I've just read through this blog and it's inspiring! My trouble is that while I really want to make my own Thunderbolt to accompany my Death Korps (because it is THE best flyer, end of), I wouldn't really know where to start: I'm still a bit of a novice when it comes to plasticard and the stories of the FW kit are enough to make your toenails curl...

wow. Just wow. Your work is amazing. I was looking at the gunships and thinking, wow it is plastic card, looks just like the model. I can see HOW you did the builds, but I can't even cut a straight piece of plastic tubing, much less build a whole model. Very cool.

I just saw the display case for those metal models at the local craft shop, they only had the tie fighters left , they look very neat, well done.

The metal M. Falcon was an interesting departure but how fares the Thunderbolt? The last images looked very promising. Automatically Appended Next Post: I just reviewed the entire thread and was very impressed with the Thunderhawk which appears to follow the FW model more closely than mine. What is the status on that as well?

We got this in the Star Wars: Star Tours ride shop in Disney's Hollywood Studios - it's a great little shop if you can force your way though all the Padawans... Rumours are that they are going to expand the whole Star Wars area, I guess to tie in with the next movies? monkeytroll wrote:That's afun looking falcon. What was assembly like?
It was surprisingly simple. Pieces where all properly cut and all fitted together extremely well... no glue/soldering needed, just bending little tabs over to fit together. Instructions where also very good. Next time we go to Disney World, we'll get the other its ( AT- AT; Tie Fighter & R2-D2) Gorgrimm wrote:wow. Just wow. Your work is amazing. Give it a go, it's easier than you think... Just need patience and the desire to do it... Theophony wrote:I just saw the display case for those metal models at the local craft shop, they only had the tie fighters left , they look very neat, well done.
Thanks Theo - Interesting to know that these models are widely available outside the Disney parks in the US The_Blackadder wrote:The metal M. Falcon was an interesting departure but how fares the Thunderbolt? The last images looked very promising.
Thanks Mr B... The T-Bolt needs some love again - I did start some work on the cockpit area - must try and do some more this weekend... Yeah, my T-Hawk is more on the lines of the FW version as I went with Eli Patoroch's templates. Plan is to get the T-Bolt done (probably not painted though) and then back to the Flying Brick...

Finally some more progress on the Thunderbolt
Built the cockpit hood and made a start on the interior (although not obvious from these shots)
Also installed theses vents under the jet engines - presume these are to aid VTOL?
Next job - re-build the central fuselage cover in front of the cockpit...

Got to say, don't think you need to paint it, the way it is the colour and all, looks very cool, StarWars white style!

Hey mate! Glad to see this is still progressing well! As it has been said the detailing is insanely good! And I am with Cam....I think the white with the grime of the production process looks pretycool.... maybe just needs some details painted on.... nice idea..
Top work!
