I have a complete imperial fists 3rd company. Marines and 10 drop pods, 10 rhinos, and each squad marked and tagged to codex standards. Overall it's about 76% painted. I do not have the emperors patience or money to have a complete chapter of yellowhat for now. Picture is older but works.

I used to own between 150 and 200 marines, of which some 120 were metal. Fully painted as Black Templars. They're sold off now, but I'm in the process of rebuilding the army as Iron Hands.
I also recall an army showcase in an oldish WD (2005-08?) with a full Blood Angels chapter, Rhinos, LRs and all. It was by Artur Szyndler, at the time GW rep for Eastern Europe. There was also another one for a studio-owned Ultramarines full-chapter army. Wicked stuff.

In the late 90s WD showed off a complete UM chapter including several metal thunderhawks.
But I can't recall ever hearing of a 'civilian' doing it. Maybe a whole club working together.
these days even GW just photoshops larger armies like Creed's force in the last (x2) IG codex.

The full UM chapter pic is in one of the old codexes, 3rd IIRC. Same codex had a detailed breakdown of them as well.
The pic obviously dated back to 2nd.

GW did the full UM chapter by having each store in the UK paint a squad, and have the mail-order trolls do all the vehicles.
The metal Thunderhawk model was actually designed for that army (it was on display on Games Day).

Seconded. The organization of death watch is up to the Master of the watch. A chaptermaster in all but name. Mine is Loghain Lord of Ultima Acer Lux. And I have closer to 150 mans. Mans painted support vehicles are all in various stages of paint. So tired of rhinos and drop pods.

There is this guy on a Dutch 'ebay-like' site which sells his models. According to his adds he has entire chapters.
In the add he says he's selling:
1000 black templars
1000 ultramarines
1000 bloodangels
1000 imperialfist
1000 darkangels
1000 spacewolves
200 grey knights
200 bloodravens
200 salamanders
200 legion of the damned
200 crimson fist
The pictures are impressive because of the model-count. Altough the painting quality is...... A while back he had this picture of a dozen Thunderhawks, just maddness.
Or what about these landraiders stacked in a box (16 of them?) from his Blood angels add.
In the add he says he is selling 20 GW carry-cases with 16 tanks a piece (so that must be 320 in total ). as well as 4 boxes with 10 landraiders each.

Just did a quick tally, I’m at ~250 Ultramarines painted. So a quarter(ish) of a chapter. About 60 more in the to-bult/paint pile of shame. Once they all get done, I’ll have 2 battle companies, half the 1st and about a third of the 10th. Plus HQs, including all 10 captains, assorted vehicles, and other odds & ends.

I have an entire tank regiment of Imperial Guard (I know it isn't a marine chapter) and you can see more pics behind the link in my sig, wihch focuses even on individual notable tanks and squadrons of vehicles.
I also have a burgeoning, thought not yet complete, superheavy tank regiment, but I really only have one picture because I usually don't use magnum opus threads until I have finished a project.

Tanks? 30 in 3 companies of 10, one Comissar tank, one Lord Commissar malcador, 3 superheavies in one company, 3 superheavies in the command group, 3 Chimera support vehicles, one Atlas, one Salamander, three Hydras, and one Basilisk.
So 47 total.

I've managed to collect a full codex compliant 2nd company ultramarines plus about a full sized 1st company, mostly sternguard, vanguard and honor guard and half of a 10th comapny scouts. The only thing I am missing is a full compliment of drop pods, I have a few but half the time laziness lends me to dixie cups, plus 10 TL las razorbacks is far more fun on the table.
as a bonus ive somehow managed to accumulate about 400ish imperial guardsman of varying stripes over the years, so I was one of the people unfazed by the new emperors shield formation (only 160, is that it?)

I would like to have the entire Blood Angels and Grey Knights chapters complete. However, considering the painting standard that I want even the most basic bolter marine to be painted to, nevermind the elites, named models, and what I like to call "minor heroes" (characters that are in my army, but not in the fluff), I don't imagine I'll ever be able to accomplish that. I'd have to live as long as Commander Dante

I'm working on it.
So far I have painted the entire second company infantry for my home brew company.
I've also got about 30 first company, and a few squads from other companies.
not gotten into the vehicles yet, SMs are cheap as chips secondhand and a pleasure to paint but vehicles not so much.
It's taken me a little over a year to get this far, so I can't imagine I'll remember to come back to this thread if I ever finish the Chapter.
Also, because I'm a massive nerd I have made a spreadsheet for the Steel Guard that gives each marine a name.

I've got about 200 bolter marines, and maybe 50 additional units in the form of captains/chaplains/named dudes.
I have a lot of tanks, drop pods, and fast attack as well, but nothing that would come close to properly outfitting a chapter.
I don't ever get rid of units from armies I actually collect, so I imagine eventually I'll end up with a chapter even if it looks like an 'armor through the ages' showcase with the sculpt progression of everything.

I’m with you on that. I’ve got RT beakies, 2nd ed bolter huggers, the 3rd ed multipose, 4th ed Battle of Macragge push-fits, and then modern tac squads. Plus some of the new BaC Mk IVs on the painting block. Missed out on the AoBR pushfits, and the 6/7th sets were DA specific, so I passed on them.
Quite the cornucopia of marines.
