It's out? I'm still seeing it on preorder on Miniature Market, so where are ya'll picking it up from?

Miniature Market got stocked, shipped out most/all of their pre-orders, and almost instantly ran out. The big issue is GF9 didn't anticipate the game taking off the way it did. They're currently getting a reprint to market that's twice the size of the first printing.

As for where to find it, folks are selling them on eBay a few at a time, most of which aren't too far over MSRP after shipping.

The shop I got mine from is called The Panzer Depot. Just makes sense.

Sounds like it is selling fairly well.

So I read the rules last night - simple, but sounds fun. The variety of cards and options should make the game interesting. I don't understand the need for the Final Fury rule - it seems like it would give an advantage to low-initiative / high-model count lists, but I'm sure they playtested that out.

Question - I have some Fireflies and Shermans from the original Open Fire! game from Flames of War. Can I use those models in OP games? They are from the same company, but not sure if I need to use the new models. I will probably still buy one more core set and a few expansions to get appropriate cards for all my models in my list.

Battlefront/GF9 has typically been good, about a Sherman tank being a Sherman tank, regardless of the manufacturer. And I can't see any reason your opponent would object.

Just because you have the opportunity to shoot again with Final Fury doesn't mean you'll be able to. Since the Special Effects of Critical Hits are applied immediately when they are drawn (unlike Damage which doesn't affect the tank till the Command Phase), there might be a Special Effect in play that prevents you from shooting. For example, Stunned Crew and/or Damaged Optics could reduce your Attack stat to zero (so no shot); Jammed Turret gives you the Assault Gun rule (limits LoS, so possibly no target); and Bailed Out prevents you from shooting or moving. There's about a 1 in 3 chance a tank that's suffered a Critical Hit will have one of those four effects in play.

Hope they add the ops pack rules for release in the future. Will be cool to have some campaign books.
The first OPS packs are already en route to distributors/stores, with a July 18 start date for season one, and covers three missions based on the Normandy Invasion. At least four new terrain types (Bunkers, Trench Lines, Anti-Tank Trap, and Mine Fields), two of which have stat profiles (making them effectively immobile tanks). Oddly, they haven't updated the map, which still shows March/April/May for each mission, instead of the revised July/August/September.

Arnt the ops packs for stores only, not something on general release.

In theory, yes, but GF9 has provided options for game clubs to get the OPS Packs.

Bugger that's still not an option for me. Fingers crossed for something to come out along the line to expand the gameplay.

Great, then my list and models are all ready to go!

1st Polish Armoured

3 x Sherman V = 45 Points
-All with Liquid Courage = 3 Points
-One with Super Charger = 2 Points

2 x Sherman Firefly = 42 Points
-Both with Concrete Armour = 6 Points
-Both with Liquid Courage = 2 Points

Total = 100 Points

any tanks you have from flames of war can be used, as it is the same scale and same model(or other 15mm scale tanks for that matter). difference is that the older stuff from FoW is resin or tin, while the GF9 are pure plastic.
this thouse provide a issue for us FoW players tough. we have all the tanks allready so all we need is the statcard, but GF9 dont want to give them out that easily, and they dont want to talk about the issue aswell. i sendt them a mail 3 weeks ago, still no reply and i doubt i will get one.

this is a great game for when you dont have the time for 1500+ points FoW tank battles, as the rules a very simple and quick gameplay.
seems house rules stat cards is they way to go for us FoW players.

Umm... GF9 has had all the stat cards for the Wave One posted since the game was announced. Go to the Tanks store, click on the individual tank expansion, and scroll down in the right image pane. Left click on the thumbnail to bring up the card, then right click on the large image to save it. Those card images are slightly larger than the printed ones (3" x 4.25" as opposed to the 2.5" x 3.5" game cards), but have all the information you need. Just print them out on card stock and you're set.

'Course, you'll still need the starter set for a Critical Hit deck (assuming your opponent doesn't already have one) and Crew/Upgrade cards. But considering a good number of folks have been buying multiple starter sets for the savings (£18/$25 for three tanks vs £7/$10 for one), it may be easy to find someone who has a Critical Hit deck they could give you (the Crew/Upgrades might be harder to beg for, as folks will want multiples of each).

That doesnt show the upgrade cards though, or the heroes.

Does anyone know of a release schedule? I'm surprised there isn't an expansion for the Tiger I or King Tiger.

I’m sure glad GW is going to all plastic, so the ever-rising cost of white metal won’t impact the cost of their miniatures.

All that is known at this point is the remainder of Wave 1, which is British this month (Sherman V/Firefly, Cromwell, and Comet) and Soviets next month (T-34/T-34/85, SU-85/SU/100, ISU-122/ISU-152, and IS-85/IS-2), with battle mats and acrylic tokens mixed in.

Wave 2 probably won't be previewed for at least a couple months so as not to detract from the first OPS Season, which'll be running into October.

That would entail BF having plastic kits for those tanks. Both of them are presently resin and metal and I think only PSC does a plastic Tiger I (if anyone knows of a plastic 15mm KT, I'd be keenly interested to hear of it).

Not that I'm opposed to such a thing happening even with all the Tigers of varying stripes I have, but that's why they've not been mentioned.

Picked up a copy and had a starter game on Tuesday - it was good fun!
Don't pick it up if you want Nth degree of historical accuracy - the rules are designed to be simple and fun.

The starter scenario (two 75mm Shermans versus a Panther with a unique commander) took us a while. One thing to note is that tanks have trouble hitting another tank when both are moving (I mean, yes, they should, but for the sake of gameplay it's reaaaaally noticeable in this ruleset. The difference between firing on the move and firing whilst stopped is huge - especially for british tanks). We ended up - after all that - with a mutual kill; I managed to kill one Sherman by getting into a cluster of buildings (a higher initiative tank in close terrain can easily reduce the number of shots it takes) but annoyingly the first hit I took was a critical which killed my 8-point unique commander who was supposed to even out the 2-1 advantage in the scenario. Luck of the dice, I guess.

It is very X-wing-esque, although I will admit to concerns that it favours higher initiative tanks a lot; not being restricted to pre-planned maneuvers, shifting yourself so you only have line of sight to part of an attacking force is possible, and, up close, moving so one tank blocks line of sight to another, or ducking out of the arc of assault guns like the StuG G is going to be very easy.

Add this to the fact that - unlike X-wing/armada, where a lot of a tank's defences are 'once per turn' tokens - a tank has the same defence against each incoming shot, overwhelming a big tank with massed fire doesn't gain any cumulative advantage, and I suspect that 2 big tanks is probably significantly more dangerous than 7 smaller ones.

Theoretically you can field 7 StuG G assault guns, but with initiative 3 and a limited arc of fire, if someone gets in close they'll really struggle to get shots at all. The Jagdpanther, at least, is high initiative and expensive enough to justify a commander who'll increase the initiative further still - not to mention the fact that with a freakin' 88 on the front (the only one in the game until the tiger comes out) someone surviving long enough to "get in close" is easier said than done...

I'm also pleased that they look to be running an organised play event - the Normandy beaches - which adds in access to tank traps, entrenchments, and armed bunkers as more card terrain pieces - they'll be used in the scenarios themselves but will be a good way to expand the scope of the game.

I've got a starter set, and a friend has one too. Since he's not bothered about Ze Germans, I'll probably end up with those and he'll get the British.

That'd let me take a squad of two Panthers/Jagdpanthers for a starting force, and maybe add in a few lighter tanks later.

For the tank cards, go to the GF9 Tanks Store and click on the appropriate product. (Next part is easier to show than say...)

For the other cards (Crew, Heroes, Upgrades, and Criticals) see this Google Sheet. Collects all the stats for Tanks.

Yeah, I don't order from the GF9 website after a fiasco of an order back in January - that took 5 months and 2 sendbacks to fix.
