and pants them, aswell as neutralising fast cavalry, without getting themselves in compromising positions

I feel like this is a babysitter list though, everything that's not below leadership 5 is frenzy or stupid!

Just give the BSB a flail and a 1+/3++. That way, when he goes into the stuff he should, he's S7, and he won't waste that high Initiative.

Troll hordes came to light after people realised the value of a T4 core block with a 4+ regen and 3 wounds apiece.

@thedarkavenger I am really cautious about giving him the flail, because of his low attacks he might be in a slog fest through Bum rolls. Plus his ridiculous save means he can afford to go last in combat, should I give him flaming or is it a waste?

The flail is good, as the targets he should fight shouldn't have the static rez to give him trouble. Or he goes into units with the static rez alongside a unit that can break said static rez. That way, you should only need 1-2 hits to win. As for the flaming, it depends on how much the dragonhelm is used in your meta.

Played 2400 against my buddy who plays vampires, I only lost some dogs and 1 unit of skullcrushers, in return I took 2 ghiests, all his chaff, 40 ghouls and 70+ zombies, I left his block of grave guard with hero's\lords untouched. For a win.

However as much as it pains me, my troll horde was too scary for him to face head on so he feed it chaff the whole game, would it be better to break the horde into 2 units? ... I'm hoping you say no

I'd say no. But against an army like VC, the horde will struggle, as he can summon bumps to block it off.

Dont break the horde up. The real strength in the horde is after you vomit, you have 54 str 5 swings. Its so hard to kill so that horde will rarely give up victory points.

Even without Throgg (if Special Characters aren't allowed) Troll hordes are a really great idea. Run them next to your BSB or DP and win!

So cheap for what they actually bring to the table.

They don't count as breath weapons, so yeah.

In a round of combat, you have the option to use their regular attacks, or one vomit per troll replacing their other attacks. This goes for any troll that can make supporting attacks as well.

A thing of note: they do still get their stomps when blowing magical chunks.

Exactly! Being WS3 is garbage, so if with the nurgle spell I can get the enemies weapon skill down, I will then fight hand to hand and stomp! However if I don't get it or its heavily armoured, 17 + 2D6 strength 5 vomits normally peel through everything, and 1+ save means nothing I'd you don't get it and I don't need to hit you!

Troll horde stays, throgg is a champion, GOD I love chaos
