@Kencotter thnx for the kind words much aprecciated!

A little update on the dragon.
Been working on the reins and glued on some parts on the dragon like the back of the seat and the lower part of the rider.
Also i have a nice picture frame were the diorama will be build on.
Since i have a new picture frame i have a nice flat surface to work on, so now i can work on the angle of the dragon on his little base.
I will show pics of that later on!
For now time for some pics off todays progress!

Hope you guys like it sofar!
Have a nice day
Regards
Mark

Here you can see the color on the horns and first steps on making the reins

[Thumb - DSC_0185.JPG]
And here the horns are fitted to the dragonshead also you can see more of the reins hanging from them

As promissed some pictures of the new picture frame.
I left the glass plate underneat for some extra strenght and to keep the wooden backplate from warping.
I coated the glass plate with some layers of ducttape for protection/flying glas in case of shattering.
I wil leave the wooden frame in this color cus i like it ^^
And also got a idea for a dio name...its gona be called Light vs Dark very qliche probably have to come up with something better then that ^^ open for suggestions
For the light vs dark idea...the plan is to do the scenic parts were the h.elf dragon is standing in lush/happy colors (sounds weird but time will tell what plans i have in my head ) and for the d.elf dragon its gonna be a more dark/sober color palette.
With the dragon on his new dio base wich doesnt have a warped wooden backingplate its gonna be easier to get going on his final pose on the small rocky base.
When that is done its time to get out the woodfiller to start working on a part of the ground (really looking forward on starting on the scenic aspect)
Lets check out how it looks.....picture time

Regards
Mark

Looking great.

If your painting pieces still on the sprue, how are you handling modeling flash? Do you also clean off the flash on the sprue?

Hello SJM,
Firstly thnx for your kind words
And secondly i clean flash/moldlines on sprue(i do forget to do it sometimes tough and not only on sprue ^^) also when painting on sprue i look were a join between the part and the sprue is what you wont see after clipping it off
Nice example was the torso of the rider...the part were the bottom of the torso joined the sprue wont show damage after clipping it off the sprue after painting it.
So sometimes i leave parts on the sprue i look for parts that arent easily damaged after clipping them of the sprue.
So i look for spots that are easily touched up with paint or parts that will get glued on other parts like the fins that will be glued onto the head.
When above steps are done i cut/clip excess sprue parts off clean up the part..moldlines flash etcetera.
Hope the explanation is understandable iam not a big hero in writing in english previous pictures show better what iam meaning to say
And offcourse sometimes i pin parts..lets just say iam weird in my way of modeling ^^

@KillaCam tvm for the kind words

Have a nice evening and thnx for viewing!

Hey all,

A little before i have to work update!
Started on the first stage of the base.
Masked of the pictureframe to protect it.
Materials used for now are:treebark, cork, woodfiller and one of the scenic parts that come with the h.elf kit.
The plan is to create a colorfull scene were the h.elf dragon stands, and a darker scene on the side of the d.elf dragon.
When the wood filler has dried i will add some sand over it to get a nice and better looking underground.
Hope you guys like it sofar
Have a nice day!

Are you converting the Black Dragon or leaving it as is? Because at the moment, it seems a little odd to have it facing away from the HE Dragon in that pose.

This is just stunning!

The dragon is beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do with the next one.

I love all the details you have going on here, especially in the big scenic base.

Your ogre model is also spectacular. Your painting style is so clean and crisp.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of both projects.

Forgive me now! Tomorrow I may no longer feel guilty...
