Jesus... that's one hell of a supply drop Thraxas lol.
Are you going for Ironstrider Balistarii or Sydonian Dragoons?

Cheers AOV, I should have been less thick as I used that tutorial you posted for some reverse muzzle burn on the Errant.

I am currently thinking 2 Dragoons and 2 Balistarii, even though most seem to think that the latter are far less effective than the former. Then again it may change to 3 Dragoons as they do just look cooler, either way I will have the option to use the Ironstrider Formation.

I am looking forward to the two Dunecrawlers I have due around monday too.

Have you considered magnets? If you can magnetise the riders and guns you should have enough interchangeability to do either/or without too much work.

I'm a big advocate of magnets

The knight looks great

I'm counting on you to get that new stuff painted up so I can gawk, haven't had a look at any new GW releases so you're my source for the skitari stuff

I'm not the best at battle damage, but the idea is to try to make it look as natural as possible. In other words, add chipped paint to the edges of things, as thats where paint normally chips off. Thinks like that. Looking at pictures really helps me, though I admitedly still have plenty of room for improvement.

I struggle with applying rust and corrosion as well, but the idea is still the same there too. Look at pictures to figure out where rust naturally builds and try to apply that. Rust normall builds up where water can sit, so around rivets, etc.

Magnets are something that I have never really considered, but I could see them being very useful on something like the Ironstriders. It would involve a bit of research into tutorials and materials on my part though.

So I have the the first part of my Skitarii Maniple (latin, I believe, for non milk giving bit of man) done with a unit of 5 Rangers:

Here they are with the Knight Errant:

And work on my 10 man vanguard unit with 2 Plasma calivers has begun as well:

Thank you all.

@Calbanite Lion: What Knight upgrade bits are there? I have a very limited knowledge of Forge World's products.

Anyway I have already constructed the 2 O(w)nagers, one with Neutron Laser and one with Icarus Array. I will get some pictures up tomorrow.

As ever, thanks for looking.

Really neat work on that Onager, Thraxas. Looks badass
I assume you're keeping the servo arm bits for an upcoming project?

Great stuff once again! Did you manage to magnetise the Striders in the end z or just settle on the one version?

I could not really figure out a way of doing it. The kit only has one body so you would have to have separate magnets for each arm and for the head (Dragoons are Vanguard(ish) Ballistarii are Rangers) and then I could not even begin to work out how to attach the guns on the Ballistarii. Lucky I have 4 of the kits, I think running 2 of each is the way I will go.

Fair enough, I didn't realise they were that fiddly!

With the two Onagers and the Knight providing a healthy amount of long-range firepower, I'd almost be tempted to run them as two units of two Dragoons. Not only do I massively prefer the look of the lancers, but two fast units to press in on a flank while the rest of the army bombards them would be handy to have.

I guess it depends on whether you want to paint 4 similar large models or have some variety in there. Any plans for the Sicarians from the last wave of releases?

The purple + those particular metallics goes together really well. An original take on AdMech, kudos to you sir. Also, good choice on using those feet for your Dunecrawlers, I think they have a very transformative effect and stop it looking like a mini-Defiler.

You're really moving with the Admech stuff. I said it earlier, but I'll repeat myself anyways, the purple color scheme works really well. Big Fan.

Very fair call. I think I am settled on 3 Dragoons and 1 Ballistarii (with 1 more to come in the future?). That way I have the options to both harass flanks or use the Ironstrider Formation, its rules are pretty good plus it comes in at under 150pts so is a bit of a steal.

I am still undecided on whether to run Rustalkers or Infiltrators, there does not seem much in it so it may just come down to aesthetics.

Also having looked at the Codex I have decided that my Skitarii are from the Esteban System Forge World, an advantage of this is that it is right next to the Knight World Orestes and not far from The Maelstrom, so plenty of potential enemies are on the doorstep.

And thank you Sock and Squall, all complements, criticisms and donations are accepted

Neat stuff. I'm still not sure if I'm sold on the walker things from personal taste, but the Onager thing is pretty neat!

Looks like its got dreadnought waddle-walk syndrome the way it's legs are mounted, but it also looks to be built for stability over speed.

Thank you everyone, nice to see a new face in here in the form of pantheralegionnaire too.

Not much in the way of progress but all of the Ad Mech that I currently own are now constructed and on their way to being based. So a blurry army shot:

So painted I have:

1 Imperial Knight
1 Onager Dunecrawler
5 Skitarii Rangers.

Left to paint I have:

15 Skitarii Vanguard
10 Skitarii rangers
1 Onager
3 Ironstrider Dragoons
1 Ironstrider Ballisterii
and finally 5 Sicarian infiltrators:

I do not really know why I went with these over the Rustalkers but there you go. Thank you, as ever, for looking.

That's quite the number of Cog-heads you're amassing there Thraxas.

I saw the Onager at my FLGS and was quite surprised how small they are. The photos from the White Dwarf are quite deceptive as I was expecting something a bit more Defiler sized. I see you've gone for the AA over-kill array on one of them lol.

Not much in the way of progress but...whoops:

I like the box and the quality of contents, I still think it should have been about £25 less (or $120 less if you live in Aus or NZ), but i did get it at %20 off so that mitigated that a bit.

The Chaos will all be added to my Iron Warriors (50 unpainted Cultists now I think, hooray!) and the Sorceror will be made as a standard Lord.

For the Assassins I think I will go for a variety of different Camo schemes...that should be fun.
