From what little we've seen to date, the Atlanteans have a nice 'Greek' vibe to them.

AS for Érainn, well, I think a lot of us are just fired up due to the fact that Mierce just doesn't 'miss' on much!

I am looking forward to the erainn because I think they will be like Confrontation Kelts which are some of my favorite models ever. I will use them as a seperate tribe then the Kelts in my world. I think this kickstarter had a pretty good deal, it was 30% off of everything plus a great deal on all the units on top of that discount. (i tried twice just getting the stuff I wanted on the all the units deal and it ended up being more then just getting all the units, so I have a couple extra units and characters for free)
Maybe the way they did this deal didn't seem as good of a deal as it is to people but I think it was.

(X)% off is nice, and I really like it, but in terms of Kickstarters, many like to see the 'freebies' in order to get 'excited'.

Granted, this one had freebies - IF you were into the Kindreds that the 'freebies' were being offered for.

For backers of KS1 or KS2

Our cashback has been added to our accounts and the Darklands First Edition II section of the Mierce website is open for business

For brand new KS2.5 backers Mierce will need to email you a password to your new account on the Mierce website, but that should happens pretty soon

any problems ask in the KS comments, we've got several helpers around if you need us

Shipping

If you ONLY want existing minis buy the "uk wave 0 shipping cost (may 2013)"

If you're getting any of the new stuff from the KS buy "uk mandatory wave 4 shipping cost (november 2014)"

if your getting some of the later stuff pick up "uk wave 5 shipping cost (february 2015)"

"uk wave 6 shipping cost (april 2015)" is unused (I guess this was put in incase we got a descendant?)

you can of course split your shipping and get stuff sooner by picking up all of these..

and the updates

Thank You!

Wow! What a fantastic Kickstarter project we've just taken part in!

Darklands: First Edition II has, of course, proved to be a rousing success, ending on £130,735 with 453 backers, and we'd like to thank each and every one of you for contributing to that success. Without your pledge Darklands: First Edition II and its associated miniatures would not be produced!

Now, of course, we must explain how you tell us what you would like for the money you have pledged. This is actually quite simple, and we've broken it down here into a few steps to keep things nice and easy.

1: Complete the survey

The first thing you should do is to complete our survey questionnaire that was sent yesterday by Kickstarter. This is important! All we require from you at this stage is your full name, full address and e-mail address.

Once we receive the results of that survey, we will register you on our website at www.mierce-miniatures.com, if you are not registered already of course; for you manage your pledge on our webstore just as if you were shopping online.

Many of you have, of course, completed the survey; whoever has done so can now manage their pledge - although, if you are unregistered, please read all of this update first!

Even if you are already registered, please take the time to fill in the survey, it helps us check that we have your information correct.

2: A Brief Overview

Here is a brief overview of what will happen once you have filled in the survey and Kickstarter have taken your money. Simply put, we give you store credit on our website called Moneyback that is equal to the amount you have pledged to the project here, and then give you access to a special "Darklands: First Edition II Category" on our webstore which lists all of the rewards and miniatures you have pledged for on this project, as well as many others from our existing range of miniatures and those from Darklands: First Edition.

3: Manage your pledge!

Go ahead and manage your pledge! This is all explained further below, of course, but first, a few notes...

If you have any questions during this time, please ask them on the comments section as backers of our first Kickstarter know generally what will happen if we are not around. You can of course message us or e-mail us, but it may take time to answer those questions (especially over a weekend as we all have families to look after).

The key thing here is, please don't panic - managing your pledge is very easy and all will become clear in the next update, "Managing your Pledge", which should be posted very soon.

We must state here and now, that if Kickstarter have not been successful in taking the money for your pledge from your registered card, then we cannot give you Moneyback in our webstore. Thus, it is VERY important that you correct any issues with your card with Kickstarter - and you only get a week to do so, until Wednesday the 30th of April so please do it as quickly as you can!

(We can take the payment manually for your pledge if the worst happens and you can't sort it out).

4: Frequently Asked Questions

Here's a little FAQ to ensure some of the more common questions need not be asked so often.

Q: Can I purchase more on your website than I pledged for?

A: Of course. You simply use all the Moneyback you have and use your debit or credit card to purchase more miniatures.

Q: I read somewhere that you'll be giving 20% off your existing line. Is this true?

A: Yes. In the special "Darklands: First Edition" category, we will list all of our existing miniatures (BaneLegions, released miniatures and as yet unreleased miniatures from the first Kickstarter) which you can purchase at 20% off the UK recommended retail price for a short period - until May the 31st.

Q: What about items from the Darklands: First Edition project?

A: Yes indeed - you'll be given access to the Darklands: First Edition category on our website, minus a few items, and you have until May the 31st to grab them (note, if you backed Darklands: First Edition, the category does not close for you).

Q: How long do I get to purchase more Darklands: First Edition II stuff?

A: You have until items are released to the general public or begin to ship to backers to purchase more Darklands: First Edition stuff. Thus, you have until November 2014 for most things from this project, and February 2015 for those that ship later!

Q: How will shipping work?

A: Broadly, each item from this Kickstarter has been given a "Shipment Wave", and each separate Shipment Wave in addition to the first will cost additional funds. You can wait for all of your purchases to be produced before we ship them, of course; but if you don't wish to do that, we must ask you for the shipping costs for each shipment.

Additional shipments of purchases will cost a flat rate of £3 (UK), £7 (EU), £10 (ROW) and these Shipment Waves are purchased on our webstore in the Darklands: First Edition category as items.

It is VERY important that you purchase these Shipment Waves to cover the amount of shipments you require. If you do not, your order will sit in limbo for all time!

Q: Can I combine shipping with other stuff?

A: Yes, we will combine packages where we can, but I'm afraid this does not mean you can avoid paying for shipping for items from this Kickstarter. We will combine some packages, but this does not reduce the extra weight in items from this project or existing items, nor reduce the amount of packing time and packaging material!

Q: What can I do if my payment has bounced?

A: Speak to your bank and find out what has happened, and correct the issue. Kickstarter will e-mail you and try to take your payment on a daily basis. However, they will only do this for a week - so please sort it out as soon as you can!

If all else fails, you could simply login to our website when the time comes and purchase what you would like from the items available, but we would politely ask you to spend as much as you have backed - that ensures that stretch goals can be fulfilled.

Q: Will unfulfilled stretch goals be fulfilled in the pledge management period?

A: No, I'm afraid not. We wish to keep these Kickstarter projects separate from that process, for the simple reason that it encourages people to pledge and join in the fun! Running and backing a Kickstarter project is fantastic socially, and we want everybody to feel a part of that.

There's always the next Kickstarter for those unfulfilled stretch goals!

Q: What's yellow and invisible?

A: No bananas.

That should be all you need until the next update, which will pop into your inbox shortly!

Once again:

Thank you very much for backing Darklands: First Edition II!

Managing your Pledge

The Mierce Miniatures website is ready for you to manage your pledge - as long as you have completed the Survey and Kickstarter have collected your money, of course!

How to Manage your Pledge

If you have completed the survey and have had your pledge collected by Kickstarter, we have now registered you on our website (if you were not registered already), applied Moneyback to your account of an equal amount to your pledge and given you access to the special "Darklands: First Edition II" categories based on the reward you have selected.

These categories are the meat of managing your pledge, for you simply log in and choose what you would like just as if you were online shopping. You use the Moneyback that is now on your account to purchase those items, of course, and you can even purchase extra items if you wish - although you will have to pay for those with your debit or credit card, of course!

If you have not completed your survey, or if your payment has still not been collected, I'm afraid we cannot give you access to the pledge management system so it is in your interest to sort them out as soon as possible. Please e-mail us at kickstarter@mierce-miniatures.com to tell us you have done so!

Pledge Management Sequence

1) Log In

The first thing you must do, of course, is log in to our website.

Your username is the e-mail address you use with this Kickstarter project.

Your password is "KICKSTARTER". We do urge you to change your password as soon as you can once you have logged in!

Once you've logged in to our website you'll be able to manage your pledge - in other words, tell us exactly what you require for the money you have pledged. However, before you start this process, there's a few things we need to explain first.

Please read the following very carefully!

2) Change your Password

The second thing you must do is to CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD on the Mierce Miniatures website!

3) Find the Kickstarter Categories

Once you have successfully logged in, you will see a square icon on the left hand side - underneath the Templar's Forge logo - which shows a little graphic and the words "Manage your Pledge here!" in yellow. Simply click on that icon and you will be taken to our Kickstarter page, which lists the two categories pertaining to you as a backer of this Kickstarter project:
•The "Darklands: First Edition II" category lists all of the items from this Kickstarter project, neatly arranged by kindred, with essentials at the top. The items within this category will be open to you until they are shipped, so in most cases you have until November 2014 or February 2015 to choose the items you would like!
• The "Darklands: First Edition II Existing Miniatures" category lists all of our existing miniatures (including those from the Darklands: a World of War Kickstarter project and the BaneLegions range) at 20% off their recommended retail price. This discount is a "thank you" to all of our backers, but these existing miniatures at this price will ONLY be available to you until midnight (GMT) of May the 31st, 2014 - so we suggest you purchase those as quickly as possible!
•The "Darklands: First Edition" category lists all of the items from that project (minus a few things that aren't relevant any more), at that project's prices. Giving you access to these items is a "thank you" to all the backers of this project, but - for those who did not back the Darklands: First Edition project - you'll ONLY be able to get your hands on them until midnight (GMT) of May the 31st, 2014.

4) Choose the items you want!

Next, just choose the items you want from our Kickstarter project by adding them to your basket as if you were shopping normally.

5) Add more stuff!

If you wish to add more miniatures to your basket from the Kickstarter campaign that you did not pledge for, you can do so now.

6) ADD A SHIPMENT WAVE ITEM!

You MUST purchase at least ONE shipment wave item, which, if it is not the Wave 0 Shipment Wave item (if you are only purchasing from our back catalogue), MUST be the Mandatory Wave 4 Shipment Wave item.

7) Payment!

Continue through the checkout process until you get to the "Payment" page, where you will see a myriad of boxes to input your payment details. If you are only using your Moneyback - i.e., the "Order Total" amount is £0.00 - then please select "Moneyback" as your payment type, without filling in any other details. If you are pledging for more items than the Moneyback you have in your account, simply input your card details as normal; you will be charged the "Order Total" amount.

8) That's it!

You've successfully sorted out your pledge. You'll be able to see the order on your "My Orders" page at some point over the next few days.

Remember, you can add more orders right up to when the items from this Kickstarter are shipped!

Shipping Costs

Each item from this Kickstarter project has been given a "Shipment Wave", and each separate Shipment Wave in addition to the first will cost additional funds.

So, you effectively have two choices:

1 - Pay Once for Shipping and Wait: Simply purchase the "Wave 4 Shipment Item" and wait for everything you have purchased to be produced before we ship them.

2 - Pay More to Get Sooner: Purchase as many "Wave Shipping Cost" items as you need, to get your items when they are ready.

What's in the Shipment Waves?

So here's a rundown of what is shipping when:

Shipment Wave 0: May 2014 onwards, depending on how many orders there are. This shipment wave will only happen if you pay extra (the Wave 0 shipment item) to ship miniatures that are already available from our back catalogue when you manage your pledge.

Shipment Wave 1/2/3: ONLY for Darklands: First Edition (D:FE) items. If you have purchased anything from our previous project, they will ship in those shipment waves mentioned, although we prioritise shipments in date order - so if you had not backed D:FE, your D:FE orders will be shipped later than those for backers of D:FE.

Shipment Wave 4: November 2014. You MUST purchase this shipment wave item if you have purchased anything from this project, and have not purchased any other shipment wave. Uhtred on Horse, "ALL THE INITIAL UNITS", Akkaz, Cæna, Brunchaath on Gooracx, Gromi, Gomagg, Kill-Head Flint-Fang, Tykho, Marked Galagaak, Sáthach, Oghu Keepers, Skyclad Itaina, Young Magágg, Flesh-Scavengers, Armoured Trolls.

Shipment Wave 5: February 2015. Thórrir, Khallas, Parawn, Srók, Rēoc's Pack, Warriors of Dyngonwy, Forwyn Carys, In III Judas, Quintus Crito, Hrókr, Spears of Dun Durn, Umaer Drast, Geraint Nerthol on Ceffyldraig, Shadows of Carn Bran.

Website Charging you for Shipping

Our website charges you for shipping if your order is under a certain amount (these thresholds being £30 in the UK, £80 anywhere else). We simply haven't had the time to re-code the shipping part of the basket to take into account how shipping works with Kickstarter orders, for which we apologise and beg for your forgiveness. Hopefully we will get the time to do this before the next Kickstarter...

Some of you have already come across this problem, and it applies to you guys in two ways - one, if you've pledged for less than that threshold; or two, you are making an additional order for less than that threshold after your initial Kickstarter order.

You have two options to work around this.
• First: choose your items and we'll refund the website's shipping charge if it comes to below the threshold. Obivously, you must e-mail us or message us to make sure we do that ;o)
• Second: order more than the threshold each time you make an order!

So that's that in a nutshell really. Again, it's not ideal, but it's the best we can do without re-coding a lot of the website.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is Moneyback?

A: Moneyback is a way of "giving" money to customers on our webstore. A normal order earns Moneyback at 1% of the total order rate (as long as you have spent money and not Moneyback), thus giving customers a reason to return and use our website! For Kickstarter purposes, it is an easy way of "giving" the amount you've pledge to your account so that you can choose the items you've pledged for without spending any money. You can also do that, of course, in the same order! Using Moneyback is explained later in this update.

Q: How much Moneyback have you given me?

Based on what Kickstarter tell us, we have added Moneyback equivalent to the amount you have pledged to your Mierce Miniatures account, adding on the Gold Reward Bonus of course. Obviously, we have only given you Moneyback if Kickstarter have collected your payment.

Q: How do I Use Moneyback?

A: It couldn't be simpler to use your Moneyback. The first page of the basket will show the Moneyback you have available, and all you have to do is type in the amount you wish to use and check the box next to it. If you don't want to use any Moneyback with an order, simply uncheck the box next to the Moneyback line and it will be removed from your basket.

Q: Can I purchase more than my Moneyback allows?

A: Obviously, if you wish to spend more than you have pledged for already then you will have to pay for them! Simply max out your Moneyback on your order and add whatever else you want to your basket. You will, of course, have to pay the difference via credit or debit card. Note that we do not, and will never, accept PayPal as a payment method. Remember, too, that if you are buying more then you will earn Moneyback (1%) for everything over and above the Moneyback you've used. So even by pledging more you'll save a bit more for any future orders!

Q: Will you add images to each item in the Kickstarter Categories?

A: Yes, absolutely - but please note, this will take time and will not occur overnight. We do expect to have them all there before the end of May, however.

Q: Can I purchase the "THE GOLD SPOT" or the "ALL THE INITIAL UNITS" rewards after the project?

A: Yes, of course, but only if you are a Gold Reward backer - the rewards available to you are listed within the "Darklands: First Edition Essentials" sub-category, at the top.

Thus, even after the project has ended, you can of course purchase some of the rewards from it as items!

Any Further Questions

If you have any further questions about how to manage your pledge, or indeed anything about Darklands or Mierce Miniatures, simply message us here or e-mail us at kickstarter@mierce-miniatures.com.

Enjoy, and once again, thank you so much for backing our Kickstarter project!

Well... now its finished and the pledge managers up and I return, once again, with questions

1) Mananaan, Untain of Baalor on foot - he's a wave 1 item, so if I pick him and wave 1 shipping, then he'll ship as soon as he's ready? This might sound obvious, but I basically pledged because of that mini, so the quicker I can get him the better

2) If the above answer is yes, could I then save the rest of that money back till November? What I don't want to do is grab this what I want now, and come November having to fork out more to get what I actually want, but....

3) Lets say I spend all my pennies on existing or wave 1 stuff (which is looking likely..), and come November decide I actually want those Craven Fiends of Dis - will I be able to buy them through the website at Kickstarter prices with kickstarter add ons etc?

1) EDIT: Rob says pick him from the Darklands First Edition section, then pick "uk mandatory wave 1 shipping cost (june 2014)" again from the Darklands First Edition section and he'll be in line to ship in June (I suspect you'll be behind KS2 backers, but if that's all you have going out maybe not as it would be a really easy order to finish)

2) Yes you don't have to spend your cashback all at once (helpful if you want to see actual sculpts before deciding what to pick up)

3) Yes you'll keep access to the special section of the website and the KS prices up until the minis hit release,
(It's only the existing minis in the "darklands: first edition ii existing miniatures " section that will ONLY be available to you until midnight (GMT) of May the 31st, 2014)

OK, I've got the Slaughterers coming to me, and I'll be picking up Srók as well.

The Slaughterers come with a free enslaved ágriosávra mini too, so he's in!

I'm not a big fan of the Khallas model, but that might change once i see the actual sculpt...

What else fits in with the Krokodar theme, to get this army up to 500 gold (if it isn't there already!) and then up to 1000 and 1500 gold?

The obvious one is Kadámastar, Ancient Devourer from the existing minis section (347 gold)

and maybe Mazikíliás, Baleful Vasilísk (a lot less convinced about this one as it's a liskar rather than a Krokod, but the look might fit 391 gold)

Yes, both are excellent options - thanks!

I'm thinking that Pétroyos might fit in well too:

I'm think that the factions within the Khthones Kindred can be fielded mixed together without any problems?

If you like the look of Mazikíliás with the Krokodar, then Petryos will certainly fit in well too (as well as being ultra cool)

You can mix all the Khthones 'subraces' in your lists

Just worked out what I 'have' to buy still from KS 2 = £510
What I 'have' to buy from KS 2.5 = £351
Then if I let myself get sucked in to another kindred(Brythoniaid, Byzantii, Albainn...maybe Kthones; are all in the running) then I'm adding another £250-350 per kindred.

Oh god, and then there's the irish and the atlantians...

Sure. I think if I had said "Just worked out what I want to buy to own every single current model for three full 40k armies= £510
Then I'm adding some upcoming stuff to each of those three armies = £351
Then if I let myself get sucked in to another 40k army then I'm adding another £250-350 per army." then people wouldn't be shocked (other than wondering why I would need 3-6 40k armies).

If you are only collecting one kindred then you wouldn't have even broken £150 in many cases with this KS, assuming you wanted everything for that kindred. I'm certainly not saying that any of this is 'cheap', but it's not way out there by most wargaming standards, unless you're a nutbar who can't stick to one or two kindreds.
If you don't care about the game at all and just want fantastic resin models then I think it's genuinely priced very competitively.

Agreed!

And no worries - Rhode Island's just got a bit off a mad-on for Mierce is all!

It doesn't help that it is also for a Kickstarter that he wasn't in on!

Seriously though, you won't go wrong with any of those choices. Both Kadamastar and Mazikilias are just MASSIVE. I'm still waiting to see some sort of GIANT bipedal Khthon unit, but Rob already said no dinosaurs.

Hopefully we'll see some really BIG lizard thing to punch those Albainns in the jimmies.

Of course, Fomoraic raiders onto the scottish coast would work well. On the Darklands map, Baalors encroaching ice has already touched part of Dál Riata, so it would fit the theme quite well. Norse raiders go without saying.

Or you could always get the Angelcynn so that you could play battles were you fight them and get THE B*****DS! Ahem...

Update #65

What a week we've had here at Mierce Towers! Our superb Darklands: First Edition II kickstarter project has finally come to a close (ending on a massive £130,735), and we're absolutely knackered... but that doesn't mean we can forget about you guys!

Today, this fine Mierceday, we have

major updates from Dan Cockersell, Allan Carrasco, Stéphane Simon, Valentin Zak and Hector Moran;
news on Wave 0 Fulfilment;
updated lists of sculptors and sculpts;
updated Kindred Musters;
what you can expect from us over the next few months.

In short, sit back, strap in, and have a look at this lot...
Broga, Wereofor Thegn

Sculpted by Valentin Zak from artwork by Christophe Madura, Broga - our lovely Angelcynn Wereofor (boar-man) - is nearing completion, and what a fantastic miniature he is going to be!

Broga was meant to be a later Wave, but of course, we can now add him to Wave 1 shipments!
Scecchus, Servile Fiend of Dis

Dan Cockersell never ceases to amaze us. Scecchus is, quite frankly, a work of art...

Scecchus is now finished and we should have him very soon; but he will be a Wave 1 shipment of course.
Elthissi, Gorgórar of Khthon

Hector Moran has also finished his current work, and what work it is! The Dawn of Khthon, our Gorgórar Unit, is now complete with the addition of Elthissi!

The Dawn of Khthon, thusly, are a Wave 1 shipment.
Birna, Dottir of Hrafnen

Allan Carrasco just gets better and better. Proof? Have a look at Birna...

Birna is a Wave 1 shipment of course!
Víthar, Erilaz of Hrafnen

Speaking of awesomeness... well, here's Víthar. Tim's new favourite human miniature, he says... and why not?

Again, Víthar is a Wave 1 shipment...

Next up for Allan is mounted Knútr of course, which should be done in May.
Gondard of Karaez, Flesh-Drune

Fresh from a short break over Easter, Stéphane Simon has been plugging away on the Ysians. Gondard and his Nithing, Ekk are now finished!

https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/assets/001/924/640/b2cdbb6295c9842ead7983658220336e_large.jpg?1398419373

..and of course, Gondard is for Wave 1! Next up for Stéphane is Xontór, the Gorgon...
Darklands: First Edition Fulfilment

We have some awesome news! All Wave 0 orders have now been shipped!

Remember, though, that whilst they might be shipped, they may will still take a few days to get to you.

This means that we can bring our full attention to bear on casting Wave 1 orders... and that's already begun!
Sculpts and Sculptors

Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: First Edition! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

Olivier Bouchet: Olivier Bouchet has taken on Thelliatiss, and she will be sculpted traditionally.
Stéphane Camosseto: Stéphane has begun work on Eadric on foot - although it's just an armature at the moment - and he will sculpt Eadric on horse after that. He has also now taken on Hrōr, so that he matches the Werwulfas unlocked as part of Darklands: First Edition II.
Allan Carrasco: Birna and Víthar are now complete, and after that it's Knútr on Horse and Cnebba.
Roberto Chaudon: Eikovra is currently being sculpted and then it's Myrkranio, Mag ap Mag, Mälmord and finally Djiuzu, in that order.
Daniel Cockersell: Scecchus is complete, and that concludes Dan's work for us on this project!
Benoît Cosse: Benoît is still working on Darklands: a World of War miniatures and won't start Finnan, Praach and Baagath's Herd for a while yet.
Thomas David: work on Timoth has begun, but we only have an armature so there's not a great deal to see.
Pedro Fernández Ramos: He'll soon begin work on Mananaan on horse.
Jacques-Alexandre Gillois: work has begun on Daarkan and Naraa and he will sculpt both Equitus Durio on foot and Equitus Durio on horse afterward.
Christian Hardy: Christian will begin work on Aldhelm (taken from Maxime Penaud), Velchior and Agathae soon.
Tre Manor: Tre of Red Box Games fame will be taking time out for us to sculpt Erebius, which is now underway.
Patrick Masson: It's Gaarwäg for Patrick next, which should start soon.
Hector Moran: Work on the Dawn of Khthon, Gorgórar Unit is complete and after that he will be digitally sculpting Con I Modius, Legionary Contubernium.
Stéphane NGuyen: Stéphane should begin work on Seza soon, but we're not sure when right now.
Olivier Nkweti: He has about finished Hanokh and Thoth!
Juan Navarro Pérez: Urien on foot is complete, and Urien on horse, Carys, Caedoc and Ffion Ferddig will follow. He has also agreed to sculpt Tomas Johansson's Geat Warrior, Trytheorn, although he's not sure when that will occur.
Stéphane Simon: Gondard of Kareaz and his Nithing, Ekk, are complete; and after them he'll have Crom on horse, Xontór, the Holumenn Unit and the Gesíth Unit to do. Phew!
Valentin Zak: Valentin has almost completed Broga and he should be finished fairly soon.
Unknown: the remaining two descendants, which are Rick Boer's Frisian Warrior (due to be drawn by Stefan Kopinski) and Maximilian Schüte's Germanic Berserker.

Now that is a lot of sculpts...

Let us know if we've missed anything!
The Darklands First Edition Rules

Now, before we get onto the next project, a word on the Darklands: First Edition hardback rulebook.

We've decided to put back the printing of the rulebook to November.

There's a number of good reasons for doing this, but the main reason is simply so that we can include extra stuff - and so increase the value of what you're getting!

This extra stuff will include whatever we need for the miniatures produced by Darklands: First Edition II (such as muster summaries, or perhaps new rules to cover the abilities of new creatures where required), more background material, more colour artwork... whatever we can fit in really.

Please note, the printing delay will NOT affect the delivery of:

miniatures slated for delivery in Wave 1
miniatures tied to the book itself (such as Uhtred or Finnan)
the rules themselves - we'll still give you the full rules in June as a PDF download, although perhaps not with as pretty pictures

We'll also ship the rulebook to you when it's available without tying it to a Wave - it's only fair to do so!

Now, we're aware a lot of you guys and gals out there were very keen to get your hands on the book when - let's face it - we said we'd deliver it; but we hope you understand that we simply want to make that book better for you.
The Darklands Concept Art Book

Similarly, we're going to delay the printing of the Darklands Concept Art book.

The main reason for this is very simple - we want to add as much art as we can to it, so we're going to include all the art seen in Darklands: First Edition II. Again, we understand that you guys would want the book in June; but we just want to give you more for the same amount of money!
QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters

Here's some info on how Darklands is looking...

The latest version of the QuickStarter Rules - v10.5 - is the FINAL version before printing.

You can download them here: DARKLANDS QUICKSTARTER RULES v10.5

There are many minor changes from previous versions, so we would recommend - especially if you are familiar with those previous versions of the QuickStarter Rules - to have a good read through, and also please check out the Mierce Miniatures forum, in particular the "Darklands Rules Discussion" section and the "Observations from a first read" thread...

Printing the QuickStarter Rules

We have excellent news: the QuickStarter Rules are about ready for print and will be shipped off to our printers soon. We hope to have them by the end of April!

The new, updated Muster Rules are now available for download.

You can download them here: DARKLANDS MUSTER RULES v2.3

They include the most recent, updated rules regarding hosts, units and warriors as listed in the QuickStarter Rulebook. The Muster Rules will not be printed, please remember; they will, however, always be available for download and will always be living rules.

At some point I'll get around to putting links up on our website...!

A Kindred Muster, what we call an army list, gives you the blocks to build a host of a particualr kindred for Darklands. It includes all of the different unit types available to you as a general wishing to create an army, in the shape of warrior profiles.

The kindred musters given below now include all of the warriors unlocked by this project (as well as those from Darklands: First Edition and our current project, https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mierceminiatures/darklands-first-edition-ii" target="_blank">Darklands: First Edition II), so you can check exactly what you're getting for your money in game terms.

Bear in mind, however, that any new profiles are only partially playtested (if at all) - expect changes and feel free to give us feedback on the Mierce forums. Check them out for some awesome new warriors, however!

ALBAINN MUSTER v1.6
ANGELCYNN MUSTER v1.11
BRYTHONIAID MUSTER v1.7
BYZANTII MUSTER v1.2
FOMORAIC MUSTER v1.9
INFERNII MUSTER v1.1
KHTHONES MUSTER v1.5
NORSE MUSTER v1.6
VRAS MUSTER v1.5
YSIAN MUSTER v1.8
SELL-SWORD MUSTER v1.4

Muster Links in bold include warriors from this project.

No doubt there'll be a few errors or typos - feel free to tell us about them!

Upon each profile is a handy pronunciation guide (based on the Wikipedia Pronunciation Respelling Key) under the warrior's title and, at the bottom of each profile, a suggestion on which miniature from our range to use as that warrior on the battlefield.

...and that's it for this update! More next week...

So, I've been working out what I'm gonna buy with my pledge on the Mierce website, but I'm a little confused about the helmed Naraa figure. Is she free when I buy the five Warriors of Baalor set, or would I have to buy the fifteen Warriors set? Both are referred to as "The Eye Ascendant".

The wording on the kickstarter updates seems to be a little contradictory, it doesn't help that I can't see anything about the free models on the Mierce website.

Am I missing something?

You get her for free no matter how many Warriors you buy - but you only ever get one of her for free per Kickstarter account.

Update for KS2:

Update #66

May 2 2014
Update Ahoy
Comment

It's Friday again - and a nice little update we have for you, too! This week we have

sculpt work in progress updates from Stéphane Camosseto, Roberto Chaudon, Tre Manor, Hector Moran, Stéphane Simon and Valentin Zak;
updated lists of sculptors and sculpts;
current Kindred Musters;
what you can expect from us over the next few months.

More of the same, but slightly different, basically!
Broga, Wereofor Thegn

Valentin Zak has speedily completed his work on Broga, and what lovely work it is. We absolutely love it, and we hope you do too!

Broga will probably ship in Wave 1, but we'll see what happens there - it all depends upon our manufacturing schedules.

Eadric, Forthegn of Mierce on Foot

Eadric on foot should be finished for Wave 1!
Erebius, Demiurion

It's been a little while since the last update from Tre but Erebius is really coming on now.

We do think that Erebius will be finished for Wave 1 of course.
Xontór, Gorgon of Khthon

Stéphane Simon has now begun work on Xontór, from the concept by Beth Hughes, and at his pace, we reckon he'll be finished pretty soon. We're really excited to see Ophios' mate!

We do think that, despite all those scales, Xontór will be finished in time for a Wave 1 shipment, which is awesome news!
Dawn of Khthon, Gorgórar Unit

Hector Moran has now completed work on the Gorgórares, and what stunning work it is. His digital sculpting has been a revelation for us, and rest assured - we'll certainly be using his skills in the future!

Check out this unit shot!

The Dawn of Khthon will, of course, be a Wave 1 shipment; and Hector will be starting work on the Byzantii Legionaries soon!
Eikovra, Ikon Warrior

Fresh from completing work on Ágriosávra, Roberto Chaudon has now worked very quick miracles and almost finished Eikovra, the host banner bearer! How awesome is this!

Eikovra should easily be completed for Wave 1 of course. Roberto is really nailing these Sávrar - watch out for Myrkranio soon!
Darklands: First Edition Fulfilment

We have some awesome news! All Wave 0 orders have now been shipped! Remember, though, that whilst they might be shipped, they may will still take a few days to get to you. This means that we can bring our full attention to bear on casting Wave 1 orders... and that's already begun.

At this stage - early May - we have a fairly good idea of what will and what won't make it into your Wave 1 shipments, and whilst we have planned for delays, there are always some circumstances that ensure delays are unavoidable. What we'll do is draw our thoughts and experience together and let you all know next Friday what we think the Wave 1 shipments will look like and what will be pushed back to Wave 2, as well as inform you how we're going to handle those delayed miniatures. We certainly won't ask you for any more shipping money of course, so please don't worry about that.

One last word: sculptors live in the real world and real world problems often impinge upon their time, so please bear in mind that they are working as fast as they possibly can on our miniatures and giving us their full attention. We do not want to rush sculptors for the simple reason that rushed work is often poor work - again, please be patient (as you almost always are).
Sculpts and Sculptors

Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: First Edition! Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

Update #65

The First Friday Update is Here!

Amazingly, we have a cracking Friday update for you here on Darklands: First Edition II, for work has already begun on some sculpts (although we do only have images for one) and we can finally bring you a list of sculptors and sculpts. This list is not 100% complete, but we're almost there thanks to Tim's sterling work.

Rubeg, Oghurithne Warrior

Yannick has already started work on the Oghurithne, which we're very excited about as Bagseg is utterly brilliant "in the flesh" (we got him this week you see). It's early days for Rubeg of course, but he is still looking brilliant and we can't wait to see the rest of the Oghurithne!

The Oghurithne are, of course, a Wave 5 shipment, and we're pretty confident these guys will hit that date.
Darklands: First Edition II Fulfilment

There's not much to tell here of course, as it's very early days; but we can tell you that we plan to start shipping Wave 0 orders in May, once we are paid by Kickstarter themselves. Based on the orders currently received, and our manufacturing schedule (not least Wave 1) we think Wave 0 will carry on into June and July.

As always, we will treat all orders on a first come, first served basis, so if you placed your Wave 0 order early, you'll get it early!
Sculpts and Sculptors

Here's the big list of who's sculpting what and when for Darklands: First Edition II. Please bear in mind that this list may change over time, so don't take it as set in stone until the first work in progress shots appear.

Olivier Bouchet: along with the alterations to Gromi, Olivier will also be sculpting the Oghu Guardians, Oghur Unit and the Abhorrents of Ys, Abhorrent Unit.
Stéphane Camosseto: Stéphane has taken on Eoric's Pack, Werwulf Unit as well as Armoured Hrōr for us.
Allan Carrasco: Allan will be sculpting Ravener Birna and Thórrir.
Roberto Chaudon: Thanks to Roberto being so awesome, we've loaded him up with the Craven Fiends of Dis, Fiend Unit, the Corpse Takers, Hrafnmann Unit, Enslaved Ágriosávra, Khallas, Parawn and Hrókr.
Benoît Cosse: we've given Benoît the remainder of the Slaughterers, Krokodar Unit, Brunchaath on Gooracx, Srók, and lots of alternates - Kill-Head Flint-Fang, Marked Galagaak, Young Magágg, Umaer Drast, Skyclad Itaina and Skyclad Ciniod. The Alternates look scary but really are not - they can be done very quickly!
Yannick Fusier: thanks to his awesome work on Bagseg, we've given Yannick the Oghu Keepers, Oghurithne Unit - and he's already begun work on them!
Jacques-Alexandre Gillois: Jacques has just Helmed Naraa from this project to do!
Christian Hardy: Christian will have just Feral Agathae to sculpt.
Yannick Hennebo: we have great pleasure in announcing that the world-famous Yannick Hennebo will be sculpting Sáthach for us!
Patrick Masson: Patrick will be sculpting Uhtred on Horse, to match his foot version.
Hector Moran: excitingly, Hector will be digitally sculpting In III Judas, Demilegionary Incaendium and Quintus Crito.
Stéphane NGuyen: Stéphane will sculpt Akkaz and Tykho!
Olivier Nkweti: Olivier will be digitally sculpting The Eye Ascendant, Warriors of Baalor Unit, the Loyal Guard, Teulu unit, the Warriors of Dyngonwy, Rhyfelwyr Unit, and the Spears of Dun Durn, Gairlom Unit. Four units for Olivier, but such is his work rate and professionalism, we think that's no trouble for him.
Juan Navarro Pérez: Juan will be sculpting the alternates Tonsured Caedoc and Forwyn Carys from this project.
Stéphane Simon: the Shadows of Carn Bran, Shadow-Drune Unit and Ax-Crom are the sum of Stéphane's work for this project.
Andrew Speirs: one of our regular backers and a good friend, Andrew will be converting the Trolls to become Armoured Trolls, and work has already begun on them.
Ernst Veingart: the sculptor of Mjagnir, Ernst is now sculpting a "miniature" that will dwarf the Jötunn - Gomagg, the Albainn Giant!
Valentin Zak: unfortunately Valentin only has time to sculpt one miniature for us from this project, and he'll be sculpting Cæna.
Unknown: we don't yet have sculptors confirmed for Sweordsman Timoth, Rēoc's Pack, Geraint on Ceffyldraig and Max Schüte's second Descendant, but we hope to confirm them soon.

Well done that man!

Broga is a masterpiece (as was Dungaan, Valentin Zak's previous Darklands mini),

so I'm going to have to add Caena the Cuddly Bear when I can scrounge up some extra cash

That wereboar is bad ass. I was hoping for a bit more gut on Eadric though. The art kind of told the story of a shitkicker who had started letting himself go a little due to the comforts of rule. .
