Really like it but the 40K-esque regalia puts me off.

Gorgeous model! I really love the Battletech influence, it is like a Battlemaster `Mech was sucked into the Warp and came out the other side bigger and meaner.

That was my thought exactly.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I love the thing. The problem is there is only one pose available, making it impossible to field more than one.

Can we get a similar scale shot with the smaller version? The big one looks to be almost Dreadknight sized or whatever the taller FW Dreadnought is maybe. I'm thinking the shorter version will be closer to the standard boxy Dread or maybe a Centurion.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I want to like it but I cant.

1. The purity seals, as mentioned.

2. Calling them 'battle mechs' is aun unfaior challenge. Mech has been genericised enough now, even without the -a but battlemech is proprietary. It also doesnt properly look like a battlemech.

3. Too much hard shadow or what looks like hard shadow.

4. Many pieces have flat detail, for example the lowr legs have 'girder' effect from the sides by are flat and featureless from the front.

5. Too many confused oddities on the weapons. The chainguns have long ammo feeds, which look great by the way but also nodules reminiscent of plasma weaponry (as this has a strojng 40K reference).

6. Many of the muzzles do not inspire. The chainguns are fine, but what with the shoulder mounts, are those optics lenses or are they missile pods. If they are missile units they need to look more missiley, if they are optics the whole arrangement should look like it has a wider vision angle, even turreted. As fro the drum magazine guns wuth six 'emitters' these also seem a confused hybrid of ammo and energy weaponry. What is up with those weapon ends, give it a ballsy gatling cannon or large mortar grenade muzzle.

7. Most of all the leg arrangements. Like the Imperial knight you have one standardised pose, whicvh is ok for a asingle model but looks crap when you have a unit. At least with the Imperial knight it stoodf on two feet, for this model each and every one must have the left leg resting on an object and the right leg on flat ground. It compounds the problem. As you are making more arms make some more legs too.

Nixce try but it fails on composition. If you take this back to the digital masters and removwe the purity seals, perhaps putting them on a seperate sprue, and give multiple options for legs and loincloths to ensure variety, and made some minor artistic adjustments to the weaponry I think you will be on to a winner.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

The molded on purity seals are the only real thing holding me back at this point.

I'm glad to hear there will be another pose.. it's definitely needed.

I like most of the other artistic choices you have going on though.

I have a suspicion that if that chainsaw arm was available by itself you might win over some purchases from Ork players or maybe Chaos.

As an aside.. I really like that goblin cook on your webpage.. is that backpack separate though? It would not make sense in the adventure I plan on using him in.. I could easily slap that on someone else but he needs to be just his lovely self.

People buy plenty of those kastellan robots which are quite possibly one of GW's worst models.. and they basically only have one pose.

Nice size, cool design, great sculpts, reasonable price?

I'll probably pick one up in the near future, bookmarking this for reference.

Very cool stuff.

EDIT: just saw some of your other stuff and the 35mm "real" models, if you ever make some 28mm dudes with helmets, gas masks, and AK-74's, I'd buy a grip of those

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.

Any chance of giving this a not Grey Knights Dreadknight type load out? It's a much, much, much nicer model otherwise imo, great effort!

I have to agree on the purity seals- anyone using this for 40k already has tons of purity seals sitting around, and anyone using it for something else probably doesn't want them on there.
Other than that and the lack of leg options, pretty cool sculpt.

It is very pretty, but I have no idea what I'd use it for.

That being said, I might buy one anyway.

Fething hilarious to see people complain about a few purity seals... Since when does a designer need to do everything for you? There's a reason hobby knives exist lol.

OP- LOVELY model and design. I can already see this as a stand in for several minis. Will pick up some 60mm for castellans and possibly a 95mm for a forge fiend.

Eh, it makes sense to me to put the purity seals on the separate sprue. If nothing else you don't want 2 robots in the same pose with the same seals in the same places. Plus it is a bit strange to make them THAT keyed to GW style Imperial armies and require cutting them off. Not a big deal, but if I have to pick between slicing off with a knife and gluing on, I'll always pick gluing on.

Melee version of robot ready to deploy!

This project has been designed not so long ago, keeped in stringent secret, and used only during dangerous operations, as a rule for killing extraterrestrial forms of life. This model is a universal killing machine

My only complaint was the leg posing on a rock. It looks like you addressed that, so good work.

Curious to see how many people nit-picking about stupid things such as "purity seals" or "standing on a rock" are actually going to buy this model now that he's kowtowed to your ridiculous demands

My guess? Less than 10%. Prove me wrong or you're just being a crab in the bucket

There is absolutely nothing wrong with making genuine criticisms to a model even if you don't have any desire to buy the thing. Sure the purity seal thing is a bit nitpicky but without the rock, the model still looks awesome and let's you buy more than one without them looking identical!

Awesome cc hands by the way.

How can you make a genuine criticism if you never intended to buy that thing and you're not the target market? I might as well go criticize the stitching and fog light placement on the new BMW X5, I don't find them aesthetically pleasing. But if I'm not the target market, why should they ever take me seriously? It's completely meaningless. The robot's clearly intended for 40k, it's like complaining that I'm going to have to shave the insignia off some Infinity or Warmahordes figure for use in another game.

It very well may be genuine, but it's completely meaningless and worthless

The rock thing, sure, but that's always why you can convert if you really do intend on purchasing multiple and these guys are so big I doubt I'd want an army of them, I'd get 4 max for my Heresy mechanicus army.
