I'm in the game store hobbying, and this girl who could have been Kate Upton's twin came in, wearing a short skirt, boots, fishnets and a tank top. She eventually comes over to me and asks if I want to play a game of 40K. We play, we hit it off, we end up going for drinks, then dinner.

I had planned on getting in at least 2 more games that day. But I didn't want to be rude and tell her no, she was so nice.

.Only a fool believes there is such a thing as price gouging. Things have value determined by the creator or merchant. If you don't agree with that value, you are free not to purchase.

You're just bitter Tau are amazing at killing MEQs / SPAACZZZE Marines, Tau lose hard to horde armies. Guess what SPAAZCCE Marines are the most boring unimaginative army in the entire hobby.

When I started playing 9/10 people only play either evil Space Marines or Space Marines. When someone started a new army (he had Space Marines) they had the brilliant idea that he'll start Space Wolves, Black Templars, or Blood Angels instead! PROFIT! Every game was SM vs SM. Space Marines are the easiest army to paint, easiest army to play/most forgiving, the cheapest army to collect, and appeals to the 8-14 year old kid's mind of ZOMG humanity's super heroes!!! I'm playing them! Space Marines are 1.) For kids (Ever seen a 12 year old kid in a GW store play ANYTHING OTHER THEN SPOAAZZE MARINES?) 2.) Everyone and their father plays them. You should be ashamed.

Which is why I love it when Xenos wipes the floor with them (Tau, Eldar, Necrons).

If you really find nothing worthwhile about any Space Marine chapter or lore, I'm not sure you are a person worth speaking to. What exactly is unimaginative about them?

Few things,
1) Just because the younger crowd is drawn to them doesn't make them "for kids" - younger kids also like Star Wars, Batman, etc.
2) Necrons are easiest to paint, but so what? When did we get so snooty? Why does it have to be hard to get good looking models?
3) GW would be NOTHING without their Space Marine IP. I believe something like 70% of their sales are SM. So the only reason you can even play 40k is from the support of the SM lovers.

Most importantly

4 ) YOU should be ashamed for being such a butthead. This hobby is supposed to be welcoming and inclusive. You sound like a whiney hipster. Who made you the judge of cool? Just enjoy what you enjoy and let other people pick what they like.

Happens a few times, basically the #1 annoyance for me, gamers who when you point out a rule they are not only breaking, but are blatantly breaking after its been pointed out to them a few minutes earlier when they tried it the previous turn utter the immortal words "Well if thats how you want to play it".

There is a circle in hell reserved for them, cleaning mould lines from a miscast garden of morr set

Perhaps the most annoying thing I have had happen to me when I was gaming was the time some old dude knocked my Battlefoam bag down (I probably shouldn't have put it where it was, but still...). My miniatures went everywhere, and a couple of them got broken (at the joints, tank da Emprah). The stupid old fart didn't even seem to notice and kept right on walking out of the store. I had a good mind to go clean his clock (at least yell at him real good, the dumb ), but ultimately my Christian nature (and my very strong desire not to ride in the back seat of a cop car) held me back. I was SO pissed, especially that the donkey-cave didn't even turn and apologize.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 7 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels
