They have released metal recently right? I thought that the issue was down to their metal guy dying, but since then they'd sorted out someone else. ...Its been ages however since then, so its a real shame to go onto their site wanting to buy stuff, only to find that most of their new bits (and not so new bits) are still under the Resin Masters section. If I'm going to be flippant with my money £10-15 a model isn't quite in the price frame that I'm looking for. =P
My mates and I have had the itch for a tabletop version of Mad Max for a while, so last year we got to it using the rules of Necromunda - The Ash Wastes, gathered from Yaktribe.
The Ash Wastes was a mostly experimental ruleset so it's still a bit rough on the edges. It is however highly customizable, and one of the few vehicular combat systems that supports the "chassis + engine + gun" kind of post-apoc we were aiming for. We'd heard wonders of Car Wars, but we don't find those Testarossas with James Bond-esque gadgets too true to the Mad Max spirit.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

Without getting into personal info, I believe it's been to do with the folks in Wales were having problems, and a really rough start to the year.
They handle that end of it all. Kev and Sally are (deservedly) winding down what they take on. I'd not expect the less than ideal schedule to continue indefinitely.
I knbow this thread is a few weeks old now, but I was talking to Wayne from Wargames Illustrated the other day and Mad Max came up, and he pointed out to me how awesome the Woodland Indians set from Wargames Factory would be for making Warboys. Thought I should share the idea:

re: holding the assault rifle weirdly: "Kev was quick to mock me for putting her together waving her gun around instead of having the stock in the crook of her arm so I'll have to amend the photo tomorrow, for now though, pretend she just likes waving it about"
Car Wars still looks like the true first attempt at trying to capture the insane creations of Mad Max.
If it does not have motorcycles, muscle cars, monster trucks and transport truck "battleships" then it is not Mad Max...

Anyway, good stuff!

They cost like three times as much as the metal... Which doesn't really suit the impulse buyer's attitude of seeing a pop-culture character they know and buying them on a whim.

Most end up in metal eventually though, right?
I agree that it's a bit annoying to have to wait, but if it's helping hasslefree stay in business to do most of their releases first as resin exclusives, I'm willing to wait. Indie miniature companies need all the help they can get.
However, compared to the one done by Hasslefree, paired with a horrible generic pose, one word from the movie comes to mind: Mediocre.
That pose is awful. Really corny, like an over the top miniature from 40K. I really cannot imagine Furiosa striking a pose like that in the film, its too flashy.
The Max miniature on the other hand is beautiful. It looks... realistic. Like a still from the movie, that moment when he's killed the bullet farmer and comes striding out of the mist.
I don't play Mad Max or Fallout games (yet) but I'm definitely going to get that Max.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Those HFM Mad Max and Furiosa models, have they given an ETA for the metal version?

Aye that model sucks. Other than the pose she looks rather plain compared to the Hasslefree one. Even the chunky Crooked Dice version looks better. She just doesn't have any character. Not to slight the sculptor, but Kev's just looks better. =P
Oh and Hasslefree said they'd prioritise the Mad Max models when it comes to selling metal versions of them. Whether that means we need to wait merely weeks rather than months is up in the air. IIRC the ETA they gave on how long it takes to turn a model into metal was like three months. How can I be flippant with my money when you show me something cool, but then I have to wait months to actually buy it Hasslefree!
I remember Gorkamorka had a fun scenario meant to simulate a battle fough by vehicles moving at high speeds, such as a race. Basically, all the terrain moves 6" toward one of the narrow board edges each turn, along with any models that choose not to move. If you move, your first 6" are used just to stay in place and not lose ground toward the narrow edge. You roll a die to see if new terrain pieces are added, coming on from the far narrow edge. I remember having some really fun games full of side-swipes and maneuvers to get around terrain while trying to shoot apart your opponent's vehicles.
This has been the best idea I have seen for playing a game over long distances at high speed rather than just driving back and forth on a static table.
