why do you think that not having a strict hierarchy is already unbound?

I knew I should have read the next page, the one with the notes for HVAs, unique units, and designated generals.

Also no, I don't see HVA stars on the Breach and Eradicate team in either book. I used ★ in a search of the pdf, and the Tangle was the only infantry unit of any kind with a HVA star, otherwise it was limited to vehicles, and not every vehicle at that - an all Strider army has no HVA stars at all for example.

I'm in the RC and we spent a huge amount of time looking at and working on different army structure systems for Warpath.

We really wanted players to be able to field varied, diverse lists - say an Asterian Drone army compared to an Asterian Kalyshi one, without having to throw out a ton of restrictive themed variant lists that pushed players into restrictive playstyles. We also wanted people to be able to play fully mechanised lists if they wished, so for example the same GCPS list can be used to create an Imperial Guard Krieg-style ground pounder army, a Steel Legion mechanised infantry force or one akin to Elysian drop troops.

A lot of the mechanics with the way the suppression and damage modelling work help to limit extreme min maxing in lists, and the only real issues were with mass spamming high-Def units and the HVA system is used to handle that. Anything that when fielded in multiples would prove overly challenging for a balanced army to deal with, is assigned an HVA rating. Some units, such as Polaris Striders, which can have an extreme impact on the game en-masse are also assigned HVA ratings.

The thing I like about the HVA system, is that it still allows gamers to play 'what if' scenarios in a structured environment, and makes for an interesting asymmetric challenge for both players. It also allowed us to point up units in two different ways:

(1) A cost metric when fielded in balanced numbers (points)
(2) And one for when fielded in very large numbers (HVA)

Why are Polaris striders a huge impact? Isn't the Polaris cannon anti tank, and the majority of the armies will normally be infantry?

Nice to have one from the RC here
for this point, I like your system and it is actually one I knew from other (older) games and I missed in 40k the most

And I have one question, are we going to see other factions soon?
I knew that Mantic don't want to get into the count as 40k list stuff, but to get people into a complete new game it would be helpful to tell them how many are planed and how long they have to wait for them

If I had to guess it is because they vapourise anything and if spammed once they had taken out the other sides tanks/heavy hitters they would be difficult to kill while overriding there main disadvantage low rof.

Also it would be horrid to play against.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

I wouldn't worry, their instantaneous matter transporter is probably just on the fritz again. If I were you, I'd give it another 3 hours or so and then you can panic, call the police, and the BBB.

I got my FEDEX shipping notice two days ago, with an estimated delivery of YESTERDAY. Not to mention it looks like I will be one of the absolute last people to get their delivery. I also have a history of not getting things on Kickstarter, and have had issues with Mantic as well. Yes, I do sound like overly worried, I admit that. However, once bitten and all that....

I bitched out FedEx for their guy not dropping my box and "claimed he tried to deliver and I wasn't home". No note, no nothing, said he would deliver it the next week on the tracking site. I told them to get his ass back and drop it immediately. I got it two hours later.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Yeah, FEDEX in my area is pretty bad. My wife and I work opposite shifts at work, so we don't need a babysitter or daycare. There is someone home 24 hours a day, if not both of us. FedEx has been known to find someone "not home" on several occasions, including when I was landscaping my front yard. They have delivered my packages to the wrong address several times, and even recorded my address as "unfindable" (or whatever the actual term is when they swear there isn't a house built there. They were a block off of my address when delivering). I almost forgot the time they chucked a package into a snow drift near the corner of my house. I barely noticed it poking out of the fresh snow that was piling up.

I don't understand delivery that bad, the worst I've had is the occasional express delivery van driver who only waits about 15 seconds after ringing the doorbell, before racing back to his van with the package to move on to the next delivery.

Well that's a bit different. I thought you had just gotten the notice that it was on the way.

It's weird - where I am in Canada, FedEx is one of the most dependable delivery services, meanwhile our government run postal services will sit on packages for a few days until they have more stuff to deliver.

Hope you get it sorted with Fedex quickly.

I'm loving it, there's a lot of options and the resulting troopers look great.
Only problem I'm finding is figuring out how to represent Rangers with Sniper Rifles, my decision has been to model the troopers with a red stripe on one shoulder pad.

I'm deciding whether to do that, convert with enforcer pathfinders parts, or use anvil industries Miniatures.

Also, just finished first strike. Great book, few loose ends to tie into a sequel that I will eagerly await. I'm a little disappointed we didn't get an epilogue paragraph for the main corporation marine.

Anyone got the heavy weapon upgrade set to take a pic of?

Just had a gander at this. (I've been on a long holiday hiatus from miniatures.)

The GCPS troops look like they match up brilliantly with the Dreamforge Eisenkern, to the benefit of both. Namely, the GCPS look like they could actually fit inside the Dreamforge armor, so they would look great alongside or fighting against them.

(At first I thought the GCPS might be just slightly too tall relative to the Eisenkern, until I noticed that the Eisenkern's base was about half as tall as the GCPS's.)

Someone should put up some picks of GCPS alongside the oh-so-very-cheap-but-useful Sedition Wars troopers. Maybe I should. Which means maybe I should actually put one together first.

Troopers. From Sedition Wars.

One of CMON's first board game kickstarters, after Zombicide.

Game regularly can be found for under 30 online. Good source of nice scifi bases. Also weird monsters and pretty decent generic scifi grunts if you don't mind restic cleanup.
