why do you want to know? huh? HUH?

Ok after reading about the evil sunz i've wondered why red goes fasta. I read a different article about orks that said a group of orks saw a blood angles task force filled with veichles. So they thought " da red ones goes fasta"

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Q. Why do orks think 'red ones go fasta'.

A. Because they do. Answer accompanied by a swing at the inquisitive inrterloper with a large choppa or blunt object.

Note that the attack is as much a valid part of the reply as any words.

Ork reasoning is for orks, questions result in beatings.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Redz go fasta because in the real world, a red car is inconsciously linked to a Ferrari, or a nice sport car at the very least. So GW thought that introducing this in the W40K universe would be damn funny.

Now, in the fluff, why do orks think redz go fasta? Maybe one of the Old Ones that created the Orkoid race rode in a Ferrari 458 Italia?

Also the weird "waaagh field" that seems to emanate from orkoid brains, an Ork gun rarely works in the hands of anyone but an ork yet when an ork pulls the trigger a stream of shells fire out because the ork believes they will,

this goes along way to explain how equipment from various races all founded on different base weapon technology can be strung together by a half mad tinkerer and turned into a horribly potent weapon of mass destruction where really it should just fizz lamely or blow up in its creators face.

This principal applies to the ork belief that many colours bestow different properties on objects, the red ones literally do go faster because millions of orks believe this to be so.

They think the red ones go faster because, when they paint a vehicle red, it looks faster, and thus goes faster.

According to the codex, this is because of an old tradition of coating their steeds in their enemies blood. I think that this would madden their boars, and so make them go faster. It is my opinion that orks would naturally assume that trukks and battlewagons are much like boars. Thus, they add red to make it angry, and therefore faster.

In one of the ork codexs might have been the one before the newest one, they said that way back in the day a mek made two trukks one red and one another color. Both where exactly the same with some minor difference in fuel or something, this caused the red one to go fast. Now orks being orks didn't look for a fuel difference or what ever it was and declared red 'uns go fast and so it was.

I think it goes the other way, as orks are the older race..

The Bangles saw ork vehicles in red go faster, and believed it as much as the orks did, so they repainted...

I'd love my dreads to have red paint job as an option, but that would be a bit much

Well if something is red that means that it absorbs all the wavelengths of visible light that arent red and red has the longest wavelength of the visibile spectrum meaning that it absorbs all of the other colors that have higher frequencies which in a way means they go faster so maybe the kinetic energy from all those absorbed colors that arent red translates into higher velocity for the vehicle!!!!!

Can anyone find this in a codex for me? I've heard this "if enough Orks believe it it comes true" thing before, but that just seems a little ridiculous, even for 40k.

Short answer: Because the Orks make it that way.

Long answer: All Orks are subconsciously psychic. This is why they can fire guns made of junk while in the hands of an Ordo Xenos researcher, its mechanisms won't even sputter. It's why choppas, made from the biggest hunks of metal they can find, can slice through space marine armor platings, and, in some cases, dice up tanks. This is also why their vehicles move at all, why they can make flying contraptions of loosely held together scrap metal that by any other civilization should be made into low-income housing in some Central/South-American slum.

http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Weirdboy, http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Waaagh!
All orks are innately psychic, and the weirdboyz are a more direct channel for that. I haven't read about orks in a good long while, so my info might be outdated, but if you look into some of the stories and fluff about Inquisitors, weirdboyz and some other nooks and crannies, they all agree that there's some fairly serious subconcious psychic ability in them. It doesn't translate into shooting lightning bolts out of their arse or fireballs out of their eyes, (except with weirdboyz, because they're weird) but the 'Power of the Waaagh!' is all psychological.

Actually, think about it that way from the start. It's all psychological, but their subconscious psychic abilities make it reality if enough of them believe it. Hence, da red wunz go fasta!
