Fluffy Ones. Build your army around an interesting theme and it becomes fun!

Examples of mine -

- My IG army is a Veteran Fortress Defence Force and are always deployed to the nastiest warzones and ordered to defend fortresses from foul Xenos. The more casualties I take, the more fun I have
(I even have a custom morale marker, a "Corpse Recovery Vehicle" that picks up bodies, hides them behind a screen and then blends them and stores them in containers for later use.)

- My Necron army is all about showing off advanced technology and teleporting around. The Overlord and his underlings care more about looking spectacular than actually accomplishing anything.
(The Leadership stands atop scarabs because walking is for plebeians)

- My Inquisitorial army is made up of all Crusaders and Priests, under the leadership of a crazy inquisitor who believes all heretics must be purged by swords if the Emperor is to rise again.

CC Tau, now that gaming style can be absolutely hilarious.

Also, though I have never played Orks, they do seem to be a pretty fun army

Eldar are the most fun army to play through the history of w40k. They have never been bad and had a 2-3 year time through a 7 edition of w40k when they were bit weaker. At all other times they were the top army to play.

Here's a question for you all, as I may have mentioned I find the new Grey Knights codex a bit dull and am looking to try another marine codex.

"What do you think is the most interesting and entertaining Space Marine army to use be it Chaos or Loyalist?"

Hmmm... I'm between crimson slaughter and regular ol' space marines. Crimson slaughter seems fun to me because of the sheer number of posessed you get to field with 'em. They're a bit random, but can actually get some stuff done. Oh and I love the forgefiends and maulerfiends with CSM too! Spawn are apparently also quite good these days...

On the other hand, SM are great because they're imperial. If I were to start an SM army, I'd make a nice core of them and add whatever I fancied to it. Assassins, maybe an inquisitor.

Between these two, I'm partial to the crimson slaughter because of all the beasts and beast-like things I'd get to put on the table. Then again, I'm hopelessly enamored with CC so go figure!

Krush, stomp, kill!

CSM has a bunch of entertaining lists, and you have a ton of flexibility in the CSM codex thanks to marks, icons, and the like. And they have the best terminators (largely due to the same) and obliterators, which are both interesting to play with, in addition to some really neat HQ options (including some interesting special characters like Huron). You can do plague marines or the abbadon special in land raiders, or you can do a red tide of khorne berzerkers with some terminators, or you can do a dark mechanicum list with maulerfiends and hellbrute cults. And that scratches the surface.

SM is, by comparison, more bland, as a tac squad is a tac squad is a tac squad. The one thing that they do have going for them is more "as troops" stuff, like bikes as troops, for example. That means that in some ways, SM can field more different armies with more similar units. There's no CSM equivalent to the drop pod assault, for example.

I guess it's sort of a matter of if you want to do a few things in very different ways, or many different things in more or less the same way.

The best part is that neither (though especially not CSM) can gunline very well, so you're forced to get in there and mix it up a bit, which is always more interesting.

orks, always funny, and I don't even play them

Space wolves are pretty fun to play with. Boasting, burping, and rude while still being skilled and hounourable is a realy fun combination to try to emulate. Orks and daemons with their random happenings are also entertaining, nothing like getting a vortex jumping around, turning the enemy warlord into a herald or suddenly getting stabbed in the back by a rival god to get some laughter around the gaming table.

My armies:
vior'la sept 12k
Erik Morkai's great company 6k
dark mechanicus, the dearth of hope, 8k
rothwyr morwan's company 1,5k
Adeptus custodes 2k
AoS, The forgotten order, SE, 3k

Tzeentch Daemons (that only include a minimum of Malefic) & of course, Orks because... They're Orks!!

My Tzeentch Daemons are built around large Horror squads, including a close combat geared unit led by a Tzherald w/Locus of Str = D6/turn + Spawn-making sword, large unit of Flamers, and some 'counts as' add-ons for representing Firewyrms & Changebringers. (Beasts & Plaguedrone rules respectively)

Games are much more fun when it's not simply about just summoning more than any opponent can conceivably kill and instead throwing a bit of everything + kitchen sink at them... oh, and it's fun keeping track of the notable kills the Super Horrors and their glorious leader manage! (best yet has been flipping Pask's sacred Punisher tank in an assault!)

Orks really make a game fun, but I prefer Guard and Tau as they are all about the dakka dakka and not smashey smash.

Playing against orks or as orks have made some of the best memories.

I prefer the guard style of play, lots of organization and guns. Occasionally I wish their angry flashlights were a little more bright, but it doesn't phase me, after all it's well worth the satisfaction you get when they finally kill something..

Guard. All veterans with demolitions falling from valkyries with death strikes in the back. Throw in a callidus assassin for good measure.

Or an assassin formation, for the lulz.

I have to echo that the most fun armies are fluffy armies so I think the best way to play marines is pick your favorite legion and then build an army around their tactics, painting and converting up all your models to match.

For playing as, I love a good fluffy army. That's the way I run my iron hands, and try to emulate their way of war on the tabletop.

I love facing chaos space marines(preferably emperor's children, old grudges die hard), and a good ol proper horde army, especially tons of orks, it's too fun to fight orks
