Having played Infinity for about a year now, and I'm thinking about starting a second army. The units of the Combined Army (CA) seem really interesting, and I've been aching to try out a TAG. I've seen some Dakka avatar portraits with CA units, so I will assume that means we have some CA players here? If so, what are some units you would recommend getting? Has anyone tried the new sectorial lists yet?

Here are just a few units that have caught my attention:

LI:Haiduk - Guided MULTI Sniper Rifle, Sapper
HI:Charontid - MSV L3, No Wound Incapacitation, ARM5, W2
SK:Malignos - AutoMedKit, TO Camo, Monofilament Mines
TAG:Sphinx - TO Camo, Spitfire, 2x Heavy Flamethower, Climbing Plus

So many toys to choose from!

Anyways, I wanted to see if anyone can provide me with some unit recommendations and/or some unit combinations they tried/played against to give me some ideas on how to start a Combined Army. Thanks in advanced!

I play Combined Army, but only about a dozen games.

For what it's worth, I think the Charontid is amazing. MSV3 is great. The plasma gun is fantastic - a single failed plasma EM roll and their HI or TAG is out of the game. 3 wounds pretty much thanks to No Wound Incap. And he makes a great lieutenant because if he dies you don't suffer loss of lieutenant.

He's fantastic!

After him, I really like the thermal optic multi-sniper, the exrah drop trooper, the exrah MSV2 HMG MI, and the Speculo Killer.

I'm not as sure the Speculo is quite as good as those other guys, but he's good imo, and great fun. 2 discovery rolls before anybody can shoot at him, and a mono-filiment weapon means insta-killing even tags.

The Sphinx looks a lot of fun to me, but I've no experience with it. It's not got infiltration IIRC so would you not have to deploy it as a token and advance with it? You wouldn't really just lurk in your deployment zone with that many points? So you'd want to have a good few other TO tokens to hide it amongst.

Some food for thought. Thanks!

1. Any chance you can post some lists you've ran in the past? My friends and I are up to the 300-point level.

2. Any input on TAGs? Anything work particularly well in your experience?

Here's the most recent one that I played, I play at 300 points also.

I try to have 10 models where possible, in order to get the orders in, and I don't own any Tags. I've never felt the need to spend the money on them, I just don't play Infinity often enough, though I'd like to play it a lot more.

Charontid is lieutenant that can't cause loss of leadership. Also the big hammer that I kill things with.

Malignos TO multi-sniper rifle pops out at an awkward time, like the last move of an opponents turn, and is death to anything but heavies, and is pretty vicious to HI if they don't have a visor to threaten him with.

Daturazi provide smoke, which combos with the Charontid's MSV. They're also superb CC fighters, being able to kill the CC specialists of other races. Chain rifle is nice for intuitive attacks on markers. They're also cheap, and being regular provide orders to the pool.

Vector is fun. Another MSV2, to take advantage of the smoke grenades, and to stop camo being a problem for me. Also super jump lets him jump up to partial cover, fire hmg, and fall back down into full cover. Another option is the Iskaller to get a super-jumping HMG drop troop. I like them. Drop in somewhere miles away, super jump up and HMG their cheerleaders to bits.

I'm not sure why I have a forward observer shrouded in the list I'd guess I just had the spare points and nothing else to really fit in, but keep 10 models, so I figured I might as well have the flash pulse. Alternative possibility is I forgot about removing him after removing a guided or speculative attacker from a previous list, but I think it's the first reason.

Hacker is there because of spare points and also to give the possibility of hacking combat jump if I have nothing better to do with orders on a turn. Also, could possibly be of use if my opponent goes HI heavy, which my main opponent does.

MORAT Hacker
2x MORAT Combi Rifle
VECTOR HMG
MALIGNOS MULTI Sniper Rifle
2x DÄ€TURAZI Chain Rifle
MORAT Paramedic
SHROUDED Combi Rifle, Forward Observer
CHARONTID Lieutenant Plasma Rifle

Thanks for the list, I will test it out (via proxy) next time I play. I did make one minor upgrade by replacing the "MORAT Paramedic" with the "Med-Tech Obsidon Medcharoid" and the "SHROUDED Combi Rifle, Forward Observer" with "SHROUDED (Minelayer)".

This will give me one extra camouflaged (mine) marker to start on the board, and a WIP 14, MOV:6-4 doctor & engineer.

I'm tempted to run some REMs since you already have a hacker, but I don't think I can spare the points.
