I think the IR rules will be part of the announced optional night fighting rules. I expect this to be a 'what if...' thing since it's optional.

No. I mean having two (or more) columns in the Platoon entry. For example, look at the Recce Patrol on page 104 of Market Garden. The Recce Patrol for the Guards Armoured Division only has the option of 3-4 Stuart VI tanks while the 11th Armoured Division only has the option to take 3-4 Stuart VI jalopies.

No, I get what you're saying. But when they do that, they typically use a symbol of some sort that's specific to each company. Since I don't own Market Garden, I'll use the Assault Company in Turning Tide instead. On p.172, you have the Company Diagram. And in the text box up at the top, it tells you that the Big Red 1 symbol corresponds to 1st Infantry Division choices, and the (not) yin-yang symbol corresponds to 29th Infantry Division choices. Specifically, it states that your Company HQ must belong to the appropriate division, and all other platoons with variants must come from the same division.

That's missing from the two Panzerkampfgruppe company diagrams.

But that symbol is in the platoon entry and not on the Company diagram. They only use a symbol on the Company diagram if they use the same slot on the diagram for different platoons.

He's referring to the explanatory text that appears on the page, and would logically appear on the previewed lists as well. For your example of Market Garden on page 102 the company diagram is laid out. The text at the top of the page explains different divisional symbols for the Guards vs. 11th Armored.

That would only appear on a Company diagram that is shared by multiple companies. Here each company has it's own diagram so any symbol would appear on the next page with the Company HQ.

We should know either way soon enough. WWPD indicated that they'd have a review up of the German side of the book tomorrow.

The review has it's own thread.

The German review has now been posted, and both lists are explicitly mentioned as having access to the IR equipment. Companies with IR can attack at night, and get the Spearhead rule. And units with the equipment roll two dice to spot at night. The half tracks can highlight a unit within 24 inches, allowing IR equipped units to spot the target.
