There aren't a lot of genres "empty" of a good rules set. Some still exist, but there are some pretty good quality options out there for most periods.

Weell there is nothing new under the sun, but I find that the quick, easy Osprey wargames series is a great intro to almost any period/setting.

I was thinking a sci-fi/colonial game ala Martian Empires this morning.

I'd quite like to see a sub-squad level WW2 skirmish game. Maybe 10 mini's a side with lots of separate roles, possibly with a mode allowing them to be matched up with a much stronger force (like a few squads or a vehicle) that is all about stealth/cover/positioning than anything else.

Kinda like a bigger version of that Execution Force game, but good.

Something a lot closer to Inglorious B*****s, or the Call of Duty / Battlefield style games.

A new board game, V-Commandos sounds like it may be something you would be interested in.

Sounds like mashing up the games "Operation: Squad" and "Black Ops".

Crimean or Franco-Prussian war would be kind of cool to see something for.

Oh, and a Zombie game. Not just because virtually everyone else has published a zombie game, but because it'd be pretty straightforward to base it on The Men Who Would Be Kings.

Osprey is publishing Ash Barker's zombie rules system. I think.

I'd like a 6mm Sci-fi Battle game rather than a Mech skirmish game
Micro scale game systems rather than skirmishes.
Science Fiction and Fantasy battle games as well. (Dragon Rampant is a Warband system)

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.
