I own 2 entire mandible, and out of all of the Hounds and the Reaver's I end up playing the hounds more often. when you start looking at points almost 1500 is the core of your army, 750 ish you can still delicate support too and play around with, its a major hammer but not your only hammer. also 2 warhounds have the same D fire power as a Reaver and with Panderax book get shrouded. Or you can kit it out to many roles.

Do you ever go into a fight thinking "there's no point giving it my best, I'll get another chance later?"

Your Logic is Flawed

The thing is, whether you're talking points on the table or actual money, you can field at least 2 Imperial Knights for every 1 Titan. If just one of those Knights assaults your Titan it's done.

Now especially with the Renegade box deal... you can field 4 Knights for less than it costs to field a single Titan.

But as I said earlier in this thread, the Titan's are still cool and I have one (unbuilt) myself haha.

Logics a bit off. The newest rules for the imperial Titans makes all but the Warhound hitable on a 5+ for GMCs and SH Walkers, and the Warhound can outrun any knight on the table. Knights don't hold a candle to Actual Titans.

Well "all but the warhound" really? ...Ok so we have the Warlord, which we'll very rarely see, and then the Reaver which we'll also rarely see... then there's the warhound, which the OP expressed the most interest in. Are there more I don't know about?

Yeah it has 9HP but still the void shields don't work in close combat and Knight is a beast in assault.

They are also the same speed are they not?

And what newest rules? ...the Warhound is in the (GW version) Apocalypse book. Are you talking about Horus Heresy?

I think you'll get more play out of the Warhound and it arguably looks better... bonus points if you give it a tail :3

The Warhound is Agile. It can easily outrun any Questoris knight.

Anyone who plays a titan knows how to bubble wrap it. In addition those D weapons should obliterate the knight before it gets close enough to assault. It doesn't have any void shields and a single roll of a 6 on the D chart is D6+6 HP gone. I have downed Multiple knights in a turn. They are just that easy to blow up.

Knights hold nothing compared to a full blooded titan, yes there are some that can threaten a Warhound or larger (mainly the lancer) but thats only in CC, knights just get gunned down from afar. there is few things that can take 2-4 Str D hits a turn and live.

The hard to hit and not locked in CC is only the 30K Titans as far as I was aware.

isnt that under holo fields though?

Anyways, that does bring up a good question OP, will this be 30K or 40K that you will be running the titan?

D isn't as powerful in 30k which is worth remembering.

The hard to hit rule is not under holofields, it is under wraith titan.

Yeah my Phantom and 2 Revenants grew in power with the latest IA11 update. I was kinda excited (not that they aren't already pretty powerful).

I've never really been a big fan of the Reaver, and compared to the new Warlord it shows its age a lot more than the Warhound, which still looks good; still impressive on the battlefield, but there are so many great details to the Warlord. Warhound is more usable in actual games, and not ridiculously powerful, though obviously you still need a big enough game or there's not much point in your opponent playing unless their army is heavily anti-mech oriented, in which there's probably not much point in you playing instead

Of course if I had the money I'd just love to have a Warlord, and even if I couldn't actually field it a lot of the time it'd still make a great centre-piece to battles. People sometimes forget you don't need to actually use Super Heavies as they look great as scenery pieces, either treating them as wrecks for extra cover or with something like the Reaver and Warlord you could use it as moving terrain as you fight a smaller battle around its feet as it advances each turn towards some major threat elsewhere. I've done this with my Shadowsword a few times as I don't often get games where it's worth taking in my army, but just having the bulk moving through the centre of a ruined city board as extra scenery can introduce an interesting dynamic as it blocks off some route or opens up others as it goes.

Yes. The newest (40k) rules are the Chaos Warhound and Chaos Reaver in Imperial Armour 13, and the newest titan rules in total are those in the Horus Heresy series, which include the 6+/5+ to hit in combat penalty on Reavers and Warlords.

A plastic Warhound is one of those things that I would not be able to resist getting. Get a Warhound, so I may live vicariously through you. It's also lower in points and power level, so you'd be more likely to actually use it in a game.
