With saurus characters being S5 getting them to join a unit with the standard and giving them the blade makes them reduce armour saves by 5.
So has anyone used this combo?
How has it worked for him, i can see it mostly usefull for dwarf survivor lords and their ability to tie units up for ages.

The Burning Blade of Chotec, whether in combination with a Razor Standard or not, has always been useful in our gaming group. Treemen, War Hydra's, Hell Pit Abominations charging your blocks are in for a nasty surprise when a Scar-Veteran wielding this is in the unit.

Oh the blade is awesome i know but the addition of the standard seems overkill for most things.

Overkill=More Death

You never know when Overkill will win you a game. Go big or go home, if anything you were ready for the worst possible situation and planned for it.

I can see it being highly useful against those challenging WoC champions and such. The overkill can help win combat as well.

As usual, the only question is "will my slow ass get to attack before I'm killed?"

Why are we focusing on just the scar-vet? The Temple Guard will have -3 to armor saves with the razor standard. That should scare away heavy infantry and most knights. Yeah, I see how the razor standard+burning blade is awesome(again, even chaos knights will cry), but remember the unit gets it too.

Thats the plan , i used to allways take the banner of swiftness but after having some WoC issues i started to consider taking razor instead.

I've tried the banner of swiftness on my Orcs and Chaos Warrios. Even with the +1M, they were still pretty slow.

EDIT: What I meant to say was how +1M did not make up for using up the unit's magic banner.

Yes and i found that the flaming banner can be pretty cripling the blade of Chotec OTOH gets me flaming in the unit without limiting me to flaming attacks only.

I think that, in most cases, it'll be overkill. Without the standard, a 1+ goes to a 5+, which is pretty decent as-is. I think the Razor standard has a place in the army, but you might be better off spreading your anti-armour around a bit.

There's two ways to play this game: do your thing as hard as you can, and hope no one can stop you, or do whatever needs to be done just enough that it gets done. The first is easier but less assured. The second will win you the day, if you can manage it.

Well i need to take advantage of the magic banner slot on the TG and i don't want swiftness or flames, so razor seems to be the winner, as for the scar vet he's more of a bolstered defence than an actual fighting character (flame shield and regen stoper).
