Hi dakka! How should I go about casting the dreaded 14th spell for skaven? Everytime I have 6 dice in hand? use this as a scare spell and cast everything else making my opponent save dispel dice? Combine with powerscroll and call it quits after that and concentrate on other spells?

Input would be cool as I find myself casting that spell every chance I get and I don't think that's how I should be casting it. Happy upcoming Thanksgiving!

Best use of this spell is gotten when you have already thinned out the number of models in the target unit. Especially sweet against WoC erm warrior units or others that start out small to begin with.

If you want to be sneaky (and you should if you're playing skaven), a power stone on a grey seer is a great ploy. it gives +2 power dice for a single spell, and can be combined with the d3 warp stone tokens that every grey seer automatically comes with. Throw dice into other dangerous spells (see: Crack's Call, Scorch, Death Frenzy), forcing your opponent to break out their dispel dice / scrolls. When you've got a couple dice left, quaff your warp stone, break your power stone and toss a bunch of dice at the dreaded 13th. Be sure to target high cost, lower count units like White Lions, Pheonix Guard, Black Orks, Warriors of Chaos or pretty much any truly annoying unit. This is especially true if there is some sort of infantry character in the unit, as if you roll high enough even those characters (eg: the BSB) are now filthy little clan rats waiting to do your bidding!

If it's allowed where you play, the power scroll makes it even more surely it will go off.

Is that like one better than the dreaded 13th spell? Others have already pointed out that it's best used on elite targets, smaller units where you can tag characters too, that sort of thing. Sometimes a good target will be *any* small infantry unit, so long as its in a place where you would like to have some clan rats. You can't hit war machines with it, but you can use it to turn a small rearguard infantry unit defending those warmachines into clan rats. They can also clog up battle lines, or get some rats in behind where you might be able to get at vulnerable wizards and the like.

On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”

Right target, right time. Don't just cast it because you have the dice. Wait until it's game winning.

Also, is hilarious on Ogre sized stuff. Wipes them clean out.

If by that, you mean it doesn't affect them at all because they're not Infantry, then yes.

Huh? When did that happen? Is that covered in the FAQ?

If so, my Ogres no longer fear the Ratses!

It dosen't need to be, the spell clearly states it works on units of infantry, ogres however are monstrous inantry which in this eddition is an entirely separate unit type.

As Hoverboy says, its just one of those 7th -> 8th ed changes. Previously ogre-class was still "Infantry", so could be affected. Now they cant be as they are Monstrous Infantry.
