We've confirmed this date. Our next RTT will be on Saturday, September 18th, 2010 at Aero Hobbies and Games. Details are available at our site here.

I think as most Dakka regulars can attest, this RTT circuit is quickly becoming one of the most competitive in Southern California. Come prove your mettle with some of the best players in the region!

Note those who qualify from our open tournaments will be granted invites to our special invitational tournament at the end of the season. To qualify you either need to win one of our open tourneys or win an at large slot via ELO ranking.

If you want to be considered one of the best 40k players in So Cal this is a great way to illustrate that. See you guys at our next RTT!

I'm toying with the idea of going.

Santa Monica is a haul for me though...

Call Aero Hobbies if you guys want to nail down slots. If they waffle about reserving a slot over the phone let me know in this thread and I'll call on your behalf.

Better hurry though the tourney unfortunately caps at 12 people because the shop is so small. Look forward to seeing all of you there!

It's been discussed but I unfortunately don't see it being feasible until we get to the GT level. But a 32 man tourney is in the very early planning stages

You'd probably have to hit up a different store. See if there is anyone relatively local that will let you run it out of their shop. You could also try Game Ogre. They are in Northridge but the owner is a former GW DM and ran tournaments as an outrider for years. He'd probably be down

I'll have to check out that store since I live in the Valley. The reality is that we can't go higher than 16 anyway even if we had the space because the Swiss format requires a 5th round if you go beyond 16 players and cramming another round into one day simply isn't feasible. But it's a consideration if we really want to expand from 12 to 16 which frankly might very well be worth a venue change. New Sprue Posse tournaments! Now with 25% more competitiveness!!!

Nice Kevin. You could also look into running 1 a month. Switch off months at different venues to build up a larger amount of people for your invitational as well as getting a better feel for your rankings system. Just another thought

I heartily recommend any store that is associated with my buddy. Dudes a gamer thru and thru and has run more than a few shops of his own and for other companies. I only knew about it because I ran into him at the con over Memorial Day weekend at his booth. Check it out

Dragon's Den games in hollwood may be an option too - haven't been there yet but they're hosting the Fantasy 'ard boyz round 2 so they must have a decent amount of tables.

But less players is better, gives me a chance to place!

Why not check out the Bunker? They have tons of space.

@Monster Rain

You should man, it is a lot of fun. Before you know it you will be looking forward to all of the events! They get addictive.

I'll ask the fellas and see if they are down for the road trip and then call right away to see if there is any space.

The problem with the bunker is you end up with bunker people, and this is supposed to be a competitive series, not a few competitive people curbstomping everyone else series.

In all honesty, I see the size of the bunker as a negative. While it would be nice to be somewhere a tad larger than Aero, the size means that you do need to register in advance, and that requires a modicum of effort and dedication. It means that you don't get people who wander in the day of, demanding to register up to an hour late after games have started, with a list built from whatever random models that they brought to paint.

These are open tournaments so of course anyone is welcome with a legal list. That said the format of the tournament lends itself to competitive list construction and generalship. People tend to gravitate to tournaments that they like. A tournament without soft scores isn't for everybody. Also, the nature of the swiss system generally means all the most competitive players are competing for the top slots at the tourney anyway.

So far we haven't had to turn anyone away from these. Signing up a full 12 requires a lot of promotion on my part to begin with. If I start having to turn people away though I'm happy to expand to a larger venue if there is one that's available.

Here is the tourney itinerary since someone asked:

10:50 - 11:10 Registration / Pairings
11:10 - 12:55 Round 1
12:55 - 1:25 Lunch
1:25 - 3:10 Round 2
3:15 - 5:00 Round 3
5:05 - 6:50 Round 4
6:50 - 7:00 Awards Ceremony

Please present an army list to me the morning of the tournament. If you prefer to email it that also works: markemn@yahoo.com (Please identify who you are in your email with the list). I just need the list before the tournament starts.

Remember that the winner gets an invitational slot to our 2k tourney in December!

I look forward to seeing everyone there!

No worries Reecius. I know it's a drive.

I wanted to chat you up about maybe taking one of these down to Game Empire next year. Sprue Posse hits the road! I gotta discuss with Cliff of course .

Our next RTT is on October 23rd. Mark it down.

I am actually moving up North to the Bay Area. The man to talk to would be Bob or Shane. They run the tournaments.

I think it would be a great idea.
