Slaan – lore of life, becalming, focus, plaque of Tepok, banner of discipline.
Olblood – blade of realities, light armour, shield, dragonhelm.
19-25 Temple guard – banner of swiftness, burning blade of Chotec+Dragonbane gem.
Tactical notes:
Slaan – not a boring uberslaan altho he does have part of the necessary equipment for one, most notably the lore, main goal make room for the oldblood.
Oldblood – a severe improvement in the unit's destructive potential, and whatever feels like flaming trough the unit's regen will run into big issues with him, shield might get removed to fit in 2500.
Temple guard – the speed up was an obvious choice for a unit that needs to manuever to favorable positions quickly, the additional flame protection and enemy regen counter seem like a fun idea, especially usefull if some brave leader of a banner of flame unit dosen't feel like spending time in the rear ranks or better yet declares a challenge himself.
The overall use of this unit is to act as a deathstar basically, with slaan magic making sure enemy deathstars aren't too much to handle in CC.
Thoughts, suggestions and neat jokes are all welcomed.

I like the list. Have you considered giving your Slann Unfathomable Prescence? I believe the magic resistance (3) is also conferred to the unit he is in, so in case an opposing wizard hurls a fireball (the temple guard cant get their regen) or any other spell at that unit, the temple guard still have a chance of surviving.

Magic Resistance is a total waste of points. The main spells that will actually cause you issues (even more so for Lizards) are all ones which MR does nothing against as they don't cause wounds (Dwellers, Pit, Purple Sun etc etc). Becalming + a Scroll/Cube is normally plenty of magic defense. If he was going to take another Discipline it should be Loremaster but I think half the point of the build he is using to to keep the Slann cheap enough so that you can still fit in the Oldblood.

Yeah i can see how limited magic resistance is, but it seems like the OP was dead-set on keeping his deathstar alive and keeping his regen saves, so i thought the magic resistance might help. Yet, once again, I do see your point.

YMMV, but I always got more bang out of multiple scar vets.
But, if you are doing a 2500 point game (which is my guess with your set up); I'd rather have:
Slann: Focus of Mystery, Rumination
Slaan: Becalming, Rumination
Seriously, 2 cheapo slaans is going to get more done than an old blood. At least squeeze in an other tricksters on that oldblood to help against the wards.

For 75 pts blade of realty is pretty much junk in 8th. They get to re-roll failed tests via the BSB now. Much better off getting a weapon that actually does damage.. yeah it could kill something but probably wont, and then youre paying a ton of points for a glorified hand weapon leaving you nothing for defense.
I usually just use great weapon, armor of destiny, dawnstone and tricksters other shard.. Unmounted you got a 2+/4++ and can reroll armor while forcing opponent to reroll wards. However, if given the choice I rather not take an oldblood.. Why not just use sub 100 pt scar vets?

I agree that BoR is not as useful in this edition, but it can still be fun.
I think loremaster is important on that slann though and the forbidden rod will look real good on that slann instead of tepok.

Honestly i run that slaan even when i'm not taking an oldblood, it's not that uberslaan are bad they're just... boring, plus the points i save allow for some experiments every now and again.

What if i ran this olblood instead?
Olblood – Light armour, shield, sword of bloodshed, dragonhelm, venom of the firefly frog.
5 pts. cheaper and with a whooping 8 S5 poisoned attacks.

unfortunately venom of the firefly frog says it only affects mundane weapons. But its not a bad combo with just a normal hand weapon or great weapon
