IN for this! I have an unpainted Skaven army from the Isle of Blood set I would like to complete. I guess timetable would be this:

January - finish Rat Ogres and Master Moulder
February - 10 Clan rats
March - 10 Clan rats and Weapon Teams
April - Warlord and Warlock Engineer
May - 10 Clan rats
June - 10 Clan rats

Order might change but that seems the most sensible way to get this army completed.

(3000+ Points)
Lizardmen (3000+ point 8th ed army)
GSC (1500ish points)
Cothique High Elves, Legio Astorum, Flesh Tearers, and plenty more on the go.

I'm away from my stuff at present, thanks to the Christmas break, but I suspect my January pledge will be to complete some Oathsworn figures.

I'll aim for at least four.

To start off with, I'll try to finish 5 Devastators that have been in painting limbo, partially complete, for like 10 months now.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

I enjoyed doing this last year, so I'm going to sign back up again!

My goal here is going to be simple: the bolt action Brits I got for christmas:

I have my main hobby blog, but I want to focus that more on my Praetorian IG, so I think this challenge will help me keep some focus on a secondary goal.

So for January I am working on the Clancy Gang from Blackwater Gulch. Idea here is speed painting with washes. No time to go back and fix mistakes. That red wash that is on the neck? That's just a happy little glancing wound from a bullet!

3 hours and they are almost done, which means bonus gang for them to fight with!

Good Luck all!

...I actually managed to put brush to model for the first time this year last night. Not at home, as I'm still tidying up my painting area, but at my NSLBFGS' Fridat night hobby evening.

Unfortunately, the night was cut short due to a staff migraine - which is fair enough - but I had managed to get a few bits done before then, namely:
* Highlighted Maverick Mike's "skin" with a mix of Beast Hide and Menoth White Base
* Basecoated the pages of the Mole Friar's book with Menoth White Base
* Basecoated the rope around the Mole Friar's waist with Rucksack Tan
* Basecoated the quilted armour on the Female Dwarf Fighter with VMC Scurvy Green

I also did a little research on French Napoleonic uniforms for Mike, how moles look (and realised I'd need to break out the Pink again), as well as pugs - I was about the basecoat the Pug Bounty Hunter's fur when the night got called off.

Still, some progress is better than none, right?

I've finished the first unit for the year. A small group fo 6 Vikings - probably Hearthguard. Kind of a "cheat" in that 5 of them were painted last year, but then I didn't give myself unit credit for them in any of last year's months since the 6th wasn't finished then, so swings and roundabouts....

My next finished unit(s) for January. Two or three (depending on if I run 2 Regiments, or 1 regiment and 1 horde) units of Dwarf Warriors - originally from the Battle for Skull Pass box set.

They were planned to be my strong finish to 2016 in December, but that didn't happen, and so now they're a strong start to 2017 instead. More pics here.

Well, now I've tamed my painting table, I should crack on and get some stuff done.

On the outside change you might be interested, I've recently written a review on the new C'thu Prime figure from Tor Gaming.

Hobby evening at the NSLBFGS, so I'll at least be making some progress.

If it isn't too late i'd love to join in with this. Anything that motivates me to put paint to brush. I only started again with 40k in December after about a 10 year absence.

I'm up for this if it's not too late? Recently picked up some paints for the first time in years!! Going to be working on my Dark Angels - I have 1 terminator painted and have started a land raider. My goal for June - 2 tactical squads, deathwing squad, land raider, company master. Stretch goal would be to do the 2 rhinos for the tactical squads but we'll see...!!

I've attached a picture of the terminator I've already done... Not sure how to make him the right way up!!!

My January goal is a combat squad of tactical marines.

@Azazelx: I'd say you're off to a very good start! I wouldn't worry about the models having been mostly done previously-my first entry for the year will be some models that I mostly did last spring (they just need finishing touches).

@Janumools: Nice to see another fellow Son of the Lion getting some paint down! I think you make 3 of us in this challenge! Your terminator looks really good BTW!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):

Voodoo's first model done and here's where the collection stands now.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

@Azazelx - yes mate, I went extravagant with Scibor bases for the whole army. I'm going to redo them - probably black marble for the faces and a sandstone-ish colour for the other bits on the base. My original plan was something simple so as not to detract from the model but I'm not satisfied as is. For now I'll just get some paint on the bases and redo later.

@ZergSmasher - thanks mate )

man, I don't think I've actually touched a brush yet this year ...combination of generally being a bit busy, and any hobby stuff I've gotten around to has just been prep-work...clipping/cleaning/assembling new models, and stripping old models...but I guess, once I'm done with all that, I'll have around 100 Mantic zombies for my nurgle chaos marines, and...actually I can't really remember, but probably around 50? old rogue trader "beakie" space marines, another 30-odd assorted metal space marines, and some fancy forgeworld models for my salamanders...so a good 200 models altogether, nearly all ready for priming and painting...

ohhh man...I now deeply regret thinking about that! - I am now keenly aware that I have a good 200 models pretty much ready to go!

...and that's really just the tip of my hobby iceberg too...I have a fair deal more marine stuff to get to, a load of chaos marines/daemons stuff, and...let's just not even bring up my orks. oh dear.

anyway, at the moment I'm kinda feeling like painting some zombies...so I might try and get a batch of them painted by the end of the month...let's say...10 zombies...hopefully as many as 35, for a max unit...but we'll see

I'm going to likely roll my pledge for this month into next month, as I'm mass building all the bolt action brits at once. Building 50 plastic bolt action models is a solid bit of work, so I'm going to cheat, and make this months goal getting everything assembled. (Priming is weather dependent).
