You can literally get a power maul and a fist for the same price and get the added benefit of being able to switch to at I attacks.

Take a fist and claw for the extra attack.

I like to take a squad of 5 with a lightning claw and a power fist each, to which I attack a captain with a lightning claw, power fist, and gorgon's chain, then I stick them in a stormraven and they jetpack down into my opponent's backfield. It's a bit pricey but I was going to bring that stormraven anyways.

Actually, VV might be the only time it's worth bringing dual PW.
Power axe & power maul gives you a very flexible loadout and costs the same as dual claws.

A Fist and Claw is probably the best loadout, since you get the extra attack on either weapon. It costs only ten points more than dual claws, which is nice. It has a lot of utility. Facing MEQs, use the Claw. Facing TEQs or an MC, use the Fist. I would still put a couple of Storm Shields ahead of them to soak up an attack if you plan on using the Fist though.

Ten points more on a one wound model is a bit too rich for my taste.
I'd leave the fisticlaw to multi wound models personally.

It's worth decimating this unit almost just to get that guy or guys.

Just stick to the 5 point power weapons and keep it cheap.

Does no one simply try to make their models look cool any more? My vanguards have power swords and shields. And another squad full of claws.
They may be sub optimal in math hammer, but they look bitchin.

No, because they wouldn't be on the table long enough to appreciate without optimization.

How the have a 3++ save, so Grav wont wreck them, and since they get to re-roll charge distance anyway you can use the jump packs to get into combat quickly. Seriously SS are sweet, personally i would go Hammer Shield but thats me.

Some do, some are either more concerned with performance or they don't have a particular looks preference.

I am working on Spartan Helms, Power Spears and Round Shields.
My second one will probably be Roman Helms, Power Swords and Square Shields
To go with my Sternguard and the 'Archangel Sanguine Wing'.

I'm not sold on the whole blinged out VV squad. I'm a big fan of boys before toys. My preferred load out is a naked squad with jump packs and meltabombs. even if the power weapons are only 5 points, so are the meltabombs and to me it makes them more versatile and keeps them from being such a temping target that they even need the 3++ that a stormshield provides. if I really feel they need an invul save I'll attach a jump pack chaplain.

I think a 50:50 mix of VV with just a melta bomb and shield & fists is a good balance. Lots of S8 for smashing big things and a number of cheap bullet catchers for early losses.
Roll with a Chaplain and you should be punching most MCs down in 1-2 assault phases.

CrashGordon94 wrote:Yeah, does seem pretty solid for the most part, will probably work out just fine.
Only thing I could see is that you could swap the Power Axes for Power Fists, you'd go from S5 to S8 with no loss of attacks!
Buuuuut that would cost 20 points on its own, so that might not be worth it.
Would you give the PF Veterans a shield since they already lose the extra attack?

I think so. Either that or the Lightning Claw, one of those two (or the Relic Blade for Sarge). The Fist DOES sound good, just the price. If the price is an issue, I'd probably go with the Claw.
