Hi folks, i know this subject rears its ugly head from time to time but its a common one.

I have been scouting for materials to make custom drop pods, i have a GW one and really enjoyed making and painting it but if I want a number of them its gonna be pricey and time consuming, i've tried to make them using foam board and plastic card but they just look crude and orky, done well a custom one can look excellent, not mine.

It brings me to this, are there any useful ojects commonly available from d.i.y. shops or places like that, that with a liitle imagination and GW spares they could become an army of drop pods, I've been inspired by Crimson devils work in the gallery, this is the sort of thing i mean, simple and fast to paint but it looks brilliant IMO.

My drop pod (red)
Crimson devils excellent looking custom pod army. Any info from the man himself would be useful like materials was used.

Damn, your Blood Raven (Blood Templar?) drop pod is really nice though so I'm not sure if you really should build your own as you do such a nice job on the official one. I hope Chaos gets them as I would like to have one so very much.

I saw a really good looking one here before (maybe the original poster will put it here) made from pvc pipe parts. I haven't built any permanent pods yet but I've proxied Gatorade bottles and I'm thinking about building some out of some plastic jars I have around with fins and such glued on

I've built drop pods out of carboard and they worked fine.

There are some tutorials on here:

Those look like PVC pipe reducers that you can find at any hardware store. My guess would be that they are probably a 3 inch to 2 inch reducer.

The things on top, which I presume are engines are just another pvc fitting alothough I don't know their proper name.
