... i'm playing (or at least collecting) an Orcs and Goblin army, last time I had to quit because I just simply had too much to do in the real life. Anyway, I plan to start playing games in 3 months (mostly because i'm a slow painter) and I plan to playing tournaments once I get a little more experienced. Thing is, I plan on getting some cavalry and as far as I understand, Forest Goblin Spider Riders are my best choice and here comes the problem - I have a huuuuuge Arachnophobia. I know it might sound silly, because maybe it is, but I really have a huge problem with spiders.
So here's what I want to know - would tournament organisers be kind enough to let me use Boar Boaz as "count as" if I explain my problem, even though it might look weird having Orcs on boars running on walls?
Just get wolf riders. I use spider riders as a preference(I have a ton of them from BfSP and I love spiders), but the wolves are a heck of a lot faster than the spiders. The only things going to the spider riders is that they don't take dangerous terrain tests and the spiders are has poisoned attacks(making them not so weak fighters).
Really though, wolf riders do the same job as spider riders and are much faster. Vanguard move+M9=hellafast.
You can even give the wolf riders shields to make not fast cav. It's not a great idea since they can't really fight, though. They are supposed to be killing warmachines and other targets of opportunity and fast cav is what allows them to get to those targets.
Don't worry about being arachnophobic. I can't stand being near steep drops.

To answer you directly, I think that going from spiders to boars is a pretty big stretch.
If you want some spider riders, I'd try to do some conversions. Maybe some "squig carts", or some steam-powered walker things, or...wolves with suction cups on their feet.
just think of the spiders as like little pointy twigs and berries lol but i know how you mean i hate spiders a huge amount but painting them wasnt so bad i just stared alot as i painted making sure they wouldnt go anywhere (:
Ahh, thanks for the nice replies. I suppose i'm going with wolves then without the "count as" rule. It's just a shame though, I really love the Boar Boyz models. I might find another solution in the end.
“It was in lands of the Chi-An where she finally ran him to ground. There she kissed him deeply as he lay dying, and so stole from him his last, agonized breath.
On a delicate chain at her throat, she keeps it with her to this day.”
If you want to do some "counts as" spider riders I suggest making snake riders, most of the movement rules and poisened attacks still make sense, plus really easy to make with greenstuff.
