I've just about decided what I'm going to paint this month. I think I'll paint up a Rum & Bones pirate. I've got six different ones, so what I might do is proof photograph each of them, then see which one takes my fancy as I start painting them. Would that be okay, or a contravention of the rules?

Just finished mine...but with the weather (cold and wet) I don't know when I'll be able to matte and base them.

Heck, do them all and then select whichever one is least good to leave out in the end. I don't think it'll matter!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

Here's my proof pic. Working on a Renegade Inquisitor who has joined the ranks of the Sons of Malice, definitely a scoundrel who'd stab you in the back in a moments notice, and then drink the blood oozing from your wound!
Can't wait to do more work on him but need moar paintz.

Hopefully I get more paints and get this guy finished within the next couple weeks as I'm going away for a visit from the 26th- feb 1st so I'll have to get this guy done and photographed before then!

Nice backstory to your entry Drummernathan

Hello and Welcome Bandwagon, great to have you join in, I look forward to seeing what you do with the model.

Very quick and well done Elbows, you have a nice Eldar army developing with these last 2 entries.

Update for mine below, I haven't finished all the riveting but I set myself a target of finishing the main bits by this weekend so I can get him undercoated or I'll never finish painting in time.

Thanks, Modock. I normally start with a very vague idea in my head colour-wise and then ham-fist my way through it. I'm exceptionally pleased that it all came together. One of the many joys of painting an Eldar army. I have a simple Craftworld scheme and then the fun of painting all of the aspects differently, pirates differently, harlequins differently...and perhaps even exodites some time.

OP all up to date now, nice to see a lot of new entrants!

Love those Pirates, Elbows, great stuff. Might have just given me an idea for my own entry as well, I was going to go with a Radical Inquisitor with all kinds of Xenos gear but this might just work better...

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Finished! The mark of Slaanesh came in the post today and he is now finished: the Silver Knight.

(Just a heads up, I don't have a proper camera for close up model pics, in fact this is the first model I have built and painted souly for the sake of painting, so sorry about the quality of the picture and/or the model)

I would really appreciate it if some of the more experienced painters here could give me a couple of tips.

Going to give this round a go too! Will be (hopefully) painting my old Farsight model, providing the finecast survives me stripping the paint!

Spoiler:

I always try to keep this up to date with what projects I'm working on... but they just keep piling up

Perfect timing. Before I paint them more, I'm painting the 25 grots on the left of this picture. Primed them Sunday and put a single coat of blue on last night.

Pay no attention to his new crew (not part of the entry, just sharing space on the workbench). But I wanted to get some WIP shots to prove I’m painting. Still not sure what color to do the parrot, but figured whatever I went with, a yellow undercoat would help brighten his plumage. Still blocking in colors

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I'll go ahead and throw this in with the lot:

It's Bandai's 1/144 scale Slave I. These are parts to the underside of the hull and for frame of reference, those squares are 1"x1". Luckily, given the engineering of the kit, I should be able to paint most of the parts before assembly to limit the amount of masking I need to do. I really hope to have this done by the end of the month so I can take it to my model club's monthly meeting (otherwise I'll be going empty handed).

I'm stuck waitin' on parts, and I'll bet the weather delays their already late arrival date. One of these months I'll be ahead of the curve, but clearly it's not to be this time.

So... parts actually showed up today despite an estimated arrival date of the 17th, and the 12" of snow that fell last night. I guess the USPS really does get the mail through whether hail or rain or sleet or snow. Now I gotta figure out wth I'm making for this month.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

I managed to get most of the cockpit done yesterday, except for the tiny little Boba Fett that will sit behind the console:

I've got all the rear section pieces on sticks separated by color only to realize that I don't have any field grey paint from any of the paint ranges I use:

So that means I'll need to take a trip to the hobby shop some time today to remedy that problem.

This Is Where the Fish Lives

Slowly piecing the back of the ship together. I've actually ran into little bit of a roadblock because I didn't have the proper green, Tamiya Field Green (XF-65), for a number of the pieces so I had to run to the hobby shop to get a jar. In the mean time, I managed to get the grey pieces and engine nozzles painted. I also applied some of the small decals supplied with the kit. I ended up getting all of the field green pieces painted after I snapped this picture this morning but a few of them can only go on after the winglets are put in, but they have more painting and weathering to do on them.
