Let me guess, it's either from Russia or China?

OT: Yet the struggle continues with those 2 mighty Tactical Marines I have no idea how people paint fast, it takes me so much time to properly base-color all the details. (And it's so boring).

I came home yesterday after spending eight hours in meetings and writing up emails. Eugh... These have been sitting on my desk for a week now, so I thought I'd have a go at painting them to put my mind elsewhere a bit. =P

Just put the finishing touches to a second warband of Orcs, bringing me up to 58 minis painted in the last 8 days. Not bad at all, at this point I may be finishing my'new year's project' of a Mordor army before the new year...

Good thing I am now eyeing up a Hobbit-era dwarf army... Well, good for my paintdesk, not my wallet...

Witch! Burn the witch it paints too fast!

All I managed to do was get a couple of regiments of skaven multibased for KoW, they've been painted forever.

Think I'm gonna do a little work on my Honor Guard, but we'll see.

Cheers mate.

Still weeks of work to do though. Battledamage, weathering, fixing all the little details and missed spots, yellow/black warning stripes ( also weathered... ) base... I wanna start crying already.

Heh. I lost the willpower to spend that much time on a single model. I don't have a lot of painting skill to justify it anyway, but even if I did my mindset for the hobby is to turn things over and get on to something else. Looks like you are 'doing it right', however, quite nice

Like I said before, the autocannon looks cool. More tank like. The weathering and stowage add a nice level of detail, and the color scheme is solid

Last night I finally got around to undercoating my Cygnar, and to day I painted my Ironclad and Charger. I'm going for mostly black with some yellow details/accents/what have you.

I now wish I had undercoated them yellow and then painted the black parts, instead of the other way around, because ughhhh painting yellow.

Oh yeah painting yellow over anything but yellow or white is rough =/.

Did some airbrush work today. I finished 3 more regiment bases for Kings of War yesterday night so sprayed on their basecoat this afternoon and have since flocked them. I'm giving it another hour or so and I'll see about adding some more skaven I guess.

I also did everything I could with the airbrush on the scene for my infinity diorama, so that's not done but getting there.

I find it comes out better over a light brown than straight priming with Yellow or White, which comes out way too bright. Try painting the yellow bits a brown first, then layering the yellow up.

But you're going to be layering and layering and layering and layering and layering with yellow.

Now I have said yellow so many times it does not make sense. Yellow.

Heh. I'm lazy and I usually don't paint things with that much time. The only things I've painted yellow so far have been strictly table top jobs. The up from brown thing sounds solid, if I ever paint anything yellow that deserves the effort

It seems to have come out OK. I used P3 paints, so I painted Rucksack Tan over the black, then a couple layers of Heartfire, which is an Orange-ish yellow, then a gakload of layers of Cygnus Yellow. It still looks a bit spotty and inconsistent, but if you stand back ten feet, they look.... OK considering they're like the first models I've painted in five years, and the only models I've ever made an actual serious attempt at painting (other than a couple Space Marines five years ago). I'm not a super-great painter.

I also think my attempts to make them look a bit dingy with Armor Wash didn't help much.

I always had three problems with gaming tanks. The first was that they took up way too much space, second was the expense and the third was I struggled to get a smooth coat over large flat areas.

Switching to 15mm for vehicle heavy games solved the first two but does anyone have any tips for painting large flat areas short of using an airbrush which I sadly don't own.

Thin your paints well and do many layers.

But yeah smaller scales are fantastic for vehicle heavy games. That's why Dropzone Commander works so well.

In the last two days, I have painted...

A single, solitary Knight of Minas Tirith... Yeah, 60 minis in a week and then one in two days. Something about Cavalry, I guess; I just hate painting horses.

Not to mention I'm running low on primer and can't get any more until the weekend, so I'm trying to be conservative with it until then, which large cavalry models are not conducive to (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it).

Probably back to Blood Angels for a change of pace.
