Hello! This is my first posting, although I've been lurking around for awhile, sans profile. I hope that this is not a repost, although I've been searching for so long I'm near out of hair to tear out.

I have Assault on Black Reach. I'm trying to lure some of my more naive friends into joining me to commit to a 40k army (it's not so many dollars, no, no...) and they want to try playing it. Unfortunately, what I don't have any longer is the small "Getting Started" booklet which comes with AoBR. Not the rulebook, which I do have, but the seemingly innocuous secondary book which actually has all of the necessary numbers and rules.

Do you know where I could find a pdf of this? I've got two small armies sitting here and it's come to a frustrating standstill!

Just direct them to GW's website - it's got pages for every race with all the information for beginners. Even has a "getting started" section for each race.

Unfortunately, pdfs like the one you mention - even for something as innocuous as that booklet - are illegal. If you want to Google around looking for it nobody will stop you, but we can't say much more than that on Dakka.

Ah...thank you, I'll see what I can do with their site. It's a bummer though; I own the thing and unlike a full rulebook or codex, this booklet isn't sold by itself.

Unless you are really strapped for cash I would suggest getting the respective codexii for each race so you can build your armies up after getting the hang of it!
Or you could be a cheap bastard and pirate them, BUT THAT'S EXTRA HERETICAL!!

So overwhelming. Do you know of a list of stats for the two forces in AoBR? I don't know the WS/BS etc for anything in there. Surely there's a legally obtainable record of this somewhere, they're all standard parts.

If you know of anything, I'd be in your debt if you could direct me to something I could use to play this. Thank you.

If you look up the units, they have entries on their statistics.
however i'm not supposed to be posting stats and points costs.

Wait, can't you just look it up in the lil rulebook?

Asking for an illegal pdf-copy of GW-material in your first post is not a good idea.

It's a shame that the AoBR box set doesn't have a proper "Getting Started" book like they did in the "Battle for Macragge" set in 4th edition. That book showed you how to play with the models that were in the box.

If you have the small rulebook from AoBR, all of the stats for the races are in the back, starting on page 98.

As mentioned above, the stats for the units (but not the unit costs or upgrades etc) are in the back of the mini-rule book.

If you want a copy of the "getting started" booklet, have a look at ebay. They probably sell them there for not very much.

Alternately, go into your local GW store (or FLGS) and see if anyone will sell/lend/give you one.

Indeed.
