Hi one and all.

I’ve been thinking about starting an Adpetus Mechanicus army for ages now. I’ve got a few ideas and I wanted to see what you guys think about them.
Having had a look around for a while now at the troops other people have made I’ve seen two methods that look good to me; WFB High Elf Archer legs / Cadian torso and the WFB Bretonian man at arms body / Cadian arms. I’ve made a mock up of the first and i liked how it came out but I think I may prefer the more medieval/ragtag appearance of the second option.
Anyway I digress.....

I made a Magos out of an WFB Empire Battle Wizard, although I was pleased with the outcome I don’t think it ended up having the bulk I imagined a Magos to have

Earlier today I had a thought of making a Magos out of a WFB Chaos Warrior, adding things such as bionics and a hood. This would represent the Tech Priests chamber militant and would be alot bulkier.

What do people think of this?

Also I am in the middle of making a mounted Magos on a Blood Crusher lol.

Heres a few test minis.... more to come.

The joins of the arms need tidying up and im not happy with the left arm of the guy at the back. I may put wire in and GS over it instead.
Also ive started giving them implants (eyes) which you cant see on these pictures. Going to add more later.

The green disc on the middle guy is a mechanicas cog/skull molded off a tech priest. Im going to make it look like a medallian on a chain.

Any one know where to get some cheap fine chain?

Nice stuff, though to me they don't look incredibly mechanicus, but rather some cool IG regiment. I'd like to see more though, and also some pics with paint. Keep up the good work.

Yeah I understand that completly...

As I said now the main componants are there im now thinking on what to do to add the "mechanicus" feel to them. Ive added one or two eye-bionics. Might model a few boinic legs as well. Maybe add some armour plating out of plasti-card.

I have two other Skittari on the go made out of the High Elf / Cadian mix as well, one has a hood/cowle that im rather pleased with. Shall post photos of them later.

##Edit## Found it.

You can see the eye implant on the left guy.

These High Elf versions will be the vetrans I think. And thus they will be more modified as they are higher in rank in the cult. I see augmentaions being a gift to those that rise though the ranks not given to all.

Yeah thats pretty much how i did it. All though i may have rushed it, also the paint on the donor mini may have made the mold not so great. Plus i tend to rush sperating the two halves as im worried they may stick lol. I do have vasaline so i may make a new mold. Thanks for the tip though. I will leave it over night next time.

i like the first example better. i have done both for various guard or scout related ideas haha, and i think the Men at arms look a ton better! i also think the shields are awesome and they could really be utalized to show off a very knightly look for the ad mech, somehow that seems to fit to me.

will be keeping tabs on this

Look what i saw on another forum! These would make an awsum addition to any admech army. Or perhaps even dare i saw converted into pre-heresy dreadnoughts?

Thinking This and the following minis may be good storm troopers. With some ad-mechanisation of course!

Yeah i've seen that range before, some good stuff there. I especially like their tracked models. Bit pricey though. But they already have the Ad mech symbol on them....

Its great getting all these things in one place .

Thanks, although I think my skills are modest at best. Just ordered some new skulpting goodies. So perhaps that will help. Just realised ive been using the standard GW dentist sculting tool for about 8 years (i think). So got me a 12 piece set off ebay . Plus some armature wire for my Magos. Gonna look into some drawings of Magos's (Magosi? lol).

Also got me some mold making latex etc.... So we shall see about making these castable. Need to tidy them up alot first though.

Oh and gonna pick up some milliput on my way home from work if I remember.

Ad mech sergeant now with added bionics.

Dremeled out the old leg and modeled new one. Might put extra cables and details on at some point and tidy up the mask.
